You know...there were some people that had some problem with Vista compability.
Didn't detect your hardware, working but some times crash. And why Vista still
had that registry thing. Registry is the most potent source for creating
virus.
No thanks, I will stick with my XP 'till I am ready switching to Mac. Mac
doesn't know registry because build based on UNIX.
exactly it depends...
now i haw both, XP and vista in dual boot.... because many softwares don't run
on vista, too.
So, now i still use both on my laptop, but for my desk, witch is obsolete (
Athlon XP 2600+ ) i will use Xp since i upgrade it with a most performant CPU
and more Ram ( at least 4 Gb, i think is the minimun to run sVista with some
programs like autokad and structural software).
But all depend in how many time the software house make our programs capaple to
run on this OS.... No program... No Vista!
Hum, as long as my current computer is well functional, there isn't no need to
upgrade to Vista.
Windows XP, 2000, 98, 95 are still very functional though the only inconvenient
is the software installed once you upgrade, some might not be functional
anymore. WinXP is enough, since most games I play need XP anyway. :P
I recently bought a new laptop with Vista, but reformatted with XP. I'll move to
Vista when it's really necessary... especially since Vista is kinda funky and
offers nothing new except the annoying request for permission whenever I do
something....
I have had Vista almost for years, since it was Longhorn and as it evolved into
Vista RC distributions. I got my license for Windows Vista x64 almost a half
year ago.
I'm sorry, but I'm anti-free software as well as anti-Linux-ist (so I don't use
FirFox)!
I even have Leopard (no details) on a different HDD on my machine. Why? because
I like these two OSs and I recently upgraded all my hardware to high-end
ones.
Problems running older programs? that's an old excuse. I'm running most of my
original programs on Vista. I even have a virtual machine.
Annoying security confirmations? well, Leopard does also have them, yet not so
ugly, but I don't mind.
Converting to vista is quite the upgrade. The OS is very demanding and if you
don't have optimal hardware... it will be worse than XP. Vista is still in
testing stages I would say. XP is definately more stable.
Before i use windows XP i am getting viruses by just finding material over the
web, mostly of them are China website. So i am bored with killing those virus or
watever.
Until my college offering Vista Ultimate for only $12....................I dunno
why they selling so cheap on my college.....but wat i know is we are getting
original cd-key.
For me vista is almost impossible attack by virus and a very minor minor
programs that are not compatible with it. MOSTLY OF THEM ARE DOUJIN GAMES
Nope. I'm happy with my Windows XP Professional, although it's only Service Pack
1. Vista has a lot of bad press and since I'm in college, I see a lot of ppl
with new, Vista-enabled laptops having problems. Another problem is the fact
that it's quite different from your usual Windows, not so nice for those who are
used to the older versions. So, I feel that practicality far outweighs the fancy
Aero Glass look and the new gadgets. Maybe I'll upgrade some day, when Vista's
already stabilized or maybe if Windows comes up with something new, then Vista
will get knocked off the hack list.
I have XP Pro on my main system (custom built by me) and Vista on my laptop (it
came pre-packaged with Vista Home Premium). Vista is pretty and at some point in
time I will upgrade to the 64-bit version of Vista for my main system but there
is no compelling reason yet to make the change. I usually do a complete system
wipe and reload of my Operating System once every 12 to 18 months so that I can
maintain a nice clean stable system. As far as upgrading, if you already have
XP, I'd suggest waiting for another 6 months before considering an upgrade. It
is definitely a resource hog. By waiting, you should be able to get all of the
proper drivers that are compatible with Vista for your hardware.
vista is still too new and like the others said not all programs have vista
support. as far as i'm concerned the only new thing about vista is the GUI and i
really dont see the difference in DX10. so i guess XP is still going to be
around for a long time.
with the current status of vista and another OS on the way ALREADY!(apparently
it's being called windows 7) looks like i'll be sticking with XP even tho my pc
is vista capable
Nowadays, for gamers at least, the comps we use are enough to run vista.
Ive been usin it on my laptop for a year now, since i couldnt downgrade to xp
due to lack of drivers, and to tell u the truth, i really like vista.
Ive had no compatability issues, using freeware, xp programs, and a lot of
different hardware.
Most of the extras people dont want can be turned off quite easily once u get
the hang of it, I think most people have gripes because they lack the experience
with vista.
That said, I've had far more problems with xp, on every pc/laptop ive had
previously, not too sure why either, probs would always just pop up.
Price-wise, as always over-priced:/ but if it comes with yer new comp, then id
suggest tryin it for a month before switchin to xp.
I got a computer with Vista a few months ago. And I finally got all the drivers
I needed to downgrade to XP SP2. I will wait a couple years before I will try
Vista again.
Besides, you it's crap when Microsoft Corp. can't effectively upgrade there
systems to Vista
I dont know yet. I dont have a problem using xp now so the need to change its a prety long way from here.
no. im anti-Microsoft...
Yeah, I will probably upgrade to Vista. But not before the price drops and the initial problems associated with using a new OS gets resolved first.
vista is really better, especially if you have a huge database of something to work with, the built in search feature is really really nice

NOO! XP is enough, Linux is better (IMO)

Nope...
The system requirements for Vista is overkill...
first linux
