to me this is not really embarassing. i just want to lose some weight in 3
months for the new school year. i cant really work out or exercise because of my
parents. And i tell them that i need to lose weight, my mom will go off on her,
"God created you in his very image and he loves you the way you are"
kind of crap. i am a Christian and i do all what God asks me to do. and it makes
no sense that God would still want me to look the way i am even though i worked
so hard on losing weight for the past year. what should i do to lose weight. And
plus i want to actually have better friends that would like me. and for people
to stop making fun of me for my weight.
Well the only thing you can do besides working out or running is watch what you
eat. Look up certain diets that would fit your lifestyle and go from there. If
they control what you eat, then you have no choice, but to workout or walk. I
would just tell them that this is something that is really important to me and
it would be benificial to my overall health, later on in life. Like you said
above, God loves you for who you are despite what you look like now or what you
want to look like. Hope I helped in some way and good luck to you!
No, seriously. Run, or walk, and watch what you eat. Lock your door to work out,
or do it when your parents are out. Alternatively, like xXchrisJbXx said, just
force it on your parents: this is what I want to do, and while I might regret it
later, I might find myself happier than ever.
Actually not eating is the worst thing you could do to yourself. During the
summer walk to places instead of drive or get a ride, watch what you eat of
course...no more fast food or high fat-type stuff, play some sort of sport,
swim, ride a bike, or roller blade...this way it doesn't actually look like you
are exercising even though you really are.

Well the whole idea is you should cultivate godly qualities
instead of worrying about your physical appearance. Somebody always gonna make
fun of you whether your fat, skiny, or muscular. Love yourself for who you are
before changing your appearance. But I do happen to have a few words of advise,
if your wiling to listen.
1. Find time to exerise. It my not be fun, but it does help shed those pounds
not to mention increase your confidence.
2. Make sure you have your healthy foods in the front of your refridgerator. You
don't want always be reaching over chocolate cake to get to your fruits and
vegetables, do you. Because pretty soon, you won't want to reach.
3. Don't eat in front of the T.V. Your full attention should be on something;
and it shouldn't be on "As The World Turns".
4. High Fructose Corn Syrup. Look it up. Avoid at all costs. Check everything
you eat and drink.
5. Spend your time outside playing a game that involves your muscles. Ya know,
Basketball, Soccer, chasing your sister; whatever.
There you have it. I hope you lose weight. But most of all, I hope you can find
that you can be happy no matter what weight you are, as long as your healthy.
Most important: control your diet (not necessarily not eating - which I don't
recommend at all). When I was trying to lose weight, I used to skip breakfast
(just a glass of plain water), have a normal hearty lunch and eat a light dinner
(small portion, a bowl of soup and an apple). Very important: no snacking! It
was hard the first few weeks but afterwards it all became normal.
Support your diet with a healthy dose of exercise (most easily attained by
changing your lifestyle and even by joining a local sports group). Every few
days I would jog/cycle around the neighbourhood, play football/soccer with
classmates, and play the dumbells as breaks from my studies. Your parents are
unlikely to oppose you having a (more) healthy lifestyle.
I was once in this same problem and went through the same procedure. Best
life-changing experience I ever had in my life.
If you can't exercise, literally... which I think impossible, then eat less.
Watch calories. Eat fruits and vegetables. And if you can, just jog or walk
around.

Fat doesn't make you fat. Carbs won't make you fat. Protein won't make you fat.
Excess calories will make you fat.
You need to start tracking everything you eat on www.fitday.com
You have to find your maintenance calories, meaning...you need to find the
calories you can eat which you don't gain or lose weight. And then take that
number and subtract it by 100 to 200 calories. For instance, if your maintenance
calories are 1600, try eating 1500 or 1400 for about 2 weeks. If you are not
seeing any progress, reduce it by another 100 calories until you start losing
weight. Once you start losing weight, stay on the same caloric level until you
stop losing weight. And then do the same thing again.
What will benefit you the most is to exercise. Not cardio, but lifting weights.
High weight and low reps. Doing this will help you burn fat while telling your
body to hold onto muscle. Male or female, it doesn't matter. Everyone lifts the
same.
You should just join up at www.wannabebigforums.com and tell
everyone what your goals are. There is a lot of information there on how to diet
and lots of people willing to help. I hope you achieve your goals! Later.
well, i'm a slim and i tend to burst a lot of calories only breathin... guess my
metabolism is way to fast and mantain me like this... but like pple say: it
doesnt matter if u're slim or no, it doesnt mean u're in health...
and i'm sure that i'm not a healthy pple... have to go to the medic to full
check myself.
