What is the best photoshop software besides Adobe?

I wouldn't say this is the BEST other than adobe, but it's a pretty good program that's actually pretty simple. Corel Paint Shop Pro 8+

Maybe the GIMP? I have a bias for open source software, so don't mind me. I've never edited a photo before in any program, so I wouldn't know.

Sorry that i don't know because I only use PS! Don't know about other software! But my friend use Corel, may be it good!

I think photoshop is better than Paint Shop....and I think the cs2 version is wonderful!
but if you wanna become a grafic designer, you must use cs3 version.......it's....WOW!

I personally only use Photoshop. For free programs GIMP and Paint.net are both good, but i don't think that they match up with Photoshop. These are the only ones i know of.

I like photoshop a lot. However, my favorite alternative is Paint.NET. It's free, open source, has layers, and all the basic stuff. GIMP is nice if you can manage it, but I find it a real pain to learn and use (and I hate their exploded window interface).
