DO you prefer to watch anime in Japanese or English and why?

I'm not a dub-snob... I don't care what it's in, but whatever I hear an anime in first is what usually sticks for me...

I mean, who can really say "Japanese is Better"? How many people thought that *before* they heard someone else say it?

I love English so much that I prefer anything about English! I don't like watching anime in Japan because I don't know anything about it '^_^`

Japanese and only japanese 'cause I can learn some nem words in that beautiful language, especially when there are some english subtitles(or polish 'cause I'm from Poland). I also think that japanese seiyu are the best. For example: listen to the characters voice from Wolf's Rain or Advent Children(that is my personaly best-love the Reno voice:). They are just perfect! :D

I prefer to watch my anime in Japanese ....it sounds the best

Japanese...i think with english subtitles its much nicer. I get to hear the real voice that they were meant to have.

I prefer the Japanese audio with English subtitiles.
This is because since the dubbed version are never to what you expect, the language used and some words in Japanese can simply cannot be literally translated to English. Plus I learn some Japanese phrases along the way if they keep some words in Japanese since it cannot be or should not be translated to English. Like bento; sure it's a lunchbox but it sounds better like bento and shorter to say.

As well, since either the voice acting director or the voice actor cannot make an effort to try to put some emotion into it, the character that they are supposed to be loses it's flavour. As well, since it's dubbed, that emotion is not as great. Instead of 'URUUIIIIIIYAAAAA' (Reno in FFVII:AC) they go 'rawr' which loses it's comedic value

So preferably I like Japanese audio with English subtitles. Like really c'mon some of the voices for the characters in some anime don't seem to match. Like in Shakugan no Shana, Shana's dubbed voice is..... FLAY ALLSTER FROM GUNDAM SEED (dubbed version). Like OMG WTH?!?! That does NOT fit with a lolita character.... so arghh... sadness

The emotion is intact and more real to the audience if the audio is kept in it's original language. That's how I feel

same here. I prefer japanese audio w/ english subtitles. that way u can enjoy the anime & at the same time learn some japanese phrase :3

i like to watch anime in japanese with english subtitles, i dislike dub anime, and anime without english subtitles :)

My english is poor.....TAT|||
If I make any mistake please tell me (practice english now)
For me, Japanese version with chinese traditional subtitles is the best. When I watching TV anime, chinese dubs always can't perform the characters emotion completely, how strange!

I prefer to watch anime in Japanese with English subs. because you get more of the original message. When it's dubbed, they have to change the words to fit the mouth movements. So I like watching it in Japanese. By now, in my mind, what happens, is I just superimpose the English words over the Japanese, and it's like the seiyuu is speaking in English anyway.

I love anime in japanese with subs. I usuually can't stand the english versions though. They just suck so much!

definitely japanese version, with english or french subtitles.... Dubs are totally awful... If it were me, dubbing wouldn't be authorized >< ... the japanese voices are the real ones and are so gorgeous, and it's a complete shame to change them... it's the same for movies, as I am French, movies are translated, but I totally prefer watching in the original version (i.e. English in general XD ) !

I prefer Japanese with subs all the way! XD

I prefer watching Japanese-audio with good quality English subtitles. Really, its the best option; you hear the original voices, with the character's personality, emotions and inflection in their voices, and you can understand what they're saying by reading the subs. I find that even the best English-dubbing changes all those things I listed, usually not totally for the better, and your whole impression of things/events/characters is strongly altered.

original japanese subbed of coarse and english dubbed anime just sounds wierd

one thing is to see an anime in japanisee and another to see it in english... most of the time th eenglish voices aren't good or they lack realism

Jap's better, the voices sound cuter and more natural than english

I'd watch Jpn ver, too. -0-;

Japanese audio and English subs. Dubs in any other language are rarely accurate, and often they don't quite convey the same feel as the Japanese audio. One thing that dubbers never get right are the SD parts, where a character gets (fakely) angry or is overly hyper. It sounds stupid in English. Besides, I read fast. XD

i prefer japanese usually because the tone of expression is better. english's nice too, but whichever's anime in english will remind me of pokemon ^^'

i prefer the japanese ver. w/ subs 'cos its much better than the animes dubbed in other languages *shrugs*

japanese with english subtitles! Sometimes english actor voice is disappointing!

Actually i'm french so i'll do French/Japanese

There is no comparison between the both, Japanese pawaaa >=( The voices are worked, you can feel what is said by the caractere. In french it is sometimes so pathetic.

I first saw Evangleion in french, now im used to it in jpns. I recently watched an episode in french : OMG its is so horrible even worst than i thought (same conclusion for the english version).

For a most recent serie : Naruto. Im must say it is the same. It is like if the charactere was missunderstood. In my opinion, nothing is worth the original japanese version. XD

i hate dubs... japanese people have very expressive voices as compared to the english voice actors, and the japanese voices ALWAYS match the characters' faces...
