Athrun is the coolest! Kira is not too bad, either, while I did not think that he is perfect, I think that he should display more emotions, though. As for Shinn, he has his sad story, but this is not an excuse for his arrogance. He's too rash and pushes the blame to others, and it appears he feels that he is right most of the time.

Hmmm..This was tough because I really like both Athrun and Kira! But in this series I have to go with Athrun (even if his indecisiveness was a little annoying). I agree that Kira was kind of emotionless this time around. I thought Shinn was ok and I did feel bad for him, but sheesh - his attitude was way too much! Plus he needs to start thinking for himself and stop blaming the wrong people every time something bad happens.

Kira. maybe he's a little perfect, but the he also believe the path he take,move on and make his decision by what he believed in.

Definitely Kira! Shinn is ok but sometimes he's annoying. Athrun.. I dunno what to say about him..

Athrun! Definitely Athrun! I liked his dilemmas and the realistic way they portrayed him handling it (well, except for the asucaga ending, but i better not elaborate, since this isn't the place to talk about their relationship ) His indecisiveness made him even dearer (but if only he goes back to cagalli! opps, sorry, i'll get back to topic).

Kira looked great with Freedom, and especially Strike Freedom. I like the way he battles (the skilled disabling), and it was really fun to see him finish off those small fry in a matter of seconds (Ep 39, anyone?) The thing is, Kira looked really weird at the beginning of GSD. Did he really just sit there and stare out to nothingness everyday for 2 years? (if it's true, i really pity Lacus) That just doesn't sound realistic.

As for Shinn, it was just pure fun watching him get punched by Athrun (you have to admit that part was cool). Sorry Shinn fans, but it's just that i can't really think of anything good to say about him, other than the fact that he was the cause of the whole asucaga comforting part (swwwweet!) in Ep 5 GSD.

But when it comes right down to it, Athrun's the hottest and the coolest (hmm.. sounds like i'm contradicting myself here, haha) guy of the three. Gotta love the blue hair and green eyes *sigh*.

Athrun gets my vote. Shinn is awesome as a hotblooded pilot, but eventually fails as a protagonist because of Kira. Shinn would be right at home in a super robot show, destroying anything and everything around him. I like Athrun best because of his romance with Cagalli, and his character development over both series. Only thing I didn't like was his little rut in the middle of GSD.

Kira and Athrun, for me the shows have always come down to those two, whether fighting to kill one another, or side by side.

They're simply the most important and the most developed

Ichirou-san, what "rut" are you talking about? Meer was the one who sneaked into his bed! That part was obvious from the way Athrun reacted when he realised someone was in his bed. They didn't do anything!

not that kind of rut, lol. A rut from having Saviour destroyed. He just kinda skulked around for 10 eps or so after doing pretty good to start the series off.
