well, then...if humans don't have free will, what would be the purpose of human life?

sub-question -
TO THE NATURALISTS:
if humans were just products of random circumstances, then where are you going?..point of living?

if we dont have free will i dont even think we would ever even ask this question i mean...Not having free will is like not living at all... We are just puppet to strings hold by the whoever is controlling us what sort of world is that?
NO free will=No point of living simply to say.... wherever we go is base by the hand that control us and we have no say to it..

Just to live. Is it that hard in wanting to live your life wanting to see the next day and/or to see your family and friends again?Life is pretty interesting too if you look at it. So, I just enjoy it.

Sure times can get tough but it no use whining and moaning about it. Go do something about. Make your life better.
Whatever comes, comes. Be it Heaven, Hell or nothingness.

There is more than one way to see this.
According to Hiraku-San if we do not posses' free will then there is no point to it. This is only valid because we know what free will is. If we had never experience it, then we would accept it as our reality without regard of the orders that we might receive.

Robots for instance, don't have free will. They simply obey what they were program to do. They do not have free will, and yet they are useful to us.

If we had no free will we would be simply tools to the one that commands us, and this in turn would give us a reason to exist.
Perhaps not in the way that we normally would accept, but purpose we would serve.

I don't think that living as a human(that is what you mean when you say "human life", right?) is about free will. I think that human life is about having a goal or something like that. Some sort of fear or goal or someone to protect. Something like that.

I live because I don't like the other choice.
I choose my own path regardless of what destiny if it exists may have in store for me
I take responsibilty for my own actions because they are my choice regardless of the situation I find myself in.

If you decide to let your "destiny" take its course, that is still a choice and indicates that you do indeed have free will.

I have always been of the opinion that regardless of wether or not we are the products of natural circumstance or the toy's of a higher power (personally the idea of the christian god makes me laugh);

The point of life is to Find a point of life....

While that sounds completely redundant think about that for a second. Even if we have another purpose the real question throughout humanity has been:

"why are we here?",

For many ppl that I know there life's point has been to bring up their child/children. Now of course that point to life wasnt apparent when they were children but its their purpose now....You see, in the end you can look at it in retrospect and say, raising a child, curing a disease or w/e you did in your life was what your purpose was, for those of us without the oppurtunity to do such grand things, we have to take into consideration the possobility that our purpose here in exsistence is to create that purpose......

Thats what ive thought anyway.....
