that's a very interesting point, but perhaps Ed wanted to concentrate on
learning about something he had no prior knowledge of, rather than exploring
further into the world he was already so familir with. i dunno, that's just my
take on it.
I believe it is because he already knew that it was almost pointless to try and
use/learn more about alchemy beyond the gate and decided to learn what he could
actually use, which is the sciences of that world. He's also still a child who
only wants to learn, and perhaps the aircraft sciences intrigued him. What I
don't get, however, is that if the two worlds are almost the same and the only
reason why alchemy is not prominent "beyond the gate" is because it
was not developed, wouldn't alchemy still work, taking the "energy"
from the lives on the other side (Ed's side)?
Well, Edward began to study science because he wants to find away to go back to
the other side of the gate. Another reason would be because Ed is trying to
extend or expand he knowledge of Alchemy. Or just find another way of using it
on that side of the gate.
Well, technically... alchemy is actually an earlier form of science... so maybe
Ed is trying to learn from the more NEW ways to get inot the other side of the
gate since alchemy is non existent in the other world...
You can't use alchemy on this side of the gate, so Ed interpreted science as an
equivalent in this world. He hoped to find out how the two worlds co-existed
with each other and how he could get back- working with the only tool he had.
Science
*SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN"T FINISHED IT*
Why does Ed start studying science unlike his father who studies alchemy once they get to the other side of the gate?

XD i was thinking of another question when i put the title so ignore the "transmuation" part

not sure about that, maybe the gate is one-way since alchemy is only truly effective on one side

...I think the chemistry is difficult...
but once you success, you'll be famous, like Nobal?
Of course purge you go to the wrong way
