Okay, I've been very aggressive in some of my ideas recently. Things like men and boys not being able to wear dresses or skirts without normal reactions. Why do only women have to shave their legs and etc. for men? (I don't want a hairy guy...) The terms girly-girls and tom-boy. Why are girls sometimes called tom-boys if they act a certain way; "like a boy". In some religions women and childeren honestly don't seem to be treated "fairly". Anyway what do you think about this?
i second your thoughts. roles in society are certainly unfair
all
those ppl who try to create another category (like tomboy, etc) because one
doesn't "fit in" .. and maybe tease or even punish them... it's
pathetic... ( i guess i'll never understand how pll can lack
tolerance/acceptance in such amount..... makes me wanna shake my head in
disbelief the whole day....)
i think it's unfair but it was us who created these labels in the first place -.-. even though this is a bit off topic....
do we morally have these rules in our head? or are we taught them?
it's very interesting...anywho! no i really don't think it's fair. people shouldn't be labelled in the first place. i don't think it's fair to judge someone without knowing them. and yes... women r treated unfairly still
Not only women, everyone buddy... like men are "supposed" to be tough which can cause a lot of pressure on some of the more sensitive ones. Heh, this is not an attack so no killing. Please.
argh...i totally agree with nakanaide...it's annoying! it gets me mad when i thinkof how people are labeled...i hate it!
Well if all were the same there would be no way to differentiate!
Its basically not the question of labeling but the psychological effect it has.. This is a crude method used to help revert back to their original roles.. As in calling a girl "tomboy" so that she can realize that she is lacking femininity...
I know these are unfair means and offensive but that's how society has been working for a long time...
Actually, even if u haven't taught a girl how to behave like one, she still will do so out of instinct, the same goes for boys.. So any deviations from the normal are labeled as abnormal.. We all do that, don't we?
As for the clothes, they have been designed to suit people's conveniences. I'm sure even if we did allow men to wear skirts they'd probably refuse saying it wasn't comfortable (most would)!
If you have noticed even the chores are assigned on the basis of sex! Its because there are certain things that a man(woman) can do better than woman(man).
Well these days both the sexes are adapting certain features from each other...
Hm.. though I agree that, of course, labels are unfair and it would be wonderful without them I think that it is impossible to abolish them, at least in this time and age... maybe never...
Alas, the human being is just too imperfect and restricted by time... he can't deal with every individual in a befitting manner... I think even the people who have voted "unfair" have labeled people during their life...
And one thing: I agree with flyinghigh; some posts semed to indicate that women are the only ones who are labeled...
"The strong and silent type is killing men" - that is a newsweek article which describes how the the stereotype of the strong and silent man is leading men to suicides... and not only the genders are vitcim to labeling...
Races, ehnic groups, relgion, your job, your hobbies, music taste... I think every person is labeled in one way or another...
Well, just my 2 cents
