I'm becoming very poor.. buying DVDs, and manga. ANd it really sux that I didn't have enough money to buy the whole set on D.N. Angel! I mean, I wanted it sooo bad. ;_; But o well. My big bro says i should buy fruits basket.. instead of Tsubasa RC... since he knows that my husband Syaoran is in it. LOL.

And Best Buy is my fav. store. Might of been the only store now. SInce in Us that Media Play closed. ;_;

And everytime I go in Best Buy to buy anime there's always something wrong with the DVD. Last time I bought a Anime Play. It wasn't a DVD at all! I was a damn GAME! Now, that I hate. It cost me $30! But I returned it.. what a waist of my money. Some of the animes are pretty stupid. THe story lines are sometimes just lame.. or the girls might be anoyying or ugly. Becuase I like animes with a hot looking boy that goes with a pretty looking girl. (I'm not gay.. I'm just saying how it is) the girl's shouldn't act weak and the boy shouldn't act stupid or helpless. It HAS to have action.. some good opening jap. songs, good story line. And the art has to be perfect. Also the colour. An anime that will make me cry or egear to see the next epes. NOW THAT's THE ANIME 4 ME!

Dn angel, fruits basket. Tsubasa... um.. I don't like it in anime.

Anyway.. I talk to much. lol :b G2G

Nah...I prefer it free w/ fansubs. The translation is pretty good, and I'm satisfied w/ that. Not to mention that anime on DVDs are incredibly expensive... =/

i dont download many series b/c i used to do that and my computer was overrun w viruses :( so ill usually watch a couple episodes, read a bit about it then if it sounds awesome, i'll buy the dvd

Pretty much like everyonne else, I buy anime dvds and manga. I just feel that if you want to keep the anime industry in business over here you should buy the dvds. Plus they really are better quality than most fansubs. Also if I really want the series I would rather buy it and have a legal copy than illegal. Now for those shows that aren't released over here, you can really only get fansubs so I do have some fansubs, but once a series is licensed, I still buy the series on dvd just so I can have it. Also I only buy it if I have seen any of it and really like it.

Whenever I see a new anime come out on DVD I always research it, see if I won't regret buying it. Usually that means, I watch an episode or two of a fan sub. That's for new anime. If it's something I've seen already and really like enough to own, I'd buy it if I had the money

i do. and most of my dvds are gundam series.

I think it is the only way I watch anime because I hate to watch TV and come to think about it I dont have time to watch TV :(

I hvaen't bought an actual anime dvd in over a year. I used to buy it all the time, but after some bad purchases and a lot of needed space later, I realized that I should only buy the things I know I will watch more than once. Otherwise its just taking up that space I need. I don't want tp waste my money and time on things I can see for free and tell if I like them or not. But now that I own some thigns, I wish I could trade them for something else or get some money for them.

I buy animes on dvds too. This has several reasons first: the tv channel which shows mainly animes in Germany (RTL II) cuts them and often uses the US-Versions from 4Kids. They don't show the openings (or only their "own" version) and endings, or cut 2min off the end. By Mentantai Conan they cut 5 minutes off the end just when the murder was going to be discovert.
My second reson is I like anmies, but they will never come on tv. So I'm buy Full Metal Alchemist in English... another reson is some Series are canceled in the middel so you must by the rest on dvd.
At last im sorry for my english, I should practise it a little more often.

I download fansubs when they are "unlicsed" and not distributed in the states, which usually means anything new that comes out. I tend to buy every couple months a $100-$200 worth of anime. Or if I am lucky buy it cheaper at the BX (base exchange) when it comes out. I have found some good deals for older DVDs I missed or really want to watch again and dont want to find them on my computer.

I watch fansubs in my computer and buy DVD's too! And guess what? I know a place where I can buy DVD's for only 5$!^^ But they're only copies though, not in perfect quality. Still, they have subtitles and it's so fun to watch anyway! And to answer your question, I think fansubs and DVD's are both okay, depending to the person's choice. There are people like me who prefer to make anime DVD collections spending all their money to it. Other guys think it's better to watch fansubs or shows online on the Internet where it's free.

Personally, I like sometimes, buy dvds. I start buying last 3 weeks, since I found the perfect anime stores of all times. My connection is not big but for a 3 weeks one it is quite good. If I buy, it would be a really good series. A series that I will want to watch again and again. *like the one I have: FLCL and Gunslinger girls*

Other than that, I will rent dvds, at the same stores 3dvds location for 10$ it is quite a good deal! If I buy or rent it will be only the original. Of course, I also watch fansubs.

In this country they don't sell much anime. So I rather download it in torrent site. But I would like to get to buy some older ones that I can't find in torrent site

I do buy the DVDs as i prefer their quality. But I do watch fansubs too. Sometimes i prefer fansubs cos they put small explanations to explain stuff that DVDs normally would not hav. This helps sometimes... And it makes me proud to look at my collection too...

I prefer fansubs most of the times but when something good comes out (Cowboy Bebop) and isn't absurdly long i'd be willing to go out and buy it. Just that nowadays i am a poor college student :(

I like buying DVD's, but only for anime's that I've seen and enjoyed. :)

well iv been downloading all my anime for a long time. though maybe i'll get the origanal pokemon series on dvd. and maybe some other classic animes like outlaw star.

I only buy DVDs of anime if they are really good. Like Pokemon The First Movie caliber.

sometimes buy some times download...^_^

I do download, but only stuff that isn't in the US yet. I buy stuff if I like it enough to spend the money on it. I don't own much right now since all I have bought was from my allowence. lol But I do prefer to buy if it is already in the US.

now I always buy anime on DVD because it;s more cheap...hehe and long duration...

yes, i buy animes when they come out in my country. I buy those i enjoyed watching in fansubs. It's a test before buying. I only keep fansub when they aren't licenced in France. It's the rule of fansub and i stick to it...
Plus, it's better quality and have bonus... i like collecting things ^^

i constantly bankrupt myself on those box sets. i get them individually first usually then i sell them as a pack if a box set comes out cuz i always have to have the box

My reasons are mixed, but I buy anime on DVD. Obviously, I fansub too, because I can see it sooner, I can see if somethings good without paying, or renting, or borrowing. The typical reasons I guess.
