I listen to anime soundtracks and J-pop for a number of reasons. First of all,
most of it's very unique-sounding and therefore has no direct American or
European counterpart. Also, I think that female Japanese vocalists in general
have beautiful voices. They're my favorite female singers in the world. As for
the "normalcy" of my musical choices, lol... I grew up listening
mostly to video game music (which I was laughed at for in junior high), and I
listened to Rammstein (a German-language band) even before I got into
Japanese-language stuff. I guess, for the most part, if it's catchy or it moves
me it doesn't matter what language it's in.
J-music are just cool, n the song's nice, i dunno why but among of all foreign
languages around the world, japanese are the most enjoyable to be heard..
For me the songs are just unique. You won't find a similar beat/tune in any song
here in the US, plus I just love to listen to people speak Japanese. The
language just flows beautifully to me for some reason. I have nothing but anime
themes and character singles on my MP3 player!
well not just becuase i watch and like an anime, becuase i like the music. Even
if i dont understand, i could still listen to it because of the lyrics that
sound good with the beat it comes with.
I listen to both anime and non anime music. I guess I just listen to anything
good that I get exposure to, and since I watch anime, some of my music comes
from there.
As for lyrics, I don't really mind whether I understand the language or not.
Well I've been asked this before too. I like almost every kinds of music but
like someone already pointed out many of the lyrics are quite meaningless (of
course there are exceptions) so I usually don't like music in my mother language
because even if the beat is good and the tune too, I tend to be distracted by
the lyrics that sometimes are pretty stupid... As long as it sounds good to me
I'll listen to music in any language and if I don't understand I don't mind
that. Also I like music with vocals more than those without. Other reason for
anime music is that you don't hear it everywhere all the time (in the radio, on
the tv ...) until you're sick of it, so its quite good.
I used to listen to songs in english as a kid long before I learned the
language. Maybe that's why even today I rarely pay attention to the lyrics in a
song, regardless of whether I can understand them or not.
Well, I just love the sound. I guess sometimes it makes me feel relaxed, but
mostly, I just think that it makes me happy. ^^
Actually, I like Japanese so much that I'm going to take it next year when I'm a
sophomore in high school. I chose Japanese as my elective (since I'm already
taking Latin, im just giving up one of my free periods for Japanese =]).
Quote by Ethiwenthat's true, most of the
popular songs that I listen to do have pointless lyrics, which makes them fun to
listen to sometimes
Whenever I feel depressed or mad, I always tend to listen to foreign songs, like
chinese or japanese songs. I don't know why, but it does make me feel better
Don't know! Maybe because you can find very nice song attached to most of
animes. Sometimes I like them because they are touching and suite well with
anime, and sometimes I like them because they boost my energy or have an effect
on me whether it's sad or happy.
It's not the lyrics that important, it's the music, and sometimes the music can
express things that lyrics can't, anime music reminds me of that particular
anime, and i like the slow instrumentals as they help me relax
I like to listen to it. Somone put a lot of effort to compare it with anime. I
apreciate this, so I listen to songs that are nis, even thought I don't quite
understand them ^^
if it sound nice to my ears i will listen, regardless whether i understand the
lyrics or not, jsut ask your mum does classic have any lyrics, why do ppl still
listen to them...
ans is: its sound nice to them so they listen, same for jp op/ed/ost

Same here lol..
Why do i listen to anime music? Because it's in the anime...and I don't watch without sound...
After I keep hearing it I start liking it, similar to why preteens like all the current trash music just because it's all around them.
And as I'm someone who likes instrumental music, it doesn't at all bother me that it's in a language that I don't understand.

it s not about understanding the lyrics.it s about the pleasure of listening to a nice song.It sdoesn t mater that it s in French or Japanese.

just a change of pace. if ya listened to the same thing over and over again, you'd get pretty sick and tired of it.
