Not letting people pray in school is exactly the same as forcing them to pray according to a religion that they don't belong to. I have gone to schools when I have had to pray and others where I haven't, and really it doesn't make a difference to the education programme to spare a minute or two for people in the morning.

I think that praying should be allowed within a specific time during school that doesn't interfere with studies, and students should be free to pray as their religions dictate. Students should not be forced to pray in one fashion, eg: Catholic, nor should they be forced to pray at all. Just because students have the freedom to express their religion doesn't mean they should be forced to.

In my opinion it is not a yer nor a no, but if prayer is allowed in school they should allow the non believers and what nots to not talke part in it or leave the room.

yes and no i thank if you wunt to Prayer go for it that is all

leave the room. no that it no good it is there time in school to Praye on your time at school not all time

no, at least not in public schools. at a place like a christian school, sure i think should be allowed to pray, but at a public school where there are all diffrent religions and races, if you choose 1 religion others might get offended, if you choose every religion it would take a real long time. not to mention the ones who don't really believe in god. so i think public prayers in school should be kept privet

It is very simple: f**k no!

Why? Because schools are NOT churches! Practice your OWN beliefs on your OWN time. End of story. Period.

Yes, why not! From the 1st to 8th grade at our religion class we first prayed before starting the class. We talked about The Old Testament, the Psalm at that class, hour.
Of course at other classes we didn't need to pray. just at that class. I agree that a morning prayer at the beggining of the classes is not such a bad thing.
In my country for allmost 50 years the church and all it's related subjects were banned, the churches destroyed so after we escaped the comunism regim the people came to the churches and God! Those generations of people were a bit ... how should i say...far from God and church, without religion.
My oppinion is that no matter the religion every man has a right to expres him self and there for, pray. As long as he is not forced on doing that.

you can pray in public schools, that is not restrictable (currently)

it is, however, not allowed to say "now it is time to pray" on the loud speaker as an announcement or as a teacher in a class room..... stuff like that... you CAN, however, show kids how prayer is done, what it is for, etc. under the right circumstances and contexts of the class / lecture....

should it be allowed? (as in letting teachers FORCE kids to pray)... heck no...

I am a Christian and there's no point forcing your religion on people, it makes them hate it. So if you allow people to do it, it would only make people hate religion more and more. so, no, it hsouldn't be allowed in my book.

Prayer by people of any religious group should be allowed in schools, even if the sch is secular or of a specific faith. Prayer harms no one so long as ur not praying, for example, for another's misfortune. For a person to be insulted merely because another of a different faith prays makes that person a bigot. One should also understand that certain religions require prayer at specific times of the day, such as noon prayers in Islam.

i dont think that there should be prayer in a schools. if the school is a religious school, then by all means go ahead and pray. but if it is a school, with students from many different backrounds, stop right there! if prays are to be said in schools, let a be a general pray, one that can be apprichated by all the faiths present.

Yes, prayer should be allowed in public schools but people shouldn't be forced to though. We have our own freedom to believe in whatever religion.

yes we should be able to pray in school

Allowed? Sure, I don't care if you want to pray in the middle of a lesson, as long as you're silent about it. It's your grades, not mine. But, I don't think that it should be mandatory nor do I think it should be made into a big public escapade. Honestly, I would be rather annoyed if a classmate of mine stood up and decided to let us all know that we needed to be silent so he or she could complete her prayer. Secondly, teachers shouldn't lead prayer for a number of reasons, the main being that they've gone to school to teach students a subject, not to try to tell them who or what God is and how we should go about worshipping him.

One thing should always be remembered, though: School was created to teach students skills that they will need to be sucessful in life. Church was created to worship God.

Yes, prayer should be allowed in school but everyone can have choice if they don't want to follow it.

My views are pretty simple.

Prayer should be allowed in schools. However, there should be no time in the general school program dedicated to prayer. The kids can pray all the want on their own time, but no class time should be dedicated to any prayer of any sort. The reason is pretty simple. It not only violates Seperation of Church and State, but it also violates the trust of taxpayers. Everyone pays taxes, including people of numerous religions. Many schools are also Federally funded. These tax dollars should be spent for what they were meant for - the education of the youth of America - not as some sort of mini-church.

This does not, by any means, mean that prayer should be banned in schools. Teachers can lead prayers in club activites or the like. If teachers did use class time to pray, then to be fair, every religion of every particular student in the class would have to get a chance for prayer as well. This is a waste of time and is most inefficient. So, leave the praying up to the individual and the church.
