Asuka...But I dont think that Shinji/Asuka is a perfect pairing... Rei and Shinji are more perfect - she can connect with him like noone can, she can understand him well and would be at his side when he would need to..So perfect...Too perfect... She can synchronize with him right away in both - dancing pad or life...

But it isnt how the life goes - for us other person is always a mistery we never can full take the other person thinking - we can try to synchronize all our life with that one paticular person and still blow up the landing in the end (like Shinji did with Asuka)...

Shinji and Asuka road isnt perfect - its marked with mistakes, regrets, flaws, hatred and pain.. But that is the road to humanity and to real world...

For me, its the imperfectness that makes human so very beautiful, thats why i will always vote for Asuka and Shinji... Their suffering is ugly and beutiful in its true human-like nakedness...

She might be clone of someone else, but she's an absolutely different individaul, posessing her own soul and character. She's perfect, composed and sensible person and can be a calm and peace to someone like Shinji

YEah! I totally agree! After watching the series for a second or third time (i forgot), I definitely think they should be together! ^__^ they look so cute as a couple...^^

Kaworu really loved him for him and his humanity and his weaknesses. Asuka is a total bitch who wanted to make everyone resemble the picture of them she had in her mind, and gave him a hard time over stupid things...
Rei/Shinji sounds good, but it's just so weird, and they are both so cold and detached...I could see it in the manga, but not the anime
