Should gay marriage be legal everywhere?

City Hall

Minitokyo » Forum » Main Fora » City Hall  Should gay marriage be legal everywhere?

Quite agree with B5Freak. But I still won't go against or for. Mystikalam has a good point too...

I think it should be legal. I´m fed up with goverments and religion. We´re not sheep that needs to be guided, we have brains. But in fact I think marriage in general is a nuisance. Even for heterosexual couples. I prefer we all have rigths and obligations, but not marriage

I don't think any government or laws should prevent people from marrying whomever they want.

Yes it should.
Why?
Everyone deserves to be have a chance at being with the one they love, and possibly losing ½ their stuff in a messy and elongated divorce proceeding.

I think Kinky Friedman said it best when he stated that gay people should have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us married folk. Seriously, it shouldn't be that big of a deal if two men or two women want to marry.

I dont see a big deal in the gay marriages either. its not that i like gays a lot or anything like that. but i mean why not? i understand when church starts screaming against it, fine it goes against christianity so ok lets not let them marry in a church but marrying in the chamber of marriage or whatever law institution handles that in ur country. whats wrong with that? i say gays should marry all they want and whoever they want.

Really, there's no good reason to not allow gay marriage. I'm not an expert on marriage, but I believe there's some kind of fee involved. There's a lot of money that could come from gay marriages that could be used for various government subsidies. "God forbid if two dudes want to love each other."

As far as I'm concerned, marriage is a religious ceremony, not a state-sponsored one. If a couple's church agrees to marry them, the government cannot be allowed to stand in the way. The marriage license should simply be a legal recognition that a religious ceremony has taken place. Furthermore, non-religious couples (same-sex OR opposite-sex) who wish to marry should instead be joined in civil union if they cannot find a religious authority who will marry them. Marriages (religious) and civil unions (secular) should be afforded the same rights of tax breaks, automatic power of attorney, etc.

BTW, it was actually Clinton that signed the Defense of Marriage Act (close to the end of his second term). Bush IS all about "Family Values," though.

Those people are just like you and me and everyone else, they just prefere different things than we do, it is their choice to do that, so they should be allowed to do as they please. So i say, yes, gay marriage should be allowed in EVERY state.

There is another thread that is similar to this "Homosexual Right or Wrong?"

Well if you read my other post (really long) in that thread you'll know my opinion, so i wont repeat myslef here (even though it will earn me more credits :D)

I am 100% for gay marriage.

I'd like to see a poll regarding this matter ( but not only with yes or no, should be 1) Yes-I'm religious 2) yes- I'm not religious 3)no-I'm religious 4)no-Im not religious) reason for this is to show how many people are choosing solely based on their religion or religious influences

Forgive, but I haven't read the previous posts. ^_^;; I don't want to go read 14 pages worth of people expressing their opinions, but I'll put my opinion.

I don't think it's right that people discriminate agaisnt Homosexuality because these people love each other as any other normal couple do and just because of their gender difference why shouldn't they marry as normal people? It's the same love as they have if they were a woman and man...so..why does their gender have to change everything? Now, i'm not going on about how if your gay your "unique/special/etc." but they are just as normal as the rest of mankind. Also, this country (U.S.A) is suppose to be/have Freedom of Religion and government shouldn't have a say in whether gay marriage should be allowed or not. Government is suppose to be seperate from everything else except making the nation the best it could be for supporting the people. (I'm not trying to imply homosexuality is a religion) Now, yes, I can see majority of the people saying they want gays to not happen and put laws up, but how is that going to stop homosexuals?

Well, I stand by this. I think people should leave homosexuality alone and treat them just like you would if they were man and woman, and if you don't like it, then just as the very least accept it because homosexuality is always going to be around.

On my reply 24 wks ago and all those who chose to twist my words, I will say this, read the words. I didn't say "satan" created gay people, I'm saying it is put into their heads by him. Somepeople say that religious people is narrow-minded, well you haven't gotten to know them yet have you. So quit prejudging other people. Anyways atheists too are narrow-minded. I know many atheist people and all they do is criticize the lives of religious people. So don't say you know religious people when you don't.

If gay marriage was fully legalized you don't know how much problems that will cause, at least wait until

I really don't care what they do. Gay people can do whatever they want for all I'm concerned.

Ok sorry i just thought of this. I dont care if someone already said it cause im not ready 14 pages of posts to just to check, so im gonna say it again.

You religious people say that being gay is a sin. Ok i agree with you gay is a sin (besides being biologically unnatural)
But also adultery is a sin.

So why would you want gay people to commit two sins when if you let them get married they would only be committing one?

Quote by melony If being gay IS wrong, and I'm saying it's not, then they'll pay the price when the time comes. I say YES to gay marriage, no matter what ban Bush tries to pull.

If it IS wrong, why are you encouraging it? Also, it is not...normal...two men cannot reproduce and continue the human race, which is the reason people have sex and for Christians(I'm not sure about other religions), sex outside of marriage is a sin. I doubt there are quite alot of people who love to sin for the sake of sinning, espicially if they know that they may be burning in hell for all eternity because of this.

We ARE sheep that need to guided, and we need to be guided by the shepard Jesus.

You're fed up with goverments and religion? If there were absolutely no guidelines or rules or laws, how do you think the world will be like?

Without marriage, men all over will be having sex with the first hot babe that passes them. HIV will spread quickly and most of us will be dead.

Without marriage, men may not feel the need to stay with the women they have impregnated and the women may abort the baby, feeling that there is no one there to help them raise their child. If they DO proceed to have the baby, they may abandon the child when they feel like they can't raise the baby alone.

Without any parents to look out for them, the baby may die of starvation, dehydration or it may do something stupid, and ends up dead...

Nope. I am 100% sure people are not sheep. I looked at a picture for comparison and no I nor any I have seen bares the slightest resemblance to a sheep. Perhaps you mean to speak metaphorically? If not i must say your insistence that humans are some kind of mindless, woolen, quadrapedal, farm animals is quite puzzling.

Ever notice how Christians against gay people always quote the bible on how its an abomination don't mention that the bible also says to love thy neighbor and don't judge others? I guess they skipped a bit. My main problem with religion is the hypocrisy.
Love they neighbor as long as hes the same color, religion, and sexual orientation as you are.

We already have problems since gay marriage isn`t fully legalized.

I mean seriously, what is wrong with gay marriage? Sure, most religions won`t like it but it`s LOVE! What`s wrong with love?

And in the 1600`s women running was a sin, well it isn`t now. Anyways....what Melony is really saying is that gays will pay the price if it`s a sin.
