The good side of VLC is that it's got his own codec pack, but sometimes it fails
to play a certain types of files, personally I use CCCP codec pack with Media
Player Classic and additional Alternative codecs to play quicktime and realtime
files and it works perfect.
I use Windows Media Player and downloaded the Combined Community Codec Pack. It
lets me play everything. You can download the pack here: http://www.cccp-project.net/.
I need a god player that can read these formats:
-avi
-rmbv
-rm
-flv
-mkv
-wmw
-mp4
-ogm
-ogg
Tried VLC?
I'd say VLC or MPC. Personally, I like MPC.

Media Player Classic...
If its filesize of 4mb is too big for you, then compress it using PECompact.
I shrunk mine to half, and it's still functional.
Before
After
KMPlayer,GOM player,ALShow have codecs already installed
for real video format, get the real alternative codec
I and everyone i work with uses VLC, it's pretty good.
