Any chance you could post the details on that? I know a few things about HDDs but nothing like what you described. The only way I know that the space could be increased are: One, restore a destroked drive to it's original capacity. Two, or edit the primary defect list and use the bad areas, however, I think that requires reprocessing the drive.

do you guys really use that much space? I clean up quite regularly so it doesn't go up much.

120GB, 40GB and 15GB. Soon the 15GB will retire when I get my 160GB.

OMG, what the heck ? After reading all those big big numbers now the truth ! I have an Samsung 40 GB and an Maxtor 120 GB, meaning a total amount of lousy 160 GB. Not much if i compare it with you guys.
But i guess i must live with that .