Erm . . .I think Jazz and violentshadesofgreen have said just about everything.
It's all really common sense. When starting out it's good to gradually increase
j00r amount of excercise . . .yesh. Aerobic exercise is very important. And you know, doing yoga
isn't half bad. It increases j00r flexibility and improves j00r stamina and
breathing. It requires j00r phull attention and if done right, the end results
are great. G00d luck.
I don't know if I got it wrong, but if I didn't then losing weight just for
people to like you and stop making fun of you its not right. Once an ex-beauty
queen in my country told me that if you don't have flaws and are beautiful, then
no one can hurt you. Well...wrong...
This only becomes true if you feel good about who you are, and think about
it...you might loose weigh, you might not, or might regain it in a few months.
What then? Believe me, if you're at peace with who you are and how you look,
then nothing people say can hurt you...besides, once a friend of mine was being
molested by the one of the hottest chicks in high school b/c she was fat. What
did she told her? That her problem would go away by loosing weigh, but hers (she
was beautiful but quite short) was forever. The result? now my friend is in her
ideal weigh and the other girl, even though still pretty, relies only on her
body and today that's not enough.
Don't loose weigh b/c people bother you and are cruel. Don't loose weigh for
people to like you b/c even if you meet good people, you might find assholes who
wouldn't have talked to you otherwise. Loose weight b/c you want to and b/c of
your health, not b/c of others...
And why do I say all that? b/c I weight between 170 to 190 lbs and I don't mind.
I think of myself as beautiful (physically and spiritually) and the people who
matter (those whom I love and who love me back) accept me just for who I am. No
one can come to me, tell me fat and make me feel bad for I know being fat is
something which can be solved, while the ugliness others have inside is more
difficult to cure.
Still, just like you I want to loose weigh. Why? not for my parents, nor my
friends, nor a special someone. Not even for my health. I want to loose weigh so
that the clothes I like will look good on me and b/c I want to.
With that said, here are some tips...
1- swiming, running or even walking are of great help. Try to have physical
activities for at least 30 mins 3 days a week. Minimum.
2- Don't eat anything after having dinner! remember you're not having any
exercise when going to bed.
3- Water is your friend. Drink as much as you can, and pineapple tea at morning
and before going to bed is also good!
4- I recently heard this and I believe it: sleeping more than 8 hours can
produce overweight; sleeping less than 6 hours can cause overweight.
5- Don't skip meals; don't eat between them; eat only the necessary (till'
you're full).
6- White cokes have less carbs and are better than those diet cokes.
7- The Golden rule...breakfast as a king, lunch as a peasant and dinner as a
beggar.
8- Many people here have lost weigh by eating only Special K for breakfast and
dinner, and having a low fat and nutritious meal for lunch although I haven't
tried it, but it is supposed to make you go down at least 2 jeans
sizes.
And...that's all I can remember so far. Having a good alimentation is good, but
it must be complemented with exercise. You might need support so don't be afraid
to ask for it to a friend or try to explain your parents why is it so important
to you and try (again) asking for their support.
Different people lose weight in different ways..
So its better to both exercise and eat better.
I'll probably repeat what every one else said but i can't be bothered reading
what they wrote so hear goes
1. Basically to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume a
day. bla bla bla i'm sure u know this. So you do have to cut down. I don't
necessarily eat less but look for lower calorie alternatives. This might be hard
in the beginning. God knows I love my chocolate and cake but you can train
yourself after a while and with willpower.
2. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day. It keeps you fuller and is good for
your body and skin. Its also a less calorie alternative to sodas, even fruit
juices etc.
3. Eat more times a day in smaller portions and definately don't skip meals or
starve yourself because you will end up binging or overeating and probably gain
more weight. It also increases your metabolism.
4. Allow yourself to eat the things you like occassionally (sweets etc) because
if you don't you will probably go nuts and break the diet. Or try to find
alternatives like low fat yoghurt/icecream etc bla bla bla.
5. Try to eat slowly, when you eat too fast your body doesnt have to to realise
that its full so u can end up overeating
6. I know you said u can't exercise but there are always alternatives. Like you
can just do simple excercises in your room that don't need much space, push ups,
sit ups, squats, lunges etc. Building muscle burns fat. Even though this won't
always make your weight go down it will make your size go down. Or as someone
said ddr ;P if you're having fun you won't think of it as a chore.
