Whoo, this is my first thread in a long while, ne?
Well, I've watched a number of good current and new series( like Code Geass,
Haruhi, GS and Gundam 00 among others ), but I keep hearing( or reading ) about
"old' or "classic" series that people say are very good, so I
check them out( I found Cowboy Bebop to be awesome, although it was released
years ago, like 1997 or something, but it's now one of my fave "new"
series...and also Jin-Roh, which I've watched recently is very good too...) and
well, I've never been disappointed.
So, can anybody recommend any more "old" series to me? I mean, there
are a lot of old anime that I haven't seen, probably because they were made
before I could watch anything and understand lol...
Waah, thanks! Komaka-chan, there are a lot of Gundam series before Seed, right?
I keep hearing about Gundam Wing(?) and Stardust Memory, are they good? Slam
Dunk, hmmm, it's about basketball, right? ( I guessed because of the title... ),
oh, and are there any good football anime? I'm a big football fan!( soccer to
Americans...)
I'll be sure to check out the series that you mentioned. Gracias! ^_____~
Ayashi No Ceres!
it's my number one beloved anime for the rest of my life!
reason woops~ personal haha
other than that...there is Gravitation, Yami No Matsuei, Gungrave, Pretear,
etc...(i mentioned whatever i can think of at this moment )
as for football anime errppp...i can't think of any right now
Ranma 1/2 is an old anime that I warmly
recommend, drawn by none other than Rumiko Takahashi.
Then there's also Record of Lodoss War if
you're into the fantasy genre.
If you're into comedy, there's Dragon
Half. It's short, only 2 OAV episodes, but it's hilarious.
And you seem to like mecha (since you've mentioned Gundam). Then Martian Successor Nadesico is highly
recommended, as well as Neon Genesis
Evangelion if you haven't seen it.
Ahaha...lols, Elena-chan, you certainly know a lot of anime...hmm, I've heard of
Gungrave annd Ayashi no Ceres a lot here in MT, as well as Evangelion( although
some people say it's confusing? Why is that? ), and thanks for the suggestion,
Jose...
I have a lot of catching up, it seems, I'll have to find some free time when
school starts again, though...^^'
A quick question: By 'old' anime, by how many years back are you talking about?
I notice that a couple of the series mentioned, albeit great selections, are
only a couple of years old.
IMO, Stardust Memory (Gundam 0083) is a pretty good choice, Char's Counterattack
is a great one if you like the original Gundam. Wing is excellent (truth be
told, the series that first got me interested in Gundam).
If all else fails, try out the classic Miyazaki films like Nausica or Castle in
the Sky.
Hmm old anime I'll have to think about that a little more, but just off the top
of my head.
If you liked Cowboy Bebop you might want to check out Outlaw star. Kinda goes
with the whole space theme.
A whole heck of alot of gundam series out there. The original is definitely a
must if your looking for old anime. Just be warned it does get a little cheesy
same with Robotech. Gundam Wing isn't too bad, but definately check out 08th MS
Team.
If you don't mind romancy type comedies, there is always Ah My Goddess and
Tenchi Muyo.
Hmm, I think as old as can be( lol ), as long as it's good hehe...^______~ Hey,
I like your siggy Spystreak-san, from what Gundam(?) series is that? And what
does n00b mean? Lol, I'm ignorant when it comes to English slang...
Oh and noob means newbie, new guy, freshmeat, freshmen. Something along those
lines. Well in this case your the new person to anime since you don't know about
alot of the older or I should say "classics" of anime.
Hmm, old anime is it? I guess I have to say 3x3 Eyes, because a) I love it, and
b) it stays true to the manga for all but the end of the last episode. I also
recommend All Purpose Cultural Catgirl Nuku Nuku, in all three versions although
the OVA is the best by far. While I'm at it I might as well add all the old
Studio Ghibli films including Grave of the Fireflies [probably at once both
their best work and their most depressing], Ghost in the Shell, Key the Metal
Idol, and a number of others that I can't recall the titles of at this moment.
Anime Oldies huh?
BubbleGum Crisis was pretty good
Cowboy Bebop is a good western/space anime
You're Under Arrest is a pretty good police show
The Lupin series is alwasy fun to watch
There are also classics like Akira, Ghost in the Shell (the original movie),
Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Macross.
ranma 1/2...tenchi muyo .... or ninja scroll i thought were worth watching, there
are more but..i like those and others but that is all i can think of soo have
fun i guess and sorry i couldn't help more ^^
im only gonna list things that are older than 4 years old since idk what you
consider "old"..itll be quite a bit since i dont know your
preference..these are also my recommendations.

and they fight them with robots... if you see that then it's the right anime
Most of the good stuff has already been mentioned. Here's one that's a real
classic but is not in any of the above posts. If you can, get your hands on
Gunbuster: Aim for the Top! This anime is
what rekindled my interest in anime a million years ago.
If you watch Evangelion make sure you see the movies End of Evangelion and Death
and Rebirth. Plus i've heard more movies are being made, but i'm not sure.
to me, as it also centers around the video cassette stuffs of the 90s (before CD
takes over the technology trend).......it kinda reminds me of my childhood times
its concept is quite original too, with a 'magical' girl appears out from
something unexpected in front of a lonely guy, which i think some other later
animes like 'Ah! My Goddess' & 'Please Teacher' could have borrowed its
idea, though (i apologize if wrong )

If you like robot action stuff try watching Macross or even the older gundam animes it's a bit good
Well,Macross and Gundam, like Gundam Zeta or Gundam G is quite interesting if you can't ignore the arts.It was made in 80's after all...
And I also find the good old Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X a good one.Its quite long and interesting.
I also will suggest Slam Dunk if you were looking for sports.
D.N Angel is also great, its not that old though.

Oh I forgot,if you're looking for crazy fight DragonBall Style,I reccomend YuYu Hakusho
How about GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka). It's a great anime and you can even learn something from it. It's really cool, I recommend it.

Watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. Now. You're a n00b until you at least do that.

i gotta add another rarely-mentioned OVA, which is Video Girl Ai.
it's a
1992 anime (of comedic, love-themed with little ecchi scenes)
some reviews here:
