As I watch Code Geass. It keeps passing my mind that somehow CODE GEASS and GUNDAM SEED seem to have almost the same story ?

I don't know if you guys agree with me in this..

but first and foremost.

[B]KIRA AND ATHRUN are friends in the story that end up fighting because of their beliefs and what should they protect right ?

[B]LELOUCH AND SUZAKU they are also bestfriends who end up in different sides because of their race...is it *if I am not mistaken*

KIRA AND CAGALLI are twins, who only discovered that they are when Cagalli's adopted father died.

[B]LELOUCH AND EUPHEMIA are also brother and sister but only step. Not completely related.

[B]ATHRUN AND CAGALLI they fell in-love with each other even though they are different.

[B]SUZAKU AND EUPHEMIA they also fell in-love with other even though Suzaku is Eleven and Euphemia being a Britannia.

LACUS AND C.C are somehow the same *I think*, they both fell in-love with someone who has power and always do what they is right

LACUS AND EUPHEMIA they both had pink hair..hehe

Yeah, I thought that as well when I was watching Geass. What can I say; Sunrise is great at copying their own stuff.

Similarities between shows of this ilk is always going to exist. Fact is, a lot of this stuff works when it comes to story telling. Keep in mind that Gundam series are almost always alike in comparision to one another, with only minor tweaks. The thing that really sets the two apart is that in GS you are following a bleeding heart "I just want peace" while CG you get "revenge shall be mine". That little bit makes them different, especially when it comes to the way the story is actually told, despite their similarities.

I found more similarities between Code Geass and Death Note. These two animes have the same sort of feel and idea to them, but in a different setting.

Never watched Code Geass though I want to. Haha :P Though I did read some reviews and yeah it has a similarity with GS/GSD.

It's no surprise if they have some similaritites....
After all, they're made by the same studio: Sunrise.

For me, the similarity is mostly in the character design which is quite surprising (the chara designers are different)

Lelouch -->> Shinn / Kira
Euphemia -->> Lacus
Cecille -->> girl version of Athrun
Kallen -->> Fllay Allster

I guess there are similarities (the one I saw most is Lacus and Euphie, both pink-haired, and peace-loving), but like shoujoboy said, you can draw similarities between characters for a lot of series.

However, in terms of plot and setting, it's very different, esp with where each one progresses.

I think Lelouch is more like Light Yagami from Death Note than Kira or Athrun. He's got power to kill people, and will do so to advance his own agenda without feeling much guilt. In a way Lelouch vs Suzaku is like Light vs L (from Death Note); such as how L doesn't know Light's secret identity (of being Kira), and Suzaku doesn't know Lelouch's secret identity (as Zero).

The Death Note comparison is also a good one. I wouldn't quite compare Suzaku to L, but Lelouch and Light are both excellent examples of anti-heros in anime. I definitely sympathize more with Lelouch's agenda than Light's, though...

yeah they do seem alike (character wise) like euphemia and lacus totally look alike cuz of their hair eyes and hair.
I agree with MapleRose when she says that Lelouch and Light are alilke with they are both trying to create a new world...Also by the brown hair, Suzuaku really reminds me of Kira from Gundam Seed

SuzakuEuphie's love story was a tragedy (Euphie died cuz someone killed her)...just like ShinnStellar.
Kira and Athrun are best friends turned enemies just like Lulu-sama and Suzaku.

I argee with the others that say there alwas going to be similarities. since most of your storys deal with friends on opposite sides. It a common theme. As for the other parts the more you watch of shows the more you notice that they have similarites since thtas what drawed you in the first place.

anime is like real life movies, they start running out of ideas so they start using ideas...but in this case it's from themselves, which isn't plagerism just down right boring...oh and for those with cartoon network and adult swim in a few weeks as is going to start airing code geass

I saw some screenshots of Code Geass and instantly drew the same conclusion.

Then I actually watched the series, and changed my mind. Because I actually like Code Geass, and not Gundam SEED =3

Sure, some of the character designs are the same; but that's just about it. I agree with others on here about Lulu being like Light and Euphie being like Lacus, but that's about it.

It's a very comon storyline, when you get down to it xD

i liked code geass,
imo the outer stuff is like gundam seed but the inner stuff is like death note

Suzaku vs Kira/Athrun? (same as Lelouch?)
Euphemia vs. Lacus/Meer (pink hair)
C.C. vs. Flay (influence main protagonist)
Kallen vs. Cagalli (tomboyish)
Lelouch & Euphemia vs. Kira & Cagalli (siblings, in C.G. half sibilings)
Lelouch & C.C. vs. Kira & Flay (relationship)
Suzaku & Euphemia vs. Athrun/Kira & Lacus (relationship/lovers)

and Lunariha the "somebody" who killed Euphie was Lelouch since Euphie was under the Geass' control and Lelouch didnt have much a choice whether to kill her or not...
...not to mention that Suzaku went mad after her death...

i don't find both anime similar at all. but then, now that you guys/gals mentioned it, it does look similar from certain points of view.

IMO, with the amount of anime being produced in Japan, there are bound to be similarities between stories set in different context. perhaps, gundam seed's way of handling the characters is the best to evoke empathy & feelings for the anime, so they made it this way in code geass? just my 2 cents.

I saw code geass for the first time and i though suzaku was someone from gundam seed xD then i saw again an ohhh it wasn't! is something new xD but anyway i really love code geass :P what makes me laugh is that lelouch have less noise than shin xD at least hahaha make him more atractive :P hahaha

^customservers, totally agree. didn't like shinn that much, but lelouch is wayyy better in looks, personality, and intelligence

really, CG is a mixed of DN/GS as put above:
the supernatural element from DN (but lelouch is totally different from light! light kind of went crazy after a while, but lelouch still keeps his head cool)
and the mecha/war-theme from GS [only from the point of view of the war-loving side]

DN/GS/CG are ALL great animes =]
we watch them not because they're similar or because of their similarities, but because of their differences, agree?
