I was wondering if any of you, at any point of being an anime fan, felt that it
was time to let go of being a fan (or at least dramatically cut down your anime
watching)?
After being a fan for some time now, it seems like I can barely keep up watching
the latest series, let alone find the time to watch anything. At least in my
case, it's almost impossible to be an anime fan for the rest of my life.
It's true, It's hard especially as you get older and get more responsibility you
just can't find or even *gasp* just don't feel like watching it. I love anime
and I love the art but man I just can't seem to get motivated to start watching
another anime. And I have watched quiet a bit of anime in my time (check my
page) and thats just half. I'm not sure if it's growing up or all the animes
starting to run together but lets hope the anime industry has something
spectacular to show or else it might go down hill from here. I think your
definately not alone!
Yes I feel that way. I'm going to next level of my life and I don't know if I
can keep up with it. Maybe with manga I'll keep updated, but with anime it will
be hard for me. Though once I have the job of my dreams my collection will grow.
I don't think that I'll ever stop being a fan. I do have demands on my time;
wife, kids, job, friends ect., but I still find a few hours a week to watch.
I've gotten my kids involved and it turns out that it is another thing I can do
with them. my dughter is 15 and my son it 13. She likes love comedy and he likes
anything that explodes . That covers most of what I like too. I have been a fan
since Speed Racer and, dare I say it, Robotech. I went to Japan when I was 17
and have been am Anime/Manga fan ever sence. I'm 36 now. My collection has more
than 200 titles. Yes, there were times in life when I watch less, but I will
always be a fan.
I think that as you get older, the things u have to do increase leaving you less
time to watch any anime. I only have an hour or maybe 2 to watch anime a day,
and that is on one of my free days. The thing is people have responsibilities to
take care of and you end up having less and less time to do what you want. And
of course some people lose interest. To be honest, I can't undersand that but i
know that it can happen. I think some people do have to let go of anime as they
get older. (But, I'm not one of them .)
I know what all you are going through, I have had times where I just felt like,
what if I do give it up? What if I forget all the good times I had with it? and
those thoughts make me kinda scared, but I know that I'll be an Anime fan
forever, I've seriously known it for like almost all my life, when I was like 2
(seriously 2!) My older sister was showing me anime pictures on webshots.com, I
remember that, I have a whole binder of anime stuff we printed out together,
including Breath of Fire, and Final Fantasy exc. Don't worry about growing out
of this stuff, it's a wonderfull thing! and a good friend of mine told me, that
we can never forget our most precious memories, they'll just be...sleeping,
until you unlock them again, they'll never fade, the memories will just be
waiting. ^^
i don´t think i will stop being an anime fan within the next years!
why should i... i can´t see a reason... anime is my world... and when i
think about the money, i spent for anime till now! i dont want to stop being a
anime fan!
Well if the anime keeps going on in the direction it is going right now, I will
stop watching it.
There are too many clichés, too much copying. There was NO original anime
within past 5 years or sth :-) (though I must admit there was Melanholy of
Haruhi Suzumiya, which was for me brilliant).
So I will just wait for something REALLY worth watching :-)
They say that a man will die when he ll stop being a child.Even if I do get a
job and even if I ll have a lot lo learn when I go to collage I know I won t
have time for anime and manga but just like DeadlyRoze said:we can never forget
our most precious memories, they'll just be...sleeping, until you unlock them
again, they'll never fade, the memories will just be waiting.
I've never felt like that yet...I mean, I have been busy, but every time I am
free, I try some new anime...is that weird? hmm...i relaly never felt it...
*lol* yes, actually right now, I've lost all interest in any anime
All the plots I read seem to be alike, but that's just the only anime-thing
realted I'm doing
it working on wallpapers and drawing, not really any watching
Losing interest is most likely a symptom of too much anime. I'm still an
interested fan because I've been able to moderate the amount of anime and manga
I watch and read. I imagine the plots would start to run together if you have
half a hard drive full of anime, as many anime series draw inspiration and plot
elements from other anime series, especially well known ones.
I would suggest simply cutting back on the amount you watch or download.
Giving up being a anime fan dont exsist in my book, its a big part of my life
and practally the only thing i do get really, i draw anime, read manga, colelct
anime, so yea.. practally lives it really.
It's not so much letting go of anime as it is letting go of "azn
pride". One you realize that you are wapanese, you really how annoying you
are, and you do something about it. At least, that's how it was for me.
yeah i feel the same way sometimes but i think it does have to do with getting
older and not having much time for it and i also think that it could be that
theres not as good as anime as it was i mean sure there is some good new anime
but some times the old stuff is better than the new so that kind of depletes
some of your motivation to watch it but yknow it is good to have some down time
from it because once something good comes out and you get into it than the
motivation comes back and it feels good
Until now, I thought I'd never stop being a fan; but i've recently realized that
when I'm out of school and have a real job, there's no way I'll have time to be
as much of an otaku as I am right now. I'd be able to follow at most a couple of
series, and I would'nt have time to discuss them online like I do right now.
That's fine if you find you don't have much time to dedicate to anime. I myself
only follow a couple of series at any given time, and it usually takes me a bit
of time to finish one. It has its advantages. The few you do keep up with always
seem more interesting and original when you haven't seen the plot elements
repeated dozens of times in other similar series.
i wont let go of being an anime fan. but yea, i do sometimes dont have the mood
to watch, especially bcoz my uni exams are coming soon and i dun wanna fail them
. but in the holidays, i will watch everything though
I don't think I will ever let go of anime. The time that I had to give it up has
already passed (as some people assum, end of teenage or stuffs like that) I
still I'm a big fan. Anime is a world, it depends how much satisfaction you earn
from it. For me it's the only world that I can satisfy my imagination and inner
pleasures that outside world cannot fulfill.
I can't say i am a real anime fan. I have always found manga more attractive
than anime, and only a few select titles.
It is absolutely not that I read titles because they are manga, on the contrary.
I've always liked the anime that is original, which means not adopted from any
manga, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion. I hated that some anime turn away from
the manga's story line, especially the anime art is not up to specs, such as
Naruto. Manga is always the best to tell any story rather than anime. But, anime
that I would go after would be Hayao Miyazaki, like Princess Mononoke, Howl's
Moving Castle.

I think it will better than when you regret you have give up your favourate anime, isn't it?

some of us beleive that they don\'t have the luxury to be anime fans forever....
do you beleive that our love for anime is just a leftover from our childhood that we\'ll eventually grow out of?