Lastly you can always tell your mum its not about losing weight its about being
healthy ;P you know, cholesterol lvls, blocked arteries, high blood pressure and
all that jazz
i could probably tell you hundreds of other things but you probably would fall
asleep ;P (if you havent already)
wow this has to be the longest post i have written in MT

Good Luck!
This is absolutely horrible advice. I don't know where you pulled this
information from.
First of all, there is nothing wrong with eating after dinner. That is a myth.
Your body goes into a catabolic state of fasting for 8 hours (or however long
you sleep) at night when you rest. You need a good meal an hour or so before bed
of mostly protein and some carbs. Most of your body tissue repair [i.e. muscles,
etc...] occurs while you sleep, so you need to give it fuel, especially if you
are on an exercise routine.
White coke is not better than normal coke or diet coke. ALL coke is bad for you.
The fructose syrup in these drinks will convert to fat much easier than normal
sugars in the metabolic process in the liver. Some will convert to glucose for
glycogen stores and the rest as fat. If you want to lose weight, cutting out
soda would be a wise choice.
3 meals a day is not ideal. Spread out your calories into 5 or 6 meals. This
will keep your metabolism going and ignite thermogenesis, which will help burn
more calories. Drinking more water will also help activate the thermogenesis
process of digestion.
Cardio will make you lose WEIGHT, not just FAT. People are way too fixated on
the idea of losing weight and that if they lose any weight at all as quickly as
possible, that's fine for them, despite what that weight may be. If you do
nothing but cardio on a cut, you will be burning muscle away as well as fat.
This is not ideal if you're going for a nice figure. Heavy weights with low reps
will burn fat and make your body HOLD ON to your already existing muscles, which
is ideal. Also, 4-5 pounds a MONTH is healthy weight loss. If you're losing more
than this, eat more. It's a slow, gradual process that if done right, will have
a healthy pay off in the end. If you must do cardio on a cut, do it AFTER you
lift weights. The reason for this is after you lift weights, you will deplete
your body's store of glycogen. So when you go to do cardio, the cardio will have
no other choice than to target your fat stores.
Eating Special K for breakfast and dinner isn't going to do jack crap for you if
you are taking in more calories than you're expending. Losing weight = burning
more fat than you're taking in. You have to track EVERYTHING you eat in order to
achieve your goals, because you can tweak your calories based on your progress.
Fat doesn't make you fat. Cutting out fats is a horrible thing to do. Fats
support your endocrine system and is a vital nutrient for sustaining life. Eat
more HEALTHY fats like olive oil and fatty fish. Again...fat doesn't make you
fat. Excess calories makes you fat.
Getting plenty of rest is ideal. Plenty of water is also vital. At least 13 cups
for men and 9 cups for women, and even more than that for active individuals.
Many people are very underhydrated and don't get enough water.
Eesh. There is so much misinformation floating around in the media, magazines,
books, supplement industry, etc.. They try to make you feel like it's YOUR fault
for not succeeding with weight loss after they feed you horrible information
that makes you buy their products. There's always some new fad out there like
"Lose 30 Pounds In 30 Days", which is completely asinine and very
unhealthy.
I'm done for now.
P.S. As for the first part of your post, I agree. You should be doing this for
your own personal sake and nobody else.
Um...your metabolism can change throughout training, as well as your body type.
And the right type of exercise is crucial depending on your goals. You can't
just "eat right and exercise". You can get morbidly obese eating
healthy foods if you're taking in more than you're expending.
Not metabolism. Metabolism relies on how much more or less food you need to
maintain for your current physical output. His/her metabolic type is what I
said. The EXACT types of food he/she should be eating. Some people thrive and
need high fat. Some people thrive on high carbs. Different levels of protein.
Some mixed, some even specific foods. It's due to the fact the human race split
off and continued evolving in different parts of the world, eating different
foods to survive and sustain themselves in different enviroments. It's why most
"miracle diets" only work for some and not others, because their
nutritional needs just aren't being met. A body given its correct food will get
to using it and burning, so you won't be fat (unless you ridiculously overeat,
get NO excercise, and eat complete junk and endless processed food as well).
I just forget to eat for several days at a time, totally unintentional, but I
notice that I lost weight afterwards, so it must work. Otherwise just do
excercise every day.
Okay, i speak from experience from being over 300+ lbs in the 10th grade
before(now i fluctuate between 215-220 lbs - if anyone cares to know)
-Cut out pop/soda and drink water or something low in carbs and calories. They
say drinking milk and yogurt helps you lose weight(something about the calcium i
believe).
