There are so many different styles of wallpapers here on MT, and I'm just curious, is there a particular style of wallpaper that you prefer and tend to look for to download/comment/fave? Or do you just look for anything that catches your eye?

Also, does the series/character affect which wallpaper you actually choose or use?

I prefer something simple and clean, that won't clutter up my desktop (because I have lots of icons). Also, I like something that's not loud in terms of colour, or overly complicated/detailed, so that I can actually see my stuff.

But I do download sparkly/shiny ones too, not to use them as my walllpaper, but just as pretty pictures for inspiration or to keep.

I think to actually use, I prefer general wallpapers to anime ones, just because they're usually less cluttered. But I have to admit that I will use ones with my fave characters on them ^^

i prefer those that are dreamy, with brushes and effects but not alot as they will destory the beauty of the work. [ ya! i am the first!]

I use to like the shiny wallpapers but then overtime I've come to appreciate more clean and basic wallpapers. Too many filters on a wallpaper aren't my type. I like to see the picture clearly. Sometimes I just like a small picture in the middle or the side then the background is just one solid color. That way, I can see my icons and organize my stuff easily.

But at the beginning I liked the shiny and sparkly ones with a lot of brushes best!

It would be better if the wallpaper have our fav series/characters on it. If someone like or favour a series/character, the person will choose them regards of other highly submissions quality.

I prefer Bleach type wallpaper or anime wallpaper. I am obsessed in Bleach anime and manga so I am an avid fan of Bleach. I would choose the simple, clean, soft textures and black background color. Black background are great in contrast with the icons. I kinda like the dark/night type wallpaper cause it reveal more about the scan and the story behind it.

there are so many different styles out there that are all so wonderful and beautiful in their own ways.....i don't restrict myself to liking only one style of wallpaper........sometimes i like the wallpaper because of the really great bg the person has made or really good vector wallpapers (getting popluar these days), my fav characters/series and what attracts me most in wallpapers is the great effects and shiny star and all lol esp the very nice spacy wallpapers........but it's not just the style of the wallpaper that gets you but it's the compoisition and all and hope it's not over done and all

In my opinion, I think to coolest walls are those that have the quality of the background as good as the quality of the char. In other words, those with vectors and texture Why? Simple, cose the background make u think that it was made like a scan, and makes u wonder at what might happen in that place, considering that the background is containing a place like a road/city at night and stuff like that.

I can't say that I don like the other types, but the walls mentiond above are better pices of art, in my opinion.

I like simple backgrounds, but it doesn't necessarily have to be vectored.
Mostly because everything else in my life is chaotic and disorderly, so I guess the walls I like balance it out...?

i like scenic bgs mostly, but i do love the abstract, techno ones too ;] i love scenic bgs that are not only sparkly glittery, but city scene and stuff

I like nice clean and sharp wallpapers (CGI, Hi-res imagery, etc...) I also like soft walls as longs as the softness is part of the overall wallpaper and not poor artisanship. I really like colorful walls but well done single color or black and white walls are good too. I do not like walls that wash out the characters or focus of the wall by having too much going on or too much color. I am not a fan of grunge walls either but i do have a few I like.

Lately, I've always been getting vector walls and textured vector walls. I don't like over-filtered and over-brushed walls; somehow, they strike me as rather cheap and lazy attempts at art. However, I don't mind fancy-looking walls if they're done well. Same goes for grunge, since some people tend to go overboard with the scratch and splatter brushes. (Although I remember starting out liking those kinds of walls many many years ago. ) Yeah, I'm really just into clean and simple walls right now, and vectors never fail to be clean and simple. They also show that the waller is a skilled artist who knows what he or she is doing, and puts a great deal of effort into perfecting his or her art.

I prefer scenery wallpapers. Simplistic ones are nice but they're not the type of walls I'd put in my desktop. I usually like walls that have a lot of things in it.

I'm getting sick of seeing scenic ones. Abstract is nice but I think those funky ones really catches my eye along with the grunge style. Vector is ok but if there is too much, I'll get sick of it too.

I prefer something strange. Impressive and strange. I don't care which kind of it but it must have something new... lol i'm sick of the old and popular style such as cloudy sky, meadow, grass or starry sky... Just looking for something special^^

^ yeah I think I'm getting sick of those multiple (or just one) moons + brushed-on clouds + water or grass brushes.... same with the abstract sparkly, swirly, shiny, filtered background..

I like things that catch my eye, so I guess originality and style really helps there. I'd also like to see wallpapers that uses none (or minimal) generic brushes and filters.

What really bothers me is esp in the Sandbox people say the background is too "simple" and that's why it was deleted... uh, there's nothing wrong with "simple" backgrounds. There's a difference between "simple" and "lack of effort". Simple doesn't neccessarily mean bad, and it's not neccessarily a reason to warrant deletions. In fact, I think those "simple" and "clean" wallpapers take more effort and planning to make then those brush-whored and sparkly ones. Because without sparkles and brushes to cover up most of the wallpaper, any tiny mistake you make is rather visible. Also, with a "simple" background, the wallpaper is more striking. Just take a look at the featured gallery at Simple-ism and you'll see what I mean.

If I have to use Wallpaper just like a picture (a mere art work) then I can say I like clean and vectored pictures just like dark and grudge ones. But if I have to use 'em on my computer desktop, well... it have to be most clean and clear! ^_^
How can I, other way, find my icons!?!? xD

well...i like anything that took a lot of thinking and constructing....and of course, anything that is really eye-catching

well...i still prefer mostly grunge and dark wallpapers. i don't know, they look most artistic to me. though, lately, i'm more and more fond of vector/textures wallpapers (maybe because i'm finally making my own vector art,LOL).
anyway, i never look for a specific series, i just browse through the latest walls and download/fav the ones that caught my eye.

I like the sort of wallpapers that you can just sit and stare at, one that has infinite depths, so when your brain goes all fuzzy and you just daydream, you have something to stare into.

Although I wall a lot of painty scenics, I almost never use that style of wall on my desktop. I prefer flawless clean-cut designs with a modern/originality touch. Scenics always have flaws so I don't like to stare at them on my screen

i like dark wallpapers because i feel that it looks better and makes my eyes feel better late at night when i'm on the comp. There is a limit too how dark it can be for me but i like it pritty dark.

Here's another question for you guys: If you are a waller, do you tend to use your own wallpapers more or walls made by someone else (I mean generally)?

I use more of my own wallpapers actually, because that way, I can modify it to fit my weird resolution (1280 x 800, which MT currently does not support)... I'd have to do some cropping if I use other people's walls, and that may end up looking bad.. but that's not to say I don't use other people's walls at all, just more of my own stuff...

I prefer vector looking walls but the coloring should have something up with them like having texture. Lets say is a mix between a vector wall and soft looking walls.
The background can be clean as a white board or busy like paintings.

And me using my own walls... sometimes. I'm using a vector of Pani Poni Dash right now that I made. Do that count? In the past I used some other ones I had made too but mostly I go for other people walls.
