God?

Do you truly believe that there is a god. and if you do then how could you prove this to me.
or do you think like i do.
I think that we created him/her as sort of an escape. so we would feel at ease when we are in trouble, because really, most ppl out there only think of god when something bad happens, or when they need him/her. and I'm not saying that all people are like this, but let's admit it most ppl out there are selfish.

Well... let's just say that people have Gods as forms of hope, i mean i believe in God but i don't just plead to him when i feel sad or need something, i pray to him every night just simply talking. It really is a matter of whether you believe or not. True, some people use God as an excuse for everything gone wrong with their lives but others live all their lives serving him. Those who do live on faith all their lives go without ever needing proof that God exists. I have indeed asked whether they actually found anything related to the bible and apparently they have found remnants of what could be the Ark made by Noah and numerous other things. If you really want to find out, you can do some research whether it is true or not. Trust me, scientists will never be able to prove that there is no such thing as God. Have faith. But if you choose not to believe that's your choice. In the end we will know when we die so don't worry too much about it now when we will eventually find out in the future.

Hmm I agree with you, that we created all the Gods we know..
But I'm not an atheist nor am I religious.. I'm more spiritual.. I believe that its "energy" that governs all life and life's processes and hence this energy is no less than god.. after all it is absolute, omnipresent and benevolent (since it sustains life)... But in my belief u don't need to do anything to please it or worship it for that matter.. It just exists. All I do is acknowledge all the things that sustain our life and say Thanks whether or not they hear it ... I also don't believe in idol worship ..
well these are my thoughts ..

..I don't know why people still doubted the existence of God. Just put it in a simple series of questions like why do I exist? Why did the air, the sky, the universe, every particle and living organism exist? Why is there an occurence of life and emotions? Where the hell all of these came from? Based on scientific explanations, all living things came from a single celled organism, you might wanna add that to your series of question...Where the hell does this single cell organism came from?...Well, no offense to those people who don't believe in God...^-^

frankly, i don't care how we got here, or how the world is created,or how every living organism was created, the point is that we are here now, no point in thinking on something that will never be 100% accurate.

Would you care if I said that the idea of "God" was an essential one that was developed by the ancients in an attempt to understand a world that was so vast and so unknowable? Forces like wind, storms, rain, fire, all these uncontrollable things, they would attribute to God or gods. Whether or not he exists is irrelevant, all that is relevant was that he did or at least in the minds of the ancient civilizations and helped them rationalize the world when science and reason were still not capable of explaining nature. Its not so much a question of "does God exist?". It's more of a question of "are you mature enough as a species to not need God anymore?"

So... where did god come from?

I'm atheist, so I personally don't care, but I do think that god was created not exactly for hope just a really weird sense of way to explain something. It can be used as a sense of hope, just that it can be the one that destroys that hope.

ok i'll say this in a simple way becasue when when i use big words people just think i'm making shit up but simply

god by definition is a being more powerful than the current for exsample were god to the dogs and cats in the neiborhood so somthign has got to be more powerfull than us i mean if you don't belive in creation then you belive in evolution and basic luck if were here then somthing must be somewhere else and what make them not naturaly better than us i mena some of use ahve psycic powers but if they developed even in just a slightly diffrent cliamte then they could all be fully psyonic and full energy based life forms kinda like the ancents for that stargate show

god create man in his image and then man created god in his image god made man even if he started with blowing up a sun so man made god for all we know the big bang was someone going back in time and hitting god wiht some ford style spaceship and that blew everythign up and the left overs became man like the left overs of a blown up person becomes worms

I believe in God. I am also a scientist. I believe that there are things beyond our comprehension as humans. I believe in God through my faith. I know of many things that are in religious texts that have been proven correct scientifically (genetic proof that our ancestors came from somewhere in northern Africa, a genetic bottleneck in our past; where only a family or two survived, the pleiades constellation having 7 stars when man could only see 6 until we had space telescopes, skeletal remains of Job's Levaithan, ...and many more.) These things that were proven way after the time period of the Bible, help reinforce my faith as a christian and as a scientist. Time is relative in the Bible in reference to "evolution" to me, but this is my own belief.

I go to God when I'm confused, scared, happy, sad, lonely, mad, and anytime of day. I just talk to God, because He's there all the time to listen. He's there to give me advice, like I'll ask God to give me wisdom or help to make a important decision. This is just what I believe. I do believe people are selfish, even including myself. I'm a hypocrite, a liar, a theif, a murderer, and a sinner... all in the eyes of God.

People ask me... "what if you're wrong?" I tell them, that if I am... ok, so what? I've lived a good full life. But if God does exist, like I believe that He is... and I don't believe in Him... then, ouch... the afterlife wouldn't be too nice without God.
Just my opinion...

I believe in God...as simple as that.

Wow Najika is sure in love with her religion.
Me i have a different opinion.
I hate when people say god is a man. women give birth to men so how is it god is a man?
And I know there is the wonderful thing called the bible that tells us everything but what its really telling us is to be perfect like angels.
We aren't angels.

And why is it out of all the things Jesus had the bible is the only thing that was left huh?
Its because men made it they made the women less important and decided to say this is from god.
These where all holy men.All men of riches and faith.
But the schemed they need people to go to the churches to believe in their religion more and more people where killed be cause they didn't.
The bible was not a creation of god but a creation of man.

