i was wondering.....do u like being labelled? as in people calling u punk, goth, pirky, nice.....stuff like that just by the way u dress or act? does this bother u? when someone gives u a name to be referred by? in my opinion i don't really like it.....cuz i like black but that doesn't make me a goth or anything like that...cuz i'm kinda really hyper.... but yeah i can understand if people don't mind it and stuff. so i would like a reason to ur answers too.....haha ain't i picky

Personally I dont like it either.....its like disrespecting someone. For me when someone doesn't give you respect you make them respect you. =D

No becasue it tells everyone what "catagorey" you belong in. You might as well let them stamp a big permanant tatto on your head telling everyone what they think of you. By them I mean those whos social rank is higher than yours.

I hate labeling so much... I wear black and have long hair.... I am constantly labelled Emo. I am a indepth thinker but think to you guys instead of school friends. I am able to sit there and "Think" for ages so people will consider me emo cause its like a sulk. Another label. which is an odd one is Ninja, due to my studies I am rather acrobatical and therefor people question my challenges physicaly. There like, hey Kea, if you can't run up that tree and grab the branch your not a ninja. Its annoying in its way... Cause I know I am not a full ninja. I miss so many traits and training. But I enjoy to see myself of a ninja that is wots left of them... Labelling i find is an easy way of knowing or get to know people. Which is good and bad. like if you ever go to a new school there are many different groups of people, the nerds, the jocks, the emo's, the skataz, the flathats. and so on. and normally those double up and stuff. and just by your looks depends where you end up. You don't need to do anything but just how u look can instantly make you many enemies and friends... For me, I recently went to a new school last year. I already had a friend so I "Joined" them. We are considered the everybodies. Cause we got even label except flat hats and skataz. and its amazing to identify how your enemies and allies are. Its interesting to look at how they work and how the decide to hate us just because our music is metal and there's is rap, and our undershirts are black and there's are white, and we have no hat yet they where flat hats.
Hope this was interesting.
PS, how do u start your own topics?

i really really dont like being labeled ....when someone does that, its like theyre disrespecting you based on your appearance and thats not right because everyone deseves some amount of respect

i dont like it, but i dont like that much of anything... but i dont really care if they do label me...

I don't wear any type of closing because of that,

I like Metal, but I don't dress in BLACK, because I'm not like most of those
people that wear black and just say: Life sucks. Life this and that ..

SO, I wear, Whatever I want, whenever I want, not any type specific
And problem solve,
+plus I don't label myself

I don't like the labeling system because people rely too much on the assumptions behind the "titles". It is unfair because it puts you in a place where someone won't even bother to get to know you because you are "labeled" as "this or that". They think the people in "this and that" group conform to "this or that" lifestyle which makes it unlikely that someone will step outside their "title" and figure out otherwise for themselves.

"labels are for cans, not people." ~some guy in the deviantART forum. I'm not a can. I look "goth," I look "punk," sometimes I even look like what I hate, and that's "prep." I look like a lot of labels, but I'm not any of them. A girl in my humanities class (who needs to leave me alone btw) made the mistake of calling me a "punk rocker." Yes, I like punk rock, yes, I look like a rocker, but no, I'm not a punk rocker. It's like wearing a shock collar; if you do/say/wear something that does quite fit with what the label demands, you get jilted by your peers. Why bother with that?

There are only two labels in the world that I don't object to: band geek and otaku. I am a band geek because I was in marching/concert/jazz band in high school and I loved every moment of it. Otaku, obviously. I don't feel constrained by these two labels because I can share band camp stories with other band geeks and discuss Anime with other fans without confusing anyone.

i don't care,,,
its not that i don't mind,, i just don't care

no i hate it...being labelled means that people are judging you before they get to know who you really are.... simply based on how you dress or who you hang out with...that isn't right, it pisses me off....one time some girl on my school bus asked me what i was listening to when i had my headphones on... when i told her it was evanescence, she looked at me funny and said "oh so do you want to kill yourself or something?" i couldn't believe she had said that, she thought she could figure me out based on what music i listen to....maybe this incident has nothing to do with labelling, and everything with that girl's ignorance or something....i'm not really sure....

(sniffle) the girl sound like a meanie i love evanescence...... anywho well in my school they kind of do the same thing. if u like rock or something else from rap or hip hop they would think u don't have good taste in music and thinks ur a weirdo and stuff. that pisses me off.

Well, labels seem kinda disrespectful in my opinion. Not to mention that labeling usually is just judged by a person's appearence.. which isn't a really good way to judge people.

Em, I hate being labelled and labelling someone...but, i'm quite a lil evil if the person is really annoying me...haha..pervert ^_^'
Well, personally i've not been labelled by someone but If I'm with my 'crazie' frens they called us the NOSY GIRLS... X-P

I don't mind it. If your against 400+ people that call you something (in my case the "quiet" guy), then I can't go to all of them and say: stop labeling me. Just one of many facts stereotypes exists in the world.

Not exactly... it's just that sometimes the label is pretty much the complete opposite of who you really are. Sometimes it gets irritating too if it is used for discrimination.

Other from that, it can be okay.

i can't say because if i was labeled im sure nobody would come up to me and say it. So im proably secreatly being labeled just like everybody else in the world. other then that i dont realy know.

labeling just makes it easy for people to assume that they know how you are already just by looking at you. look at me. i love emo music. i like the band shirts, the studded belts, and of course, the converses. however, everyone's like, "why are you emo? do you slit your wrists?" no, it's just not right. i'm crazy, yes, but i don't fit all that well in the "emo" mold. everyone is unique, and labelling just makes it that much more difficult to get to know somebody, who just might be your next best friend.

No because it's annoying. I'm not just one label, I'm several and you can't really place one on me so if you feel you need to look down on me because you think I belong in agroup I don't want to hear it because I porbably belong in yours too. I find it ridiculous to associate one label with people are so diverse.

oh no, thats just annoying. but I think people have this need to label other people.
The worst whit being labeled is that people seem to get angry if tou dont act like they thought you would act by the way you look.

lol! omg sorry but that reminded me when i started middle school and natashie thought i was a shy, nice, caring, smart person.....lol she was so wrong lol! omg sorry but ya

Labelling sucks -_- It not only includes "punk," "emo," etc. but also "white," "asian," etc. I agree with those who say that it's like assuming you know someone from the way they dress.

no i don't lablels
labels are for soups like cambles chcken noodle soups ^_^

No, I don't like labels because I really don't care what people think of me.
