It's like asking if it can be 100% proven that there is a God. You just can't do
it. Then again, you can't 100% disprove him either.
So in essence, I think that existence is where you have lived, and have not been
forgotten. For example, I believe Gallileo Galilei existed, because he has not
been forgotten to time.

But what about the "where you have lived" part? I mean, like with
Gallileo, if I can't actually see him with my own eyes, how I do I know he existed? This is where the "have not
been forgotten" part comes in. I do know he existed, there's proof of that.
So, for instance, what if I believed in, let's say... Peter Pan, the real Peter
Pan, who can fly, fight, crow, and do wicked voice-imitations. What's to say he
never actually lived here at some time? I believe in him, don't I? I won't
forget him, and as such a classic he probably will not be forgotten. Sure, no
human can fly, but if we can't 100% prove or disprove God, then can we really do
that for flight since supposedly everything's possible for Him?

Hehe, who's to say he didn't exist? *wink*
I do believe commen sense plays a part in this as well. It's not really
explainable. But would you automatically assume that someone such as Peter Pan
once lived?
You know you exist. That's really all that matters. Even if you're actually
just a figment of someone's imagination or something, to YOU, YOU exist and live
in the present.

Maybe... Well, I
understand the common sense part, but I was just using Peter Pan as an
example.

Well said. ^^ I think you're right. Thank you! ^^ Can't really add to that,
since it seems really right, but I guess people can't help wondering, even if
just out of curiousity.

Heh i
wanted to say the same... if you played the game "Star Ocean: Till the end
of time" you'll know what it actually means to exist.
If your aware of yourself, even if others aren't, then you know YOU exist,
because YOU feel yourself, you KNOW you exist...i bet death is like that ?
everythings black but you can hear yourself? that would be sad though xD maybe
your memories get erased and you take on another body of a newly born human
beeing...
neways, as long as you accept and are aware of your existence you truly exist,
even if others dont know that you exist...
i mean there is to much "common sense" to prove it is not
true
if he created life and humans, how come most cultures in the world never mention
him?
you just have to read what was documented in the dead sea scrolls ( did you know
Jesus had a brother but if you ask any christian they will go crazy at you )
hell even mel gibson showed him the passion of christ
and how come in the middle east ( jearuselim ) there are people with modern day
angelo names like Mary, John, Jason ect
3/4 of those names didnt exist back then ( there actually shortend versions of
longer classical angelo saxon names )
so why on "gods!!!" earth are there jews with angelo names?
the bible contradicts itself in just about every way
at one stage in the bible it states there should be no symbols of faith or
temples what so ever
and that you should fear god to show your faith
yet why does every one pray at church ( a temple of faith ) or use the cross as
a symbol of being christian ( its agaisnt gods laws )
hell one of the laws are "thou shall NOT steal" yet Jesus when he was
8 stole bread and got punished by gaurds for it ( its written down even
)
Jesus was a real person ( even the romans and hebrews say that ) but he sure as
hell wasnt gods son
If we are not remembered by anyone (we know or care for in our lives) then we do
not exist...
Existance is what ive been searching for all my life, a place to belong even
though i know im here on earth sitting on my computer...but right now i still
feel like im not there, you know that feeling where your in society but people
see you as a shadow in which case you have to standout someday or someway. God
is here on that high heaven in the sky, love is life and death is just a
temporary sleep...we live to exist but most of society just exist to live.
hm if you had friends or at least people that knew you its enough of a
"hint" that we were alive. but shouldn't think about the sense of our
existence?
- definitly no i
was born, i was alive, i didn't do really important things to the coummunity (or
i dont think i'll do) i died. if nobody cares i do neither - if i could
i dont think my existence is important compared with the whole wolrd but its
important to some friends and at least for myself. i'm fine with it and it
shouldn't change
I dreamt I was a butterfly.
I couldn't tell if I was dreaming.
But when I woke, I was I and not a butterfly.
Was I dreaming that I was the butterfly,
or was the butterfly dreaming that it was me?
Even if there's a difference between the butterfly and I,
the distinction isn't absolute.
And there is no relationship of cause and effect.
my definition of existance is the fact that people know that you do exist. If
noone in the world knew of your existance then you wouldn't exist at all.
(basically the way serial experiments lain defins existance)
To me, existence doesn't really mean you have to do something extravagant for
someone to notice you. You exist because you were born into this world. For
those who were and are touched by you, they know you exist, and so you exist in
their hearts. Just because you died doesn't mean you're gone. If someone
remembers you, you exist in their heart. Doing something fabulous is an awesome
thing, but that doesn't define that you existed. If you lived your live and did
what you were here for then i'm pretty sure you existed, cuz existing in the
world means to make a difference, whether positive or negative. But that's just
my point of view, so there.
your existance can be proven by the actions that you do when you are alive. So
if you've acocmplsihed something memorable that benefitted anyone else but
yourself. you are remembered for that deed.
Life brings many happy moments, but when we run into death, what prooves that we were ever alive?
Japanese females ..... Hallmark cards ..... photographs ..... my birth certificate ....... the fact that when i pinch myself it hurts ....... japanese females .........
How about the fact that some post like this exist somewhere on the internet, created by someone, say perhaps kuro?
thanx, that shure creates my existance
What proves we weren't alive?

This is all very complicated. @.@

Ah yes. I forgot about that. You can't prove anybody else's existence, but you can prove your own existence to yourself.
Heh

i guess memory is the only thing you can refer to for a proof of existance, or else it'd be meaningless? something like that :3
To me life is a dream .. it can be bad or good but all that matters is that we enjoy our life in the 'Dream' before we move to the next when we die ^^
i dont belive god exists at all
i mean there is to much "common sense" to prove it is not true

Less good oxigen and more pollution.
just
kidding
surely the thing's you do, thoughts and things that get left behind.

Thanks for all the replies, there seems to be a lot of poets and philosophers out there.
