How old is too old to appreciate art?

Well I have been on many sites and have been an avid follower and watcher of anime for at least 8 years of my life and thats saying something since I find little time to really watch the television anymore due to the fact that I am always busy as a program designer I try to make all sorts of programs ones that predict what a person might do and making games are some of my favorites I also like to incorporate anime style into my games and make us of many cool techniques that I pick up by watching anime incidently I get anime dvd's to watch so often that I am almost running out of things to watch as for the question of a persons age and the anime world is a little irrelevant I think I will go on watching anime for the rest of my life and by the way I am 20 years old and that kinda tells you something considering the fact that I have been watching for 8 years at the very least and I am currently hooked on the Naruto series.

I'm 19 right now. I started watching anime when I was 7. I will never out grow it.

I started when I was a wee sperm, and now I'm 19. So basicly your never to old. I'll be watching Anime when I'm kicking the crap out of the devil in hell.

I says never ever! I will watch anime for a long time since it caters for my tastes in everything.

*gasp* hahhha thanks for the assurance people! hahhahah I'd pretty much guess I'd carry on this hahhaha as long as there's wonderful anime out there! hahahhah thanks people ;)

animes are just like movies ... are u gona stop watching movies just cos u are old >> the answer is > No
there are animes meant for kids ( e.g. naruto ) and more mature audience ( e.g. gankutsuou)
and so the only thing i will ( probably ) stop, when ill be older, is watching the action- shounen type of animes.

Been watching anime for about 2 years now. I'm 17 now btw. But lately I've been falling away from a lot of the anime, everything just seems too similar now. I've been watching a lot of adult swim lately, but there are definitely some new anime which are enticing (Galaxy Angel II needs fansub NOW!).

You're never too old for anime! haha..

im turning eighteen this december, so really id have to say that youre never too old for anime - i have a friend at work who is in his fifties or sixties and he borroowed my witch hunter robin box set this summer because its his favourite series.
There are series marketed for the young, the teenaged and young adult and then there are the more mature themes that are found in adult titles.(not porn or hentai or any of that)
So i say again - youre NEVER too old for anime.

Sweet! I often wondered if I was too old! But now I can see that most of the people posting are around the same age as me! (I'm 21!) I guess I felt awkward because people seem to think they are like "cartoons". OK, uh, I don't know too many cartoons where people get sliced up, and that happens alot in anime! So I think mature anime is way more in-depth/complicated and has way more twisted plots than most movies. Which makes them even better than your regular 'real' films. Well, in my opinion at least.

I'm 28 and I have been watching anime ever since I was a child and saw the release of Naussica and the Valley of the Wind. I find the artwork intriguing and some of the storylines are wonderfully written. Personally I enjoy the movie types over the series ... but all in all I think there is a lot that can be related to and taken from watching anything that contains artistic inspiration. As for the conventions and the cosplay .... well that's never really been my thing. I would rather rent from my movie store here in town that has a wonderfully large collection and leave it at that.

Haha, never too old. But it'd be kinda freaky to see the old guy from Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE that sold swords in Oto reading manga. XDDDDDDDDD He'd be like: LIFE IS... ... ... ... *sigh* all about reading manga. XDDDDDDD?

I am 21 years old, i have been watching anime since Sailor Moon first aired on tv. I have friends that are 25 and up and they watch anime.

Wait there's a age to where you can't watch anime? Must work harder on finding the fountain of youth

How can you be too old O.o? There's a ton of different genres that appeal to anyone. I don't think there's an age limit on things like this.

it's 21, n have been watching anime since 10.....

NEVER too old for anime. i think u mature more with different series u go through. most anime is not cartoons....they have a special message. dont ever stop watching if u think u too old foe anime....lame

Hi ,I'm 14 yrs .I think that watching anime is the best thing that has ever happened to me.You see ,at the age of12 I was very lonely and I just used to sit around passing time doing nothing. Then one day while tuning channels I found it .It was kinda new to me but,I got used to it then.My friends say that I'm wierd 'cause I still watch anime but I love it and I'll never ever stop watching anime. The first show was inu yasha &samurai x.

hmm...
im already 23 and i've been watching anime (with pleasure!) for a little more than 5 years!
and i will never stop!
its not about age - its about the fun u have! plus' the ones who make anime/manga are old ppl! ^____________________^

I don't believe that you can get too old for anime. As long as you enjoy it, you can keep watching it. :) I'm 15 and I still like it.

Watching Anime is a hobby that dont have any difference with other hobby, and offcourse it doesn't strict to how old are you? a hobby is a way to express and develope on how are we see and react to the culture and psychology that Anime shown in the story. Well for me personally, Anime good for education and the development of someone personalityand offcourse with good and bad side effect (^^)

You can never be too old or too young to watch anime. I am 24 years old and i will watch it till my last day on this planet...

I started to watch when i was 16

You know what? For me, I believe there is no age limit. If time passes by and I get tired of then that's ok. But for now, I enjoy anime as this is part of my life. A great big positive influence over my life.

Besides I find anime to be.... an extension to literature for some. Some of it's really good because of the story they can tell and really, I find no difference to this then when a person is addicted to Star Trek for most of his life or if someone really likes adventure or like Tom Clancy like books.

You know what? I have a story.
Anyways, I'm at school one day watching hmm... Ranma 1/2. Decided I want to try watching that (this is Gr.11 by the way). So I brought my laptop and watched it in a empty science room. Who comes in and finds me there with a one or two friends of mine?
Mr. Marchetto
Now, Mr. Marchetto can be described as a person as both a History and Chemistry teacher. Strict, hard-working and seems like a normal 38 year old with a good sense of the world. He would probably be a person who's kinda geeky at times but at the very least sophisticated and well-educated. A great teacher by the way but also kinda scary at times....
Anyways back to the story, he comes in and says,
"Oh, your watching Ranma 1/2 aren't you?"
and I'm like, "Yes sir I am and.... eh? WHAT? Wait... YOU KNOW THIS TITLE SIR?!?!?"
He responds, "Yeah, I know this title. When my wife was researching on Japanese culture, we watched some anime together. I watched Ghost in the Shell, Ranma 1/2, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Neon Genisis Evangelion, and Akira. (there was probably more popular anime titles but I cannot remember)"

When he told me this, I was totally shocked to see that a well-educated and aged man could still have the ability to watch anime to this day. Plus it also taught me to never a judge a book by it's cover. (I was TOTALLY surprised he could identify it right off the bat!)

What I'm essentially getting at, is that your never too old to watch anime so long as you still have a desire to watch anime. For me, I will die with anime by my side!
