In the city or region where you guys live, are there a lot of anime fans who you
might randomly meet in public, or might you be one of the few (or perhaps
'only') fan(s) in your area?
I live on the west coast in the United States (in a suburb of a big city) and I
can definitely find myself bumping into meeting random anime fan every once in a
while. Whenever I go out to the mall or hang out around campus, there might be
at least one person i might notice talking about anime, or perhaps wearing some
anime-related apperal.
Of course usually that isn't necessarily an everyday occurance, but simply from
the availability of anime stuff at my local bookstores and videostore, I don't
really feel all that "alone" when it comes to finding other fans where
I live.
I suppose it's possible that there are fans in my area, but I've certainly not
met them. I'm in a small town so I guess my chances are a bit smaller. I'll be
on a college campus soon, so I'd expect that to change shortly.
Oh yes... there are quite a number of fans in my area. Living in the same state
and type of area as Invictus21-- if there are kids around, there are almost
guaranteed to be anime fans around. Also living in an area where there is a high
asian population doesn't hurt much either.
We have a functioning anime-enthused community (oddly enough, some of us are
also involved in Theatre), though I think our school's club is in trouble.
However, I have seen a small amount of people reading manga whilst on the bus.

Yes, where we live it is indeed more likely to find anime fans, what with the
general number of people that live here overall.
Though unfortunately, I'm not quite near what most California fans say is the
epicenter of anime fandom in the state (that being the sunny, Comic-con
headquarted San Diego).
sadly there aren't many in my area, and the ones that I do meet actually shy
away from the area, like they are ashamed of liking anime, I ain't I keep on
browsing and admiring and renting, buying but I'm one of the few that don't
really care what people think and I voice my opinions to them too
hahaha angelxxuan they shy away thats hillarious why do they do that i cant
think of it . well there arent many fans near me but i m promoting anime i
know 4 people in radius of 5 km who are anime fans. i dont usually get time or i
would go to anime meetups which is held randomly by few people wher they usually
exchanging animes
I dont have too many anime fans in my area that i know of, about 10 or so. But
it is growing since we got a licenced anime channel on our satellite service
(even if they mostly show repeats). People start watching a series, get
interested, and then get hold of fan subs to watch it on their own time (coz 1
ep a day on tv just takes too long)
There are a lot of anime fans in my school (location: Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia).
Some are closet fans, you'll only start to notice when they get together to talk
about their favourite series. As for the more obvious ones, they'd be sketching,
talking about anime to their non-anime fans (sometimes in vain) and fangirling
over their favourite character. Now that I'm a college freshie (Petaling Jaya),
I find a few anime fans here and there once in awhile, and it's nice cos it
reminds me of my friends back in school. As for my housing area back in my home
town, I think there are quite a few anime fans except I haven't found them. If
not, what would explain the quick disappearance of anime/manga related magazines
and comics from the bookshop shelves?
As I've discovered there are quite a few anime fans around where I live. Most of
them unfortunately are closet fans, though there are those rare few who happen
to be intense hardcore anime fans. Due to their intensity though many
"non-anime fans" tend to look down upon anime or develop a hostile
opinion and view on anime. Which is sad, because they're missing out. It also
tends to make closet fans even less willing to bring their hobbies or likes into
the open. Which is also a pity.
That pretty much depends on your definition of "area".
If you mean neighborhood, then no. I have no neighbors (it's
complicated).
But there were a lot where I used to go to highschool and there are tons more
where I go to college right now.
There's a big anime event happening every month, after all.
yes!there are many peoples just like us in my country!^^and then in my country
there are a lot of manga, anime and games can buy!sure got a lot of peoples same
like us!
