Exactly what they say. I know there's, artist, renowned artist, scanner,
renowned scanner, critic, forumergoer, and leecher.
They reflect your kind of posts, participation, artistic level, and the kind of
submissions you do. It calculates what is the criteria you're most active in.
For some it's balanced out all around and they are all the above, except
leecher. I think leecher is those who've been here a long time with a low
participation level.
It is I believe from a suggestion that was made in a thread.
Something among the lines to also make it like a level system we used to have,
mainly to make the community more interesting and rewarding for fellow members.
Devilet is right for what they are. Simply ID tags for better identification of
the type of member when you take a quick glance at a post he/she made. I'm
guessing the system will be changed in the next days or weeks so we have a wider
variety of tags.

Yes it is similar to the level system back in yonder days of MT2. Since
Candy-chan already said what I would I won't repeat
However we (the mods) have been talking about this for quite some time. So this
decision was not based on a suggestion from a thread. Unless I'm thinking of a
different thread. In which case nvm what I just said.

I think it could also be an incentive to get people to participate more.

I've just been to a userpage of a member tagged as
"leecher". She registered 5 days ago so I don't think that tag refers
to the time you're MT member. She had 0 comments in galleries, 0 posts in forums
and 0 posts in gb but a few favs, therefore I guess the "leecher" tag
refers to the participation level. But that's only my guess

I hope so too. It'd be cool if the "artist" category is broken down
into "waller", "vector artist", "doujinshi
artist", and "abstract artist" or something like that but
that might end up a little long if like me, you do all of those ^_^;

Oh yes, my apologies. I went back to that thread, it was by Lacusxxclyne I
think. And you wrote the mods were coming up with something like that to her
suggestion. Thanks for clearing it up.

I meant something like that, I just worded it wrong, eheh. Okay, that is it
then.
You could always do what dA does in their tags. If some of us do alot of
different things it could fall under Artist of many talents and etc.
But that's how it's shown pretty much on dA. however on dA you shoose your tags
*shrugs* oh well
Hum, just wondered if there could be a 'group' tag of some sort, for members who
are very active in groups (based on the number of their group posts). Because
sometimes most of one's activity is related to groups, and such the tag he is
listed under doesn't really reflect his MT activity
what about reviewers? no one said anything about those or even the kind of forum the person usually posts in? I'm very interested to
see how all this will turn out
Lol, I've been waiting in anticipation for the announcement describing all the
tags, but ah well. I don't think there'll be enough space to add what kind of
forum the person usually posts in. From a little research, I think posts in the
Chat Lounge don't count towards the number of posts per day needed to have the
"forumgoer" tag. I'd love to see all the details concerning those ^_^
Lately I haven't seen anyone with the "leecher" tag. If it was taken
out, then I think that was a good decision, as someone with the leecher tag
would be discouraged from posting more, as they feel embarassed when people see
that they're leechers.
I was wondering about reviewers too though. I assumed "Critic"
referred to someone who comments on walls/scans/related artwork alot. The
problem with reviews is that I don't think there's anyone in this entire
community that regularly writes a review, or even comments on a review. But the
possibilities that tags bring up really does excite me ^_^

Im also just now noticing them. Im not quite as active as I used to be, so that
might be why I didnt notice them. I think its a pretty cool idea as well. You
get a nice quick idea about the person you're talking to, without having to take
a side trip to their profile page.

I think what would also be great would be to have the person's gender included
in a separate tag or something somewhere in the post. It'd help avoid some
embarrasements

does it really bother you wen yr mistaken for the opposite gender? i jus saw mai

m.i.a. ^^

As much as we'd like to do that. We simply don't have the time nor man power to
actual look into something like that. You pretty much have to figure in the
number of groups there are and the number of members who post mainly in groups.
There really honestly no way of us being able to tell who's active or not. So to
the best of my knowledge there will be no plans on creating a group tag.

To be honest I don't remember what we said about reviewers. I think we have a
seperate one other then critic but since we don't really get many reviews I
don't think it's been used if we had created one in the first place that is.
^_^"" As for getting a tag for posting alot in a specific forum well I
remember we discussed it but to be honest it's been so long I don't remember the
exact details. I'm pretty sure there will be tags for that but you'll just have
to wait and see.

Okay this we never talked about. Tags to be honest weren't meant for that. Tags
were meant to recognize a members contributions to MT. Added to the fact that
not every member has their gender set right, (mainly as a joke I'm guessing) so
even if there was a tag you'd still be taking a 50/50 guess.
so...what happened to the 'renowned scanner' tag? i first saw it during its
early implementation, but now i don't see it anywhere, even on members who loves
submitting scans
What do they mean? there is text under mine...

I have a question about the tags as well.
What is the purpose of having them?

Though you could probably tell by their "mannerisms" (especially for the younger MT users...it's pretty obvious). The older ones hide it better
Hah, I remember I registered for like four months before I did anything...
so...what happened to the 'renowned scanner' tag? i first saw it during its early implementation, but now i don't see it anywhere, even on members who loves submitting scans
What's a leecher?
^ a leecher is someone who just downloads without any contribution of his/her own, or someone who's pretty much inactive.
@kokuyu: yeah I remember seeing that tag too, but it was removed shortly after. There's no "Scanner" anymore either, and I wish they'd put it back...
