Happens. Like for example when class starts, if we have a sub-teacher, then
he/she will have to check the name list and list them all and check all... you
know? Then, when it comes to my name, he/she always say my name and then say
"Is he here?". So if they've never seen me before and see my name
first... they'll assume that I'm a guy. Can't blame them though, my name sucks
-.- (and I'm a girl)
You reminded me of a time i was beta-testing one of the few popular MMORPGs that
is still running right now. It's not GuildWars though...something like it.
Forgotten about it. It's Free.
My Pal and i created a Custom Sexy Crystal Maiden Heroine (SpellCaster) And
there is this quest we have in need of to complete. So, there is this function
whereby, your hero/heroine can perform actions like Singing, Strumming a musical
instrument , war Dance Etc etc. We did a Dance. A Dance for Help.
^^ Soon enough, all those jerky Male Warriors are attracted to that eye popping
dance. Some even asked for our actual address. We don't
comply. " Er...help me please. Pretty please " , my mischievous
partner typed.
After that grueling quest, one in particular still doesn't realise the point.
That it is just an online MMORPG Beta testing. " Can i have your Contact no
O`Fair Lady? "
I watched it with amusement as i read my partner's expression. He
typed.
" Dude, I am a Male beta tester for Lord Sake ~ Get a Grip into Reality !
"
That Player Ran off and teleport to some town and never came back. ^^
Seriously, everyone on the MMORPG game are just players. Who the world cares
about gender ? Everyone just want some accomplishment and satisfaction in the
game world. If someone comes along and contradicts your gender by saying an
earful, what gives ? It's just a virtual world. I remembered 8yrs ago i got
totally owned by a 13 yr old Korean in Starcraft and all i need to know was,
" How in the blazes you do that ? " He replied, " I don't know. I
just love the spirit of commandeering and victory. "
He spoke in pure fluent English over MSN contact we had exchanged later. X_X And
i thought it was a she and a 21 yr old then cause his team-mates kept public
msg-ing over the same username i assumed was a female player.
It happens all the time, Rai. You'll meet all kinds of people who will mistaken
your every detail as something else. I got mistaken lots myself.
Reason...partially. When we play games, we create a virtual image of our heroic
self to others in world we live in. And that character will inherit some things
we want our hero/heroine to behave like.
Sometimes, people just mistaken because of alot of reasons. It's a psychological
theme.
Heh, this happens to me about once every couple months. Someone will take a
quick glance at me, notice the long hair and assume I'm female. Then they
actually look at me and realizre their mistake. Of course, then the jokes come
about being a girl from my friends. Hehe, I guess that's what I get for having
long hair
well, if you're looking for another person like you, then i'm the one.
there're habits that i unconsciously did, like twisting his hair, cupping his
cheeks, sitting cross-legged in woman's way. There was even an incident when i
screamed like a little girl every time i'm frightened by something/someone.
not only that, there are more to say. and most of them are not deliberate act.
however, i must say i'm more comfortable of being a "female" than guy
here. it just projects my true emotions, in contrast to you.
my family knew that, but did not told me directly. only my lil bro will scream
at me for that.
RaiMinakami18, I know just how you feel. It happens to me as well, people talk
to you and then they say something that would only make sense if they were
talking to a girl.
It can be pretty amusing really, I also don't make a big deal out of it, and
don't really tell them I'm a guy unless I have to.
The fact I use girly wallpapers, like girly movies, drink girly drinks and so on
doesn't help much, but I said I "like" them so I'm not going to do
things I dislike for the sake of being manly.
Well, when we talk about online games and RPG, there are time that we are not
sure if a female or a male is controlling that character, I often don't believe
on what people say in the internet. Some players specifically men, act as if
they really are girls to attract male players and well, let them be their sugar
daddys, get what I am talking about?
In your case, like being misinterpreted as a girl, being mistook as a girl
because of some expressions is just normal. It is because we communicate user
verbal, like chatting and all. So we can't really express our selves actually.
So, don't be that bothered if you were mistook as a girl in a Online game. I
also experienced that, and yes, I play RPG games. I always use girl characters
since I am a girl and I love it, but sometimes, other characters don't believe
that I am really a gurl. Duh, because they believe that I am really tough if I
am girl. But, I really don't care. But, being mistook as a girl in real life is
kinda scary you know... Me too, I actually act less feminine when I was in high
school and my classmates really believe that I have a heart of a boy, not a
girl. Because of my actions, well, I didn't really cared that time. But when I
was in college, well... ehrmm... I change... to be more feminine... I realized
that it feels uncomfortable you know... But still, I am still the aggressive and
uhmm... sporty type. XP
There were many times that everytime I answer the phone the caller asks me, e.g
"Hey, boy is your mother/father/sister, there?"(translated in
english)... And I say to my self... What the? O.o... It's really annoying...
errr...
Do you really know what you are? Are you really sure that you are straight? If
YES, then why be bothered? You don't have to act that manly if it is
uncomfortable to you, if you are a MAN then you are a MAN! period.
Quote by RaiMinakami18Yeesh.. I'm
100% guy for heavens sake..
And not a gay..!
With some sort of a femenine side..
or so they say..
Haha weird much
lol.......being feminine does not mean gay, unless you're opting to be
transsexual woman. (Then, it will mean you as 'new woman' falling in love with
guys)
i was thinking.......since i'm so like a girl, yet i still have feelings for
girls, am i M2F [Male to Female] lesbian? lol~probably......
but i'm happy with that, since in my personal opinion, girls are luckier than
guys
(in terms of fashion trends and beauty and so on).
though many guys may disagree very much with me, it's just my own opinion; no
offence
yea...there was a time...in a hotel...i called the operator...asked a few
question n she said "hold on, MA'AM"
like what the....
im a guy!

