Check out this youtube video on the news. What are your thoughts on this occurrence? I thought this was downright hilarious. I am thankful that this does not mention anime at all. Though I believe that this does have the potential to explode ...

I don't know wherever to laugh or to cry. I mean I can't get how there's people who actually believe and get concerned about it.

I hate it when people do that. But hey the kids obviously got mental problems

well people should have a way to express themselves. everyone has a lipstick list of the people who have wronged them. i think in the case stated, he got cought with a written list. writing down your fealings and thoughts can be a healthy way to work things out. you should not get in trouble for writing, isn't that a 1st amendment right in the us constitution? he should get help dealing with his problems if he needs it, but he should not get in trouble for expressing his thoughts on paper.

I wonder if its the same as having a little black book... you know, of people who've made you mad. Why people make them is their own business... people need to let things go. Hopefully, there was no harm meant... however, these are the times we live in. You should have an idea of the reprocussions of your own actions... there are always consequences to every action.

LMAO...

Omg... well my comments... hmm.

the kid shouldn t have brought it to school.. unless it was to play with his friend(like mine did)
and from that Video we can see how media in America tend to dramatize stuff
LMAO

oo let me add one more thing -- HARAM --

So, the moron keeps a list of people he'd like to see dead (probably including descriptions how), and expects not to get into trouble? AND, judging by the video, that book/note contained a lot of names.

As for the first amendment thing; it does grant you the rights to say whatever the hell you want, but it doesn't protect you from having to face the consequences of whatever idiocy is coming out of your mouth (or pen, in this case.)

I hope he stays expelled until he grows the hell up.

They Found Kira XD!

omg another case of a kira follower? O.o people doesnt learn that kira got caught xD

HOLY CRAP...

good thing i saw this video... I was planning on making an imitation notebook too... 'cept i've only had one name in mind for the past several months.

well, now if i do make one, it'll only be for halloween or something and there wont be any names inside.

Funny, they forgot their freedom of expression.Whats so wrong about writing name of people you want dead?So long as you don't try to kill them for real.

What about the school's freedom of expression, as in "we don't want that kind of insane shit in our school"?

And "What's so wrong about writing names of people you want dead?" Are you kidding? Isn't anyone seeing anything wrong with that? I mean, we're talking fellow students here, not insane dictators or homicidal maniacs.

How would you feel if you found out someone has written your name in a book from a fictional universe that would otherwise kill you? In very specific ways, if added? I don't think I'd take too kindly to someone wanting to see me killed, even if he doesn't have the guts to make it happen.

I'm going to say this again: Maybe people should have the right to say anything they want, but that shouldn't stop them from having to deal with the consequences of their words.

haha..I love how they don't say its an anime(or there words a cartoon) people need to not take things so seriously. Both the person and teachers. Its just a story(yeah sometimes I go around thinking hey what would dante do, but I know he is not real.) I have made a death note I use it like a reagular note book to write things in, I even have my name in it. (though I have already graduated school, I probably would have the thing taken away from me b/c it says "death")

I absolutely agree with Northy! You can have your freedom of expression, but you sure as hell better be prepared to deal with the consequences of your actions! People are quick to cry for their rights, but no one wants to acknowledge personal responsibility. "Freedom of Expression" is being abused and turned into a "Get Out Of Jail Free!" card. You have to start drawing the line and holding people accountable for their actions.

And that child may have "rights to expression", but what about the other students rights to feel safe at school? With all of the school violence that has been happening I'd be angry with the school if they overlooked this issue. If you let them off with "freedom of expression", what if you end up letting off a student that really is troubled and ends up hurting/killing someone? Brushing it off as a joke or an outlet is not only irresponsible, it's downright foolish. There are healthier ways to vent than to make a list of people you wish were dead, and honestly, that's a bad sign to me because you're obviously dwelling on the fact you wish they were dead.

Quote by KareiNoTenshiI don't know wherever to laugh or to cry. I mean I can't get how there's people who actually believe and get concerned about it.

Of course it's an issue! There are people who write hit lists and kill their fellow students!

Quote by sovo-kunand from that Video we can see how media in America tend to dramatize stuff

Dramatize? I know our media can get carried away with trivial stories, but this is a kid who wrote a list of names of people he wished were DEAD! You don't need a lot of dramatizing to look at that and realize that something's seriously wrong here.

Quote by sovo-kunhowever they should consider who did he wrote in the deathnote if it s teacher and friends.. ok that ok it s a joke

And why would that matter? If it's a joke that kid has a sick sense of humor, especially considering the number of school violence incidents that have occured.