If it where a creation of god.
like the holly people say "All men are created equal."
What about the women?
We are forsaken in the bible treated as used mating rabbits and pathetic being created.
I do not believe god is real but even so with all the things I believe even in the worst of times even I will lay in my bed and ask god to make it better.
So it gets me to think what if the religion we were born with or the god we so called believed in or believe in when we where younger will always stay with us in the future even without our beliefs in him/her.
this is going to be long ill finish this later.

Yes you are right... The bible is pretty sexist in some ways. I was always wondering why nearly all the women were either prostitutes or weren't mentioned in the bible except for Mary who gave birth to Jesus. Maybe men had made up the story all together... who knows

What the hell are you trying to say here...
Do you read anything that I just put... geez...

I think even if you use big words, it'd still be unintelligible because apparently you have horrible spelling and grammar. Your post is merely blank and pointless, doubtful you even thought it through.

kinda lame...

everyones answers are great, but an answer like "I believe in God, simple as that" doesn't really help.
some ppl believe in god because thats what they were told, or they were raised that way. Or even when they started reading the bible, thats when they were enlightened. but these kind of answers("I believe in God, simple as that") don't really mean anything cause they don't explain anything.

hm, in depth explanation "Why i believe in God?" ~_~ ne?
Ok, i was raised in Christians family and yes, i admit that i was taught to believe in God. But, sometimes when i have problems i started to blame God and i know it is wrong. But, i still believe God the only One God. Why not? And if there is no God who created us? the water, plants, animals...? What else can you believe in 100 percent?
People usually take three basic positions on the origins of the cosmos, life, and man: (1) special or instantaneous creation, (2) developmental creation or theistic evolution, (3) and atheistic evolution. The first holds that a given thing did not develop, but was instantaneously and directly created by God. The second position holds that a given thing did develop from a previous state or form, but that this process was under God's guidance. The third position claims that a thing developed due to random forces alone.

so, do u believe in God then? or not? ok, whatever...i'm sorry if i sound harsh. But, that's my faith right? i have my right to believe what i believe. (also,
I have seen things that cannot be explained by science.)

I agree with you...why question God if all of the evidences in just in front of you..geezzzz..

How can you say that there is any evidence that god exists? Just because you cant explain the universe doesnt mean we should be looking for the easiest thing that your mind can grapple on to. God has been made up for almost are far back as history of humans go, it was the easiest thing for our simple minds to comprehend at the time. We are now entering a time of great technology and intelligence and yet we still cling to the idea. We are going to have to throw away our beliefs in a higher power if we are ever going to move forward, because never will science and religion be able to coexist.

I am not saying that God exists or not, I just don't believe. I agree with Ionthedemon, that people created God as a sort of escape. Someone even once said (I don't remember who, for the moment) that "if there is no god, we should invent one". It's sad, but yes, people can't just admit mistakes, so they are blaming God for their fate (I am not telling that everyone does that, niether do I say that you are doing this, whoever reads that post. But more and more people think that way, especially in Poland). Again, it's just my personal opinion. No one have to agree with me.

for awile i questioned it my faith my belife and my parents yell and screem they say"if you dont belive youll end up in hell" but i dont belive and there is no such thing as hell so why do i have to care? i dont. there is no problem with any religion i just dont belive its right and if they want to question me lol ill tell them what i think of there religion

I think what ionthedemon is looking for is evidence/fact so when someone says "look around you''(no offense to anyone), it doesn't actually prove anything, a statement such as that would be an opinion in that persons mind it might be a fact but in reality it's subjective.

I personally have no faith, i do have my own humanitarian views but i do not believe in a deity .

Well said Lordhellsing.

My sister says the same thing and I just say "don't believe in Hell" and she says "that's a sin" and I say "don't believe in sins". It's a fun little game we play.

Hang strong foxmagic71851. You're not the only one going through something like that.

I believe in God partly because I think the evidence available to us calls for his existance. The fact that we continue to discover parallels between nature and the most complicated of machines that we design calls makes the design hypothesis the default one for me.

Other than that, without an assumption in God, the world makes little sense. What are moral values anyway except the mere opinion of those in power in society. Why do humans universally think some things as good and others evil? It makes absolutely no sense in the eyes of evolution. Why would a man willingly die for a child? His altruistic genes would be lost then. Why do gays exist? They can't procreate! Perhaps these are just flaws in the engine of evolution you might say, but what constitutes a flaw and what is perfect? Does a perfect standard of behaviour exist without God?

Moreover, we are built to find meaning in life. Does a life without God have meaning? Why bother to debate his existance? So what if you are right? It doesn't matter one bit in the end. A rich man and a poor man. A wise man and a complete idiot. Don't we all have the exact same fate?

I guess some of these might sound more like questions than reasons, and there are others I have thought about. But simply speaking, I find it hard not to believe in a God.

Yes life without God has meaning, at least for me.

Why because i define what the meaning to my life is, to help others, to live my life to the fullest without hurting someone.

As to why Homosexuals exist, because they are born that way, 10% of most species on the planet are Homosexual or show Homosexual tendencies. Why they exist as in a reason for why it happened?, well they do so does it matter?, it's their bussines their not hurting anyone.

Flaws in evolution? Granted nothing is perfect, but evolution has evidence and fact, you just subject the evidence to your own personal view( you have every right to do so, i can be guilty of the same) , but you have no true evidence just opinion, but religion is not about evidence, god is not about evidence it's about faith, and that is one of the major differences between Science and God.
