yes. If You get to live forever,(immotrtal), then i guess, there will always be hope, and give your loved ones hope....and you can say to your great great great great great great grandson how it was in "your" days>< anyway......

I'd definately want to be immortal.

Nah...we actually had a debate on this topic because we read a book about immortality called "Tuck Everlasting"...one of the main reasons for dying is so that we can live life to its fullest knowing that we could die at any given moment, but if you're immortal you have all the time in the world to do what you want to and may actually never come around to doing. Oh man! i sound so old!

Well. On the one hand, It'd be kinda neat to be able to just keep learning new things and watch as the world advances (or fails miserably and restarts) but on the other hand watching everyone you know grow old and die would kinda suck. Then again with you still alive they would never be forgotten. I don't think it would be worth it unless there was someone you could live with that was also immortal and you would have at least one constant in your life.

Immortality...

Its a word that hinders a great deal of meaning wheather one can see it or not. To be immortal, to live forever. If you think about it, immortality would plague your body, as someone previously mentioned vampires. Being a vampire would be the only way to stay young, otherwise, technically you would age just never kick the bucket. But then again theory, i suppose, can't be technical.

My vote was a thumbs up for mortality. It keeps us human and allows us to get satisfaction from things that may happen for only an instace. Watching those around you die and finding new friends, only to watch them perish as well is just not my cup of tea. However, if you are the type to shrug off emotion and live day to day on your instict without a care, I can understand why immortality would sound impressing.

A prolonged life would be good for me, to stay younger longer but to stay older longer as well. Then die, happily knowing I have lived.

only if my girlfriend was immortal with me.... immortal when everyone else is mortal? no thanks...

or maybe another enemy who is immortal, so we could always fight / hunt eachother (for fun since we can't die....)

While I don't necessarily WANT to be immortal, if the offer came by I think I'd take it. As long as I still live I can help others which I what I love to do, so while certainly there would be an element of selfisheness in my acceptance of immortality, ultimately I am benefiting others and not just myself.

Not to mention being immortal would lead to a very tough life, eventually everyone important to you would die, and no doubt there would be several people unwilling to accept your immortaility and who would try to cause you pain and suffering as a result.

Not so sure. Its a quandary. Helping others due to my immortality would be magnificent. Being able to spend a great deal of time contemplating the cosmos and all its happenings would be so wonderful. Eventually, I'm afraid I would wish to lose said immortality. It would get painful to sit by and watch all this loss occur, and be unable to do anything without forsaking my own outsider viewpoint.

In response to Bleach-rukia, I also like the idea of being immortal so I can read lots of manga and watch lots of anime, but wouldn't it be worse than death to realise that you've watched it all and due to some future incident no more is being made? I just couldn't stand that!

I'd want to be immortal. Especially if I also had time travel. I could do everything in the world anytime. Then again, I wouldn't abuse it. I'd just do all i could to satisfy my best friends.

No, i would not want to be immortal. It would make me miserable to watch as all my friends and family die while i am the only one living. Also,if i had to live forever, id really probably just find some way to kill my self because 80 some years in this country would drive me nuts already...i dont want to imagine how horrible it would be if it was thousands of years...

Yeah, I would but without those catches ie. decapitation by another immortal kills me.

To live and not die could be good but if you never die, well then just imagine not ending the pain of people shooting at you with guns... too much sufferring
and also walking around the city as a 500 year old man would be quite embarrassing
