christian!

Mine is islam, passed from generation to generation.

baptised Catholic, but thats like "by default" they shut me up when i started making questions so i waved then "Good bye"... i became ecclectic for a while and i am now Wiccan.

I'm atheist (no religion). When I say it to someone, they make a strange face, 'cause I'm 14 years old. Not that it matter, but they say I'm too young.
I used to be catholic (I was baptised when I was 2) anyway. Somehow I got estressed with all the "Love god over all the things", and became a strong atheist (in wikipedia you can find what's that). Of course my family don't like it at all, but I have my opinion and, if my parents respect it (what they, fortunately, do), there's nothing blocking my way.

roman catholic

I'm Roman Catholic... and activist that works with children.

Since Humans became Humans, pleople has done horrible things in the name of religion...

That doesn\'t mean you\'re going to turn your back to your religion or quit on some things of it like going to mass, or ignoring basic dogmas.

There are still a lot of people doing good things in the name of religion...

Almost forgot... I\'m from MEXICO, a country which is 80% Catholic... in a country where your religion is majority, is easy to find bad or lazy Catholics... that\'s why my group works with children, to make them aware of what means to be a true Catholic and the responsibilities that comes with that.

I'm a Christian and I'm very happy about it!^^

Christian..even if it is hard to belive :(

I am atheist :)

Umm... do you know why there are so many Christians in Mexico and why you're likely to be a Catholic? Perhaps you've heard of the Spanish Inquisition?

^_^' maybe you're right

I'm a Roman Catholic... but I'm an Atheist... *sweatdrop*

Watch out - it's the wall of text! a religious rant by me:

I was baptised, confirmed, and raised Roman Catholic (Christian). But, alas, being more of a free-thinker as I have matured I have come to realize that I don't wish to go down that road. This isn't becuase I had a personal conflict with spirituality in the context of my real life or anything, I just worked(am working) out my philosophies with more reason than blind acceptence.

Furthermore, I am best classified as an Agnostic atheist. Although I was previously a Christian, I do have some pet peeves with religion (in general). Sometimes it can be annoying, and in more ways than one. A person blindly exclaiming their faith with no real knowledge or thoughts concerning their faith is very annoying to me. It reminds me of den-leaders sending out little girls to go sell girl scout cookies. Many of the girl scouts don't know much more than what they're doing is for their funding. (Bad example: there isn't much more to it, but you get the point I'm trying to make)

When others go to get converts, it does annoy me that the faith's beliefs on life are used as 'advertising' of sorts, albeit their motives sincere because they do believe in the faith. And lastly, before I crack down on some previous posters (sorry to be nit-picky about what people say), I would like to say that the passing of faith through generations makes me angry to an extent. I don't wish to be mean to faiths, but, to put it blatantly, getting 'em while they're young is a cheap shot and doesn't give them (fully) a chance to think about it. This is because kids will believe their parents at such young ages, and it is very instilled in them as they grow up.

Quote by GAfreakim downright roman catholic... believe in all the teachings of Jesus and all the apostoles (or however you say that in english)... damn them all atheists... gonna brun in hell along woth them gays and lesbians ... i mean... its impossible not believing in nothing at all! i respect other religions and even get to the point of respecting them and leaving their people alone (except satanics... those i'd kill if i had any chance>=0!) but i think that atheism is just plain stupidity. plus, most people who call themselves atheist call themselves that just because they're too lazy to go to church each sunday or simply because they're so mentally lazy they dont like thinking about anything that's not their lives, their business, thier benefit, their their their, in short, selfish people. i mean wth people! heh... got a little taken away there................

"damn them all atheists... gonna brun in hell along woth them gays and lesbians" Why do you wish us all (atheists) to be damned? Not all atheists have the same personality, beliefs, and views. Some atheists may be respectful of religion(s), while some may have a personal bout with (a) religion(s). Why do you have such hatred for gays and lesbians? Could it be because they don't believe in what you believe in; that they are 'defiling' your faith in a sort of way because they conform to all but what they (may) make up? (e.g. Gay marriage is okay/ gays are born gay, etc.)?

