I've been browsing through the anime reviews and threads and I have yet to stumble upon anything related to a wonderful movie called Whisper of the Heart by our beloved Studio Ghibli.

Personally I've seen the movie several times and rate it right up there with Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited away which are my favourite Ghibli films to date. However there was surprisingly little publicity when it was released here in Canada and it's rare that I ever hear someone mention the film.

So I was wondering... What are your thoughts and opinions about Studio Ghibli's Whisper of the Heart?

Well its the only film from the poll list that I've never seen in a store, so if its not being sold or publicised, then you can't expect it to have as big a following as the others, especially considering how hyped up some of the films you listed are.

actually, whisper of the heart has been released in the states and canada - on the same day as Howl's moving castle and My neighbour totoro. I'm not sure why it doesnt have as big a following as the others - its just as good and the animation is just as beautiful. But yes, it is being sold in english in America and Canada, but not very many people seem to know it

Well, this is lesser-known movie, but in my opinion one of the best movies from Studio Ghibli and i think it is definitely best romantic anime ever. I really love this movie. And Shizuku too ^_^

In comparison to most of the movies, I love the ending in this one. Super sweet. Shows the innocence of love. The movie was very well done in showing the pains of growing up and trying to discover what our niche is. I like Mononoke too even though didn't care for the ending too much. But I like the strong women present in the film. Even though it's not listed, I like Nausicca and My Neighbor Totoro too.

I like the movie. Unlike usual studio Ghibli's film, this is more innocent and I think it focus more on love. I love the ending. I think this movie is kinda sweet.

Did anyone read manga?

I though it was wonderful, it was touching and sweet, Wisper of the Heart is a Studio Ghibli Movie that should Get more Credit along with Princess Mononoke.

i deffinately agree with you Shinsen! I was at walmart the otherday and theres a section in the DVD's for all the Studio Ghibli films... i was rather sad to see that whisper of the heart wasnt there =( it definately does not get enough credit .

sorry fordone, i agree that Totoro is a brilliant film. and i apologize that its not on the list -- i only had a set amount of spaces :S
