Hi everyone here's a complex question. do you believe want you draw an anime or manga Character it has a soul like the person you drew could pop to life any second. and i don't mean by just drawing them well i mean it could really come to life. Do any of you believe Anime characters have a True Soul?

I take no positions on this. I think that what ever importance or thoughts one attaches to whatever he or she draws is what one is going to see in what was drawn. I can see how people think that there is a soul and I can see how others can't see that.

I feel that often times there is a character that builds themself, so i would say that as a yes. like, while designing a character, there isn't really a preparation time, everything sort of falls into place. it's as though many aspects of a story or character you are creating are predetermined. there's no "what kind of hairstyle should i give them?" it comes out being like "they're going to look like THIS!"

for a long, long time i have believed and wanted that a character should be a living human being. some characters just have this element about them that makes them so true to life, you wonder if you might not see them at school or the library or a store the next day. so far i haven't gotten a chance to see it happen, but i'd still like to prove it to myself. i hope we get lots of believers on this thread.

I've got to agree with ezzy-m and disagree. Oh and that whole meeting an anime character in real life I don't think thats really possible, but meeting someone who is like that character in a lot of ways is. Like meeting some like Naruto whos trying to become the next great Martial Artist so everyone will look up to him. You now what I mean?

Not a bad thing to ask, but it's a question looking for an uncertain answer...

Anyways, I don't think that when you create a character, they are alive elsewhere. that's not to say that they don't exist, say in another dimension or universe.
There could be lots of theories about it, one could be the person already exists. When you have a split second inspiration/image, it may have come from an unexplained place.

All too comfusing for me... I'll go with "Or don't".

I believe my characters have a soul because basically they reflect my state of mind. If i'm sad so are my characters, if i'm in love i draw couples. I put soul into drawing, and i want to believe i make my drawings look alive (funny thing is...I CAN'T draw characters without an expression...)