-Don't eat 5 hours prior to your bedtime or whatever time you decide to go to
bed.
-Watch how many calories you take in a day and they say to cut out 500 calories
from your daily intake and that will make you start to lose weight gradually.
-Not eating or skipping/starving/fasting yourself will make you lose
weight...but not fat. Instead, you will be losing muscle mass-which actually
helps you by increasing your metabolism.
-When you excercise, cardio and working out your legs with help you increase
your metabolism since your legs are the biggest muscles in/on your body. It also
helps by increasing your stamina as well. So jog or go for a walk or run a few
miles a day and you'll probably benefit the most from that form of excercise.
On a side note, i would only eat one "bad" thing for me a day. Like a
frozen dinner or something processed like that, usually something that can be
microwaved isn't good for you and has alot of fat, calories, sodium(especially
sodium) and carbohydrates. This would go for fast food as well as it has alot of
fat(especially if its something fried), calories, and carbohydrates.
You could also try eating fewer portions or smaller amounts of food as well-not
a "drastic" change but just a lil less. "Everything in
moderation" they say.

1- swiming, running or even walking are of great help. Try to have physical activities for at least 30 mins 3 days a week. Minimum.
2- Don't eat anything after having dinner! remember you're not having any exercise when going to bed.
3- Water is your friend. Drink as much as you can, and pineapple tea at morning and before going to bed is also good!
4- I recently heard this and I believe it: sleeping more than 8 hours can produce overweight; sleeping less than 6 hours can cause overweight.
5- Don't skip meals; don't eat between them; eat only the necessary (till' you're full).
6- White cokes have less carbs and are better than those diet cokes.
7- The Golden rule...breakfast as a king, lunch as a peasant and dinner as a beggar.
8- Many people here have lost weigh by eating only Special K for breakfast and dinner, and having a low fat and nutritious meal for lunch although I haven't tried it, but it is supposed to make you go down at least 2 jeans sizes.
And...that's all I can remember so far. Having a good alimentation is good, but it must be complemented with exercise. You might need support so don't be afraid to ask for it to a friend or try to explain your parents why is it so important to you and try (again) asking for their support.
Good Luck!
AHaha i too have been trying for a very long time
Different people lose weight in different ways..
So its better to both exercise and eat better.
I'll probably repeat what every one else said but i can't be bothered reading what they wrote so hear goes
1. Basically to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume a day. bla bla bla i'm sure u know this. So you do have to cut down. I don't necessarily eat less but look for lower calorie alternatives. This might be hard in the beginning. God knows I love my chocolate and cake but you can train yourself after a while and with willpower.
2. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day. It keeps you fuller and is good for your body and skin. Its also a less calorie alternative to sodas, even fruit juices etc.
3. Eat more times a day in smaller portions and definately don't skip meals or starve yourself because you will end up binging or overeating and probably gain more weight. It also increases your metabolism.
4. Allow yourself to eat the things you like occassionally (sweets etc) because if you don't you will probably go nuts and break the diet. Or try to find alternatives like low fat yoghurt/icecream etc bla bla bla.
5. Try to eat slowly, when you eat too fast your body doesnt have to to realise that its full so u can end up overeating
6. I know you said u can't exercise but there are always alternatives. Like you can just do simple excercises in your room that don't need much space, push ups, sit ups, squats, lunges etc. Building muscle burns fat. Even though this won't always make your weight go down it will make your size go down. Or as someone said ddr ;P if you're having fun you won't think of it as a chore.
Lastly you can always tell your mum its not about losing weight its about being healthy ;P you know, cholesterol lvls, blocked arteries, high blood pressure and all that jazz
i could probably tell you hundreds of other things but you probably would fall asleep ;P (if you havent already)
wow this has to be the longest post i have written in MT
This is absolutely horrible advice. I don't know where you pulled this information from.
First of all, there is nothing wrong with eating after dinner. That is a myth. Your body goes into a catabolic state of fasting for 8 hours (or however long you sleep) at night when you rest. You need a good meal an hour or so before bed of mostly protein and some carbs. Most of your body tissue repair [i.e. muscles, etc...] occurs while you sleep, so you need to give it fuel, especially if you are on an exercise routine.
White coke is not better than normal coke or diet coke. ALL coke is bad for you. The fructose syrup in these drinks will convert to fat much easier than normal sugars in the metabolic process in the liver. Some will convert to glucose for glycogen stores and the rest as fat. If you want to lose weight, cutting out soda would be a wise choice.