Writing a list of people that you wish were dead is healthy? And what about the people that have specific "deaths" written out for them? I have a feeling that there isn't anyone here that would honestly be comfortable if they found their names written in a book that listed how someone wished they would die. For every action, there is a reaction: If you're going to write your thoughts you'd better be prepared to face the reaction of others.

well I think it could lead to a very dangerous thing...because where I went to school at there were plenty that made these death notes long before the anime was ever released and well they started arresting the people and kicking them out of school because they saw it as a death threat, a future threat to be carried out towards those names...it's sad that people would be so careless to leave a public death note, I mean come on if you are going to start one or a hit list then by all means don't let people catch it and if people snoop then by all means have a good memory :)

hmmm.. you prove your point... but how many ppl did he actually written names in...
OR maybe the people like teachers should consider to take their responsability and act like real teacher... because teachers are suppose to support the student in his decision or prove that his decision are idiot or not ...Also what about the parent don t you think they don t play a role in it... they should have paid more attention to their kid if..Because if what you were saying were true.. the parent or the child surroundings are the one to be blame.. ppl in this continent are getting more and more individualist WHICH is a big problem.. because that way the kid is felt left alone might lead into some fishy though because they NEED TO BE LISTEN yet have nobody to turn to..... said IF he was attempting a school raid they should be the first person to actually know it.. if the kid watched the anime he should have understood what he was doing was wrong.. which i share the though.. but.. BUT the MEDIA kind of didn't help the kid... the should have explained the source in a more precise way.. it felt way too idiot.. they actually look for that site which is not even a official site... because from my point of view if he really wanted to killed those person HE WOULDN'T HAVE possibly taken out the death note in front of their faces and write their name on it.. because i m 100% sure that he knows it s not gonna happen... .. but if he though that it might going to happen... FROM that should we seek to help that child... from my point of view it s a calll for help too to be ....

BAH i m just babling now ... hmm... SORRY FOR THE GRAMMAR LOL
(I didn't learn a good english)

who cares let them do what they want whither they were just playing around or are for real who cares when they do something then get them
duh
and does it matter any ways i mean for reals how many of u have had something similar me if he does something than hes stupider than normal but other than that who cares.

Ah, maybe the kid just doesn't have many good friends or something. So he needs attention. People tend to do that!

I don't see the harm. Nothing wrong in keeping a list of people you would like see dead. I believe as long as the kid does not kill anyone on then the list should be protected by the 1st amendment of the U.S. constitution as freedom of speech/press. I believe that this kid's rights have been violated and those jackass school officials should be left for dead somewhere in siberia. People are just too sensitive in the U.S. just cause a few kids got shot by emo jerks at school. Loss of a few peoples lives should not be reason to lose our freedom that so many have died to protect (i.e. WW1,WW2,revolutionary war, etc.). As long as the person does not infringe on another's right to live then they should have the right to wish openly wish them dead. The kid may be disturbed but that doesn't make him a killer, so leave him the heck alone and stop making a big deal over nothing. The kid was probably just playing around. Probably didn't like the people whos names he wrote but that doesn't mean he's going to kill them.

-End Rant-

I know this negates the credibility of my argument somewhat but i can't resist.

KIRA is GOD

Is he just a huge fan? or did he really want to see them dead?

I mean, like...

Argh...I don't know how to explain...

I had that book with me always in my bag.Found it somewhere..but I have yet to write the names.
If you knew the real rules of possesing the Death Note, you'll think twice.
Obviously,that kid is a dummy.

Then, what it the first place that makes this guy wrote those names?Isn't it because those person makes him angry and always disturbs him? This guy is the victim of his friends arrogance.Seems to me that he wrote those name in the books because NO ONE would help and listen to him.

Anyway,WHAT can a F%#$@ book can do?If that book really made the target die, then you can punish the guy,but it doesn't have any effect at all.

I rewatched the footage just to be sure, and nowhere in it does it say that the suspended student was a victim of anything but the suspension itself. According to his classmates, he might as well just have been a self-proclaimed loner who has decided he doesn't fit in anywhere, so he isn't even going to make the effort. My guess is that he identified too heavily with the anime in some way, but unless someone can actually provide more material on the story, I'll hold back any more really specific assumptions.

So, basically, the fact remains that he carried around a book based on a magical book with the ability to kill people, and filled it with names of classmates for no discernable reason. So, he gets suspended for an indefinite amount of time, probably based on how cooperative he is on offering an explanation.

Doh! And I used the word "expelled" in the first post I made in this thread. I meant "suspended". I apologize if it caused any misunderstandings.

man, i live in Virginia and even i didnt hear about this. shows how much i pay attention...
