Ai Yazawa hands down. I just love the artwork, and especially love Paradise Kiss manga. I feel no need to even see the anime, but I admire the artwork greatly.

They have really good art, and their ideas are pretty original.
I haven't really paid attention to the creators of the manga that I've read, but I like the creator of FMA. It's a pretty original idea, and even though it has that manga flavour in it, there's also a bit of other things added in.
The creator of Fruits Basket is a very good artist and is pretty funny.

Oguro Ito (Oh!Great!) very good. Check out his mangas, especially AirGear.

then we have Masamune Shirow, masamune is one awesome bastard at creating women anatomy and mangas.

last but not least, although this one doesn't make mangas, his art are totally outstanding! Try Hyung-Tae Kim

then there are all these hentai and ero-manga creators etc, hehehe

Minekura Kazuya; creator of the great manga Saiyuki definiely my fav! I love her unique style.

Mario Kaneda the creator of Girls Bravo that manga has to have the most unique storyline ever. imagine being afraid of girls and getting hives from them of they touch you except for one and living with a house with a bunch of them. Standard Ecchi but i love it.

My favourite is Yabuki Kentarou. He is very young, so he doesn't have so many manga yet. He is famous for the Black cat, and this is my favourite manga too. ^^ But the anime...I was so disappointed....
Well, I really admire Yabuki-sama, because when he published his first manga, he was only 19! And through his three more known mangas his style was always impoved. I love his characters' designs.

clamp is good but their drawings suck, rumiko takahashi is great. she made ranma really well.

I like Minekura's work very much, and I simply adore Yuki's work. Not only because of their art, the storys from both are very great and catching x3

CLAMP is quite good, too, but I don't like their mangas very much. The animes are better ^^

Well, I like Ken Akumatsu's mangas the most. I've read Love Hina 5 times at least, and I'm collection A.I. Love You. I just find his work really funny.
But I like the art from Yuji Shiozaki. He draws pervertive stuff, but the characters he draws are really kool.

To me, my fav, mangaka is Arinacchi. Love her art so much. The storyline is great, too! She's so talented, she's just 28 years old and have many grear works. Do u agree with me?

I just love them--Mokona's art is divine, and I /like/ their stories... In fact, X is always on my list of "favorite manga of all time"...

...A close second would be Kaori Yuki. I became addicted to Angel Sanctuary after only one volume. And her art is... wonderful. I even bought an artbook of hers. o_o

I also like Ai Yazawa, Yun Kouga, and Kubotite.

I agree w/ MaskedAngel that Clamp is not the best.
Actually, I don't like Clamp. They draw so well but the content is not good. It's often complex but the way the characters overcome troubles is so easy.
In my opinion, the best mangaka is Naoki. the author of Monster.