3 meals a day is not ideal. Spread out your calories into 5 or 6 meals. This will keep your metabolism going and ignite thermogenesis, which will help burn more calories. Drinking more water will also help activate the thermogenesis process of digestion.
Cardio will make you lose WEIGHT, not just FAT. People are way too fixated on the idea of losing weight and that if they lose any weight at all as quickly as possible, that's fine for them, despite what that weight may be. If you do nothing but cardio on a cut, you will be burning muscle away as well as fat. This is not ideal if you're going for a nice figure. Heavy weights with low reps will burn fat and make your body HOLD ON to your already existing muscles, which is ideal. Also, 4-5 pounds a MONTH is healthy weight loss. If you're losing more than this, eat more. It's a slow, gradual process that if done right, will have a healthy pay off in the end. If you must do cardio on a cut, do it AFTER you lift weights. The reason for this is after you lift weights, you will deplete your body's store of glycogen. So when you go to do cardio, the cardio will have no other choice than to target your fat stores.
Eating Special K for breakfast and dinner isn't going to do jack crap for you if you are taking in more calories than you're expending. Losing weight = burning more fat than you're taking in. You have to track EVERYTHING you eat in order to achieve your goals, because you can tweak your calories based on your progress. Fat doesn't make you fat. Cutting out fats is a horrible thing to do. Fats support your endocrine system and is a vital nutrient for sustaining life. Eat more HEALTHY fats like olive oil and fatty fish. Again...fat doesn't make you fat. Excess calories makes you fat.
Getting plenty of rest is ideal. Plenty of water is also vital. At least 13 cups for men and 9 cups for women, and even more than that for active individuals. Many people are very underhydrated and don't get enough water.
Eesh. There is so much misinformation floating around in the media, magazines, books, supplement industry, etc.. They try to make you feel like it's YOUR fault for not succeeding with weight loss after they feed you horrible information that makes you buy their products. There's always some new fad out there like "Lose 30 Pounds In 30 Days", which is completely asinine and very unhealthy.
I'm done for now.
P.S. As for the first part of your post, I agree. You should be doing this for your own personal sake and nobody else.
Learn your metabolic type and the exact types of food you should be eating. Then eat and stick to it. Excercise. Be happy.
Um...your metabolism can change throughout training, as well as your body type. And the right type of exercise is crucial depending on your goals. You can't just "eat right and exercise". You can get morbidly obese eating healthy foods if you're taking in more than you're expending.
Not metabolism. Metabolism relies on how much more or less food you need to maintain for your current physical output. His/her metabolic type is what I said. The EXACT types of food he/she should be eating. Some people thrive and need high fat. Some people thrive on high carbs. Different levels of protein. Some mixed, some even specific foods. It's due to the fact the human race split off and continued evolving in different parts of the world, eating different foods to survive and sustain themselves in different enviroments. It's why most "miracle diets" only work for some and not others, because their nutritional needs just aren't being met. A body given its correct food will get to using it and burning, so you won't be fat (unless you ridiculously overeat, get NO excercise, and eat complete junk and endless processed food as well).
I just forget to eat for several days at a time, totally unintentional, but I notice that I lost weight afterwards, so it must work. Otherwise just do excercise every day.
Okay, i speak from experience from being over 300+ lbs in the 10th grade before(now i fluctuate between 215-220 lbs - if anyone cares to know)
-Cut out pop/soda and drink water or something low in carbs and calories. They say drinking milk and yogurt helps you lose weight(something about the calcium i believe).
-Don't eat 5 hours prior to your bedtime or whatever time you decide to go to bed.
-Watch how many calories you take in a day and they say to cut out 500 calories from your daily intake and that will make you start to lose weight gradually.
-Not eating or skipping/starving/fasting yourself will make you lose weight...but not fat. Instead, you will be losing muscle mass-which actually helps you by increasing your metabolism.
-When you excercise, cardio and working out your legs with help you increase your metabolism since your legs are the biggest muscles in/on your body. It also helps by increasing your stamina as well. So jog or go for a walk or run a few miles a day and you'll probably benefit the most from that form of excercise.
On a side note, i would only eat one "bad" thing for me a day. Like a frozen dinner or something processed like that, usually something that can be microwaved isn't good for you and has alot of fat, calories, sodium(especially sodium) and carbohydrates. This would go for fast food as well as it has alot of fat(especially if its something fried), calories, and carbohydrates.
You could also try eating fewer portions or smaller amounts of food as well-not a "drastic" change but just a lil less. "Everything in moderation" they say.