With so many statements in the Bible (capitilized because it's a book's title, for those who noticed I capitalized) and church teachings, why would you believe every single one? That, to me, doesn't make sense. With so much, it is almost certain to have fallibilities, let alone whether the faith is itself 'correct.'

I'm not quite sure what you meant by "its impossible not believing in nothing at all!" If by not believing in anything outside of physical reality (excluding logic and reasoning like mathematics), then this is certainly possible. Why couldn't it be?

Atheists are not necesarily lazy. You fool; why don't you try and view things from more than one secluded perspective! Yes, it is a nice thing to not have to go to church and put forth so much effort into your relationship with your religion (actually, my parents still make me go to church. I'm 15.), but it doesn't mean that person is lazy or just doesn't want to confront such things as spiritual matters. Chew on that for a bit, if you don't mind.

"i respect other religions"
Oh, but not atheism? *sigh*

"i'd kill"
uhh..

"in short, selfish people."
Maybe in that it is their first priority, but that is a basic instinct. It doesn't mean we aren't nice or don't go out of our way to help people.

Sorry to rack on you, GAfreak, but I had to do it :pacman:

Quote by tobiast88Atheist. Religion has caused too much idiocy, harm, and destruction in the world for me to believe in an imaginary, comforting thing that created us all and virtually abandoned us. I don't buy it. Man created God to relieve fear and pain, and now we're addicted to Him (or Her).

And here is an example of an atheist's view of religion-goers. Hey, tobiast88, you shouldn't judge a philosophy's truth or falsity just by its believer's credibility. Just keep that in mind.

Quote by ishimiHello there, I'm proud to say that I am one of the Jehovah's Witnesses..what makes me proud?
Well because I call God by his personal name,Jehovah!
If you wanna be a His close friend you can draw close to Him thru prayers and supplication..
As a Jehovah's Witness I love sharing my beliefs to others and let them know about Jehovah and his purpose to this earth!

Uggh. His personal name is Jehovah? Are you sure? You do realize that Hebrew, Latin, Greek, English, and language in general + pronunciation is (more or less) an invention of man? I don't want to sound like a smug guy or cynic, but Duh. Its this personality of conversionism (eh...is that a word?) that can get on my nerves, but by no means do I want to settle this with conflict.

Just using you as an example.

Quote by Yu-huangI don't have a religion.
Though, I study them.
I have my own philosophy about life and stuff.

Now here is the type of outlook that should be introduced to children! (In my opinion.) Well, not necesarily the atheist part. But it would be nice to give children more neutral beginnings.

Well, that concludes my rant. Thanks to those that took the time to read it!

what! no hindus here?anyway...i totally agree with tobiast88..religion is definitely THE foremost cause for the world\'s destruction

I'm atteist, I think that the religions are only for money

I'm Buddhist. And proud of it. :D

I'm Protestand (Christian).

I've been raised to be Christian, but I've never really "believed" in it.

I guess I would be described as an atheist in some respects. However, I actually do believe in.. Something. I tend to think of it more as a combination of all religions. To simplify; I believe in a "Greater being" but no particular religion.

..Is there any particular word for that? Or am I just weird.. ^^'

And I really can't see why some people discriminate against atheism or religion. For many people, it helps them greatly in life. And that's great. True, wars have been fought over religion, but humans will always fight for something or other.

Btw, great "rant" transcendental23. :D

I am Catholic but i am also a Wicca.

I was a catolic but I read the bible and saw that they contradict themselve im many ways so I am now a Christian but all religions who have Jesus Christ in their heart and love God and his word are all the same.

I'm a methodist (a christian). I neevr liked the traditions of the catholic church (praying to the virgin mary and to saints, and having to ask priests for forgiveness for you sins.). Never seemed right. I always thought it would be much cooler if you pray to God Himself. It says in the bible to only pray to god, so why not?

Come on people! all people who believe in Christ are Christians! I am Roman Catholic and I am proud of it....all the others are Protestants. If the Catholics has made a lot of mistakes, you cannot blame the religion. People are the sinners, not the religion. Why in history, the Catholics had been persecuted? ask yourself!
I think that any people who gave up their religion is becasue they are not well informed about it.

Don't have one...but that dosen't mean I don't believe anything.

Im a Pentecostal.. a born again christian....
