the probable only difference is that she most probably came back as Lucy this
time instead of Nyuu, which is gone for good, since the last scene.

in the very end, we see her finally awakened and recaptured her memory
she has then professed her love for our cute and pathetic little human
lead....
and then she embraced him before saying something like i will end all of

so i assume she is coming back as Lucy, she may still keep her vectors since her
brain is still there as it is developed by a gland in her brain, so what is only
difference she came back without horns.
That is a difficult thought. In my opinion Nyu was a mask that Lucy had
subconsciously created to bury or cover the demon ates so much. I thin Lucy came
to grips with what she is and what she wants. We all saw that with that awsome
embrass she gave Kohta) Thus my theory is that she was able to cast away the
demon (the severing of the horns) and come back as Lucy, but not an evil Lucy.
However, here is a question... what is the significence of the clock? and the
Music stopped. I don't understand these signs. Also... the head cheif (not the
good one, but the REALLY REALLY evil guy with the horns) he said that the plans
are just beginning. What plans? Are these truely demons? and has anyone seen the
Elfen Lied OVA? I can't find a way to obtain that one episode special.

the OVA sucked but it was nice to have an extra ep, cuz i feel the story was too

The Clock and the music stopping was to show that a new day has come for
everyone but since a happy ending would spoil the emotional range of the
audience they decided to do that.
Its lucy/nyuu cause shes standing there to listen to lilium. I felt angry at
Kouta.. why didnt he hurried outside to check.. he seems to not worry about her.
The last scene where they hugged and kissed and lucy's horn got shot was so
heartbreaking!
Anyone know what happens after? Like the horned guy in that containment
island?
Dam I wish theres a second season for this series..
I hate animes that dont give that extra few second to see what HAPPENS!..but
then again it probably was lucy..though it would have been great to have seen
her and Kouta reunited eh?..man..><""!

Well the end was just good the way it is in my opinion. (though a sequel wouldnt
be bad :P)
Concerning the "lilium box" stopping and the clock suddently starting
to work:
I have read some intresting theories about the box symbolizing Lucy and the
clock symbolizing Nyu because of their fascination of the objects. Kouta put the
seashell Nyu gave him in the box to burry the guilt of murdering her
sister.
But Kouta tells Lucy that he loves Nyu and the little girl he met during his
childhood. It was that little girl that expressed her fascination for the music.
I think that the box symbolizes the little girl. Nyu is a child like character.
She was stuck in the child state ever since she was overtaken by the diclonus.
Time stopped moving for her and she despretly tried to fix that clock. at the
end. Nyu is released from her diclonus, the music box stops playing, the clock
starts ticking. Time goes on.
I strongly believe that when he opens that door, he will find the matured
Nyu/Lucy. (the Lucy he kissed the night before)
I've watched the first five episode but stopped watching it because it was sort
of too sad, and really bloody. I might get back into watching once I've finished
the other anime series
I think she returned there couldn't be any other explanation, i had doubts
before but as sjbawpn said "about the box symbolizing Lucy and the clock
symbolizing Nyu" when the music ended, we heard the clock as if it was
telling us someting about Lucy/Nyu so i believe it was her.
i think it's lucy returning too, which makes me wonder: who will kouta end up
with? even though yuka is his cousin, she is truly in love with him, and kouta
loves both yuka and lucy...i wish they'd continue the series!
I really enjoyed this series, but can someone please explain the last scene? It was rather confusing. Most likely I am over thinking it.

That was what I was thinking as wall Devildude, the loss of the horns was a given as they were shown being removed.

Elfen Lied OVA is just a story between episode 10 and episode 11 and little more of Lucy's past. Which doesn't relate to the last episode.

I thought the anime was very good, I was confused about the ending, I think the series should have ran longer.
