I don't think Athrun loves Meyrin. They both care for one another, but not in

since she was the one who helped him escape, IMO. It's like he owes her a life

what will happen then? We dont really know. Infatuation may lead to something
more... I prefer to keep an open mind.
I'd say the director could have thought of a better plot than making Athrun
having multiple affairs with girls other than Cagalli. But this is not the case.
I'm really mad when I saw the Final Plus ending. Meyrin, why did she have to
walk off with Athrun? At least there was some distance, since Athrun was walking
in the front, therefore probably Meyrin likes Athrun a lot. I won't accept the
fact that Meyrin sacrificed everything to be with Athrun since Cagalli is meant
to be with Athrun! Nevertheless, Athrun hugged Cagalli while deporting in the
special edition! So that's a proof which means the bond of AsuCaga is still
strong as ever!

No, I don't think he could love her that fast. I agree with the idea that he
feels a great deal of gratitude for her help and they are propably going to be
good friends.
Meryin is sweet and I like her, so I wouldn't be devestated if her and Athrun
hooked up, but I feel like she is a bit timid for him - more little sister
tagging along than love interest. Cagalli has such spirit and I think that's one
of the main reasons Athrun is attracted to her.
Even in final plus when Athrun and Meryin walked away together, it's not like
Cagalli could be there - she has a whole lot to deal with after the mess of the
war. Besides, it wasn't like they were snuggling like Lacus and Kira. I still
have hope for Asucaga!
I don't think he could, but he doesn't seem to love anyone other than Kira and
Shinn anyway. Though I like AsuMey, I think it would be more of a slower
process. Athrun needs to move on from Cagalli and Meyrin has to decide if she
even wants to be with Athrun. I don't see why they can't be together. They are
only teenagers anyway. It's silly to marry them off to each other so soon, or
for AsuCaga to get married. They just all need to date each other and get it
over with. AsuCaga have issues right now and need time apart, maybe in the
future they can work things out (or maybe not~). If they can work on things in
the future I'd be fine with them, but relying on things that happened when they
were 15/16 years old isn't a great way to build a future and lasting
relationship.

cagalli just need to fulfill her responsibility to orb being as a leader..besides, athrun understands it..