oh yea i've had a classmate (male) put his character as a gurl in a game so he
can attract guys n make em give him freee stuff after all its normally the guy
that gives a gurl fre things if they are like bf/gf
Personally, I'm usually mistaken for a guy. Not in MMORPGs (I don't play them),
but in forums. It's extremely rare when someone thinks I'm a girl, in fact, I
don't remember that ever happening. Online, people always thought I'm a guy, and
sometimes on the phone, if I get it, some strangers would think I'm a guy, too.
Not that my voice is deep, on the contrary, I have a soft voice, but it's the
way I speak with strangers (cold and rough), one might think it's a very young
boy.
But hey, I don't mind that at all. So what if people mistake you for the
opposite gender? Nothing shameful in that
Honestly, in here (MT), I decided to do some change and act more
"feminine", by putting a more "feminine" username and well,
acting more feminine if that exists...
but from what I know, beauty is often associated with women, and with a guy,
being mistaken as a woman, could possibly mean you're beautiful, pretty.... DOES
NOT MEAN 'gay' so don't think its a bad thing, society always puts out what men
should look like and what women should look like, its detrimental, but good
sometimes.
but look here, from studies and from what I've read so far. beauty is further
associated with symmetry, purity, a person with a kind heart... aren't those
traits good? Girls would dig you and guys also dig you, then you must be pretty
pretty, and add on those other traits you have... then no manly guy could ever
get as many guys/girls acquaintances ever! its a good thing, since we live in
such a judgemental world, its good to be liked from both sides.... it can be
beneficial to you. but only if you're liked, only if in this case, if you're a
guy... being mistaken as a girl...
Not that I'm saying a girl being mistaken as a guy isn't good, its just a new
way of viewing things, girls are standing up for themselves now, being more
independent of people's closed minded values and beliefs, Its not the usual... '
they should be proper, decent, composed, a nice figure, non-aggressive'//
instead, they're being themselves, so don't worry if society deems it as a
'weird' bad thing, its just that we haven't lived long enough to appreciate
it.
girls being mistaken as guys, if on phone.... i really don't think it happens
often, i may be wrong, just 1 in 100, nothing wrong or special... and if online,
then there's no arguement, cause online, you can be anything you want, say
anything you want, and do anything practically...
btw, you may think that because of the username i have, the tone and vocabulary
I use, I'm a guy... But in fact, I'm a girl ,
No I'm not, that statement is false, I am a guy, It could be that easy? a few
statements? a few words? well, for the topic starter, you use alot of those
smiley expressions, which I think you know, is key for people to assume you're a
girl... according to society's standards, and I'm sure you all know this quite
well, and need not me repeat, but I will for my sake:
Guys: macho, protective, strong, intelligent, agile, higher spirited, blach
blach,,,..
(mostly caused from the human male/female makeup, males over the years are
reported to be larger in general, compared to a female, thus, people, having
nothing better to do back then, associate them with what seems right)
Girls: slim, not aggressive, intelligent... i need not say more,..
and people around us, reiterate these very facts to us, what we are Supposed to
be, its WRONG, that's one thing I know to be sure, those ads, those subliminal
stuff, people accept it, thus everyone would eventually fall prey to these
things, its horrible, it ruins people, it makes them not who they should be,
which is themselves.... really getting off topic here.
Its awesome, so to cope with these situations, giving them a pat, like kokuyu
said is a good idea, or just be u. like u as in you
Well when i play MMORPGs, mistaken not happan with me event i play a female
character. most guy play game so if saw a female character all guy character
know that is guy not girl. eh. in case chat just use like"Hi!
xxccx(char-name) party!" or "Hey you! How many lever?" or "
Have something to trade?" that can't make other player think you are girl
event your character is a sexy elf in Lineage II.
people from online communities often mistake me for a guy. can't say that i mnd
to much. it actually amuses me when someone calls me "man" or
"dude".
even in rl i've been mistaken for a guy and got a good laugh from it. too bad
those are rare.
Hmmmm...I have long hair and a beard...I'm bigger than most males and relatively
hairy (testosterone...what a wonder '). On the
phone people always assumed I'm my father - since my voice broke the first
time.
When I play RPG's (even 1st person shooters) I tend to play female characters -
if I have to look at a character for any length of time I prefer it to be
female. But when people refer to me as chick or girlie, then I take it that they
refer to my character and not to me. I tend to give them the benefit of the
doubt...
I think that must happen a lot. It\'s the same thing that can happen with the
ages.
I\'m a guy, but I\'ve often been mistaken with a girl in forums. It\'s not
someting we have to be ashamed of, it\'s rather funny ^^
But why this happend?
In the chat or something like this?
I can't know if you are a boy or a girl only looking at your nick.. because
maybe if you have a nickname like "Misaki" you can be a boy or a
girl... and here, in Argentina, the name "Ariel" is for a girl or a
boy...
I don't remember if i have this mistake before...
But is a really good topic
Thinking about it so much..
Ive been playing online games for quite
some time now.. And most of the times, other players
Mistook me for a girl..
Through online communities.. it rarely happens
to me to be mistaken for a girl...
And on one occation.. I remembered someone telling me
that I sound/talk more like a girl than a guy...
That I have some sort of a girlish attitude or something like that..
What the..
Weird much
Anyway, has anyone of you ever had a situation similar to this?
Happens. Like for example when class starts, if we have a sub-teacher, then he/she will have to check the name list and list them all and check all... you know?
