all the time. i tend to hog the computer to get them and to read their
fanfiction. also quite an expensive hobby since the shipment costs as much or
more than the actual goods. i tend to get them in japan as well since anime
dubbed sucks and manga is almost always ruined when they translated them into
english.
well no.
even my father watch some animes with me!
I fight more with people who don't know anything about manga/anime and keep talk
that is things for kids ¬¬
Its more like a my mother always ask what do I see in it and i just give simple
reply. Nothing too harsh and nothing that would lead up to an argument but I
have the feeling that we going to argue over this subject soon enough.
But viekazama is right. Anime those teach some important lessons. Take for
instance Scryed. That tought me the importance of being indepent and not
depending on anyone to achieve my goals. It also taught me to make my own
decisions in life. Another instance would be Full metal alchemist. That taught
me that nothing in life comes cheap and if you want something you have to
sacrifice something of the same value to get it. In other words if you want to
be great you have to work hard at it in order to acheive it.
These are just the few examples of what kind of messages are involved in anime.
But I also believe that some anime has some of the best plot you'll ever find,
even beating some of the top class books I've read. The bottom line is, is that
anime isn't just a cartoon that's suppose to be watched by kids. Anime should be
watched by everyone.
No because no one ever really pays any atention to me at all I'll be lucky to
ever talk to my parents because there hardly ever at home till after work.
Not exactly cause anime/ manga but cause I fill my room with media-related
things.
I'm what could be named "TV-otaku-nerd", I rec. TV shows (not only
anime) on vhs tapes since i was a little child, I really appreciate my old vhs
tapes, I give my recordings a special historical value and bla bla; the thing is
that I have something like 300 old vhs tapes around, and the original vhs's,
DVDs, LD's, mangas, classical music CDs... There is no more space in my room so
I use part of another room to store my media. For that reason I
"fight" (not really what you can call a fight) with my mom (i still
living with her at my 19 ), she
says "¿why do you want more anime movies?" or
"¿have you even listened all those Paganini CD's you
have there? you have no more space, it's almost impossible to enter to your
room" DDDDD
That's all
Yeah i do the bad part is that my mom says that it's pointless to watch mindless
garbage, i just say she doesn't understand. then she says those characters are
stupid you should be watching something educational or doing homework...i mean
come on i'm trying to watch the show and she is right their pointing out
mistakes.
My parents is kind. They even say "You will understand and talk japanese if
you watch anime." No war between my families. I just hope my parents don't
mistake ecchi for hentai series...
Ah, my folks are chinese. And ive started the manga thing a year ago. But the
anime and dvds thing has filled my whole backroom, but not just on animes of
course. They dont mind. My mom noticed the huge stacks of mang on my shelf, and
says its ok as long as i keep studying and save a little too. Better than my Yu
Gi Oh card gaming streak which lasted a few years until the gaming venues closed
down in my town...
Oh, on another note on anime, every one of my siblings love anime. Im also
getting them into the manga Im reading too. I must admit I learned a few things
from this type of media, about life, about independance, about other cultures
(well, mostly the Japanese culture but is still nice, a change from my chinese
one). It makes me wonder why Governments and adults fight alot in the real
world. Ive made good friends from Tokyo Uni who were on Erasmus /exchange to
ireland last year too.
argue yes, fight no. my mum thinks that I shouldn't watch or read manga/anime
since i'm in high school and everything. she wants me to concertate all my time
on school work
Sometimes, they still tend to view anime as "for kiddies!". heck I
felt insulted when I showed my aunt a anime wallpaper and she suddenly told me
to "grow up" and I took that wallie from the ecchi section! Another
time is when I get scolded for buying anime merchandise(Gundams, CDS etc...)
Because they view it as a waste of money and space!
haha yeah my parents call it garbage:( sometimes I argue, but most of the
time..I just let it pass considering I will eventually get tired of anime, maybe
I'll look back and say the same thing?
there was this one time i was up late d/l and watch FSN when BAM! my Dad come in
and switch off my power to my com...Sheesh , wat a jerk. I think that was 2
months back..
But after he got a taste of wat i can come up with (we made a deal i think, a
ceasefire..hey i am hell old 21yrs), he pretty much left me alone. =)
naaah I've never had a fight with my parents for that, well sometimes my mom
tells me not to spend too much money in anime and manga ('cause I do spent alot
of my money in that xD)
well not a fight, its more like a war, just some arguments about whos going to
take the channel at this point of time. but my mom sometimes watch em, and they
like them, especially the comical ones. i don't think i can argue with them
anymore about letting me buy some expensive anime figure coz im already a
college graduate but i'll work for 'em instead.. or tell my younger sis to ask
them for it in her name. ^^
no not really. but they do call my attention in buying anime merchandises bec it is expensive
no matter that`s a phase. my parent hate anime but they know that i like anime very much
i explain my parents this and so they let me go on
(i`m live in germany so my english is very bad sorry)

Every time they want... and it just keeps getting better

And if you people arguing about anime/manga with your pop or your mom, who's oppose you most? You mom or your pop?
No Iv'e never fought with my parents about anime. Actually my mom was the first to buy me an anime movie, and thats what started my collection today!
Yeah i do the bad part is that my mom says that it's pointless to watch mindless garbage, i just say she doesn't understand. then she says those characters are stupid you should be watching something educational or doing homework...i mean come on i'm trying to watch the show and she is right their pointing out mistakes.
I did and I won
Gundam, because MG box are too large to staying in my room

Nope, no issues... cause I draw the stuff... it is part of my profession to illustrate and I tend to divert to Anime/Manga style
Sometimes, they still tend to view anime as "for kiddies!". heck I felt insulted when I showed my aunt a anime wallpaper and she suddenly told me to "grow up" and I took that wallie from the ecchi section! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............(...)

Yup, they keep saying how stupid it is. And their term for it.
nya.. not "fought" but I argued... Cos they're thinking Anime and Manga is unneeded SH*T. the problem is that I am the "typical" OTAKU. xD *LOL* and they just know PokéMon, DigiMon... xD and SOME HENTAI.. Cos here at night is always advertisement for getting hentai games on the Handy.. *LOL*
so they just think Anime is TOO Childish or TOO perverted.. *LOL*
and they don`t want me to spend all my money for it.. xD
but I'm not listening to them and still watching ANIME.. HA-HA.... xD
naaah I've never had a fight with my parents for that, well sometimes my mom tells me not to spend too much money in anime and manga ('cause I do spent alot of my money in that xD)
