I'm a Catholic activist, but... husssh! Don't tell anyone my opinion:
It's so hard to be happy in this life, that if someone finds his better half in
someone his/her best half in someone his/her same sex... let them be! Happiness
is hard to get.
Anyway, seeing how heterosexual marriages usually send their happiness down the
toilett, I don't see any reason how homosexual marriages will do better.
I have a gay friend (yes, believe or not, here in Mexico they go to Church) that
had a lot of trouble with his partner... usually happens that an homosexual
truly falls in love with a bisexual guy that doesn't want to leave his family
and life. Double cheater. And he beats both, the wife and the lover.
The problem about marrying someone, it's that usually two selfish people join
their lives to continue being selfish one towards the other. Or one is blind to
the truth about the other.
It goes against everything I believe, but at the end of the day, maybe R.L.
Stevenson was rigth in "Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde":..."let your
fellows go to hell the way that best suits them"... or something like that.
I read it in Spanish.
It may sound cruel kids, but if you want to be happy, marry someone who loves
you MORE THAN YOU LOVE HIM/HER.
I think I'm getting old and sour. I'm not believing in marriage.

Quote by Rebel428I don't intend to
present a fallacious slippery slope here, but seriously: if we extend
"marriage" to be more than between a man and a woman, where do we draw
the line? Why would it be okay Adam and Steve to be a couple and live happily
ever after, while I'm not allowed to satiate all of my sexual feelings by having
a harem or marrying a twelve-year-old? Or relatives or corpses or
animals?
Haha, That's a good one.
Quote by Rebel428The best solution is
most likely to abolish all government involvement with "marriage," and
just call it to something more along the lines of "procreation
support" instead (with maybe a couple other provisions for hospital visits,
wills, and such). Problem solved. No more issues about same-sex marriages, and
fewer financially-motivated marriages and divources damaging children's lives.
Removing government involvement in marriage would take care of that entire big,
terrible mess.
Sounds like anarchy, but you know, this is a point I didn't see. Here in Mexico,
and in waaaay many other countries, THIS ISSUE IS USUALLY USED BY POLITICAL
PARTIES AND CANDIDATES IN CAMPAIN. Like in everything. They do not really care.
THEY WIN , THEY FORGET. Or they usually bring it back only when it suits them,
TO MAKE WAVES IN THE WATER. Politics... bleagh!
well.. Homosexuality has been existing around the world as far as any history
goes.. so i think there is nothing wrong with these two person in the same sex
to love each other (these goes for lesbians too).. However, I myself doesn't
approve the existence of homosexual behaviour of a person. Probably because i
have been raised in a culture where homosexuals are supressed..
I don't really care if to homosexuals or lesbians get married.
have fun with that, it doesn't really affect me. So, I think they can do
whatever they want.
i'm agree with what have u say!^^i'm totally think that homosexuals or lesbians
together are not bad.as long as the lover together what for should i stop them
fall in love?^^this is my opinion
Yes it should be legal. There is no difference between gay or heterosexual
marriage. The couples(the serious ones)live happily and truly love each
other.
Now a problem with the Bible. How many have read it and actually understood
it?Are most people the kind that don t see the forest because of the trees? Not
very impressive.
got religious standpoint, if god meant for people to be gay, he would allow them
to reproduce because thats the goal of all species, by this i mean its
automatically in your DNA
kinda like saying if god didnt want ment o wank, they woulda made the arms
shorter xD
from a apathetic standpoint, they can do what ever they want
Quote by melony
If being gay IS wrong, and I'm saying it's not, then they'll pay the price when
the time comes. I say YES to gay marriage, no matter what ban Bush tries to
pull.
If it IS wrong, why are you encouraging it? Also, it is not...normal...two men
cannot reproduce and continue the human race, which is the reason people have
sex and for Christians(I'm not sure about other religions), sex outside of
marriage is a sin. I doubt there are quite alot of people who love to sin for
the sake of sinning, espicially if they know that they may be burning in hell
for all eternity because of this.
Quote by yumikichiI think it should be
legal. I??´m fed up with
goverments and religion.
We??´re not sheep that needs
to be guided, we have brains. But in fact I think marriage in general is a
nuisance. Even for heterosexual couples. I prefer we all have rigths and
obligations, but not marriage
We ARE sheep that need to guided, and we need to be guided by the shepard Jesus.
You're fed up with goverments and religion? If there were absolutely no
guidelines or rules or laws, how do you think the world will be like?
Without marriage, men all over will be having sex with the first hot babe that
passes them. HIV will spread quickly and most of us will be dead.
Without marriage, men may not feel the need to stay with the women they have
impregnated and the women may abort the baby, feeling that there is no one there
to help them raise their child. If they DO proceed to have the baby, they may
abandon the child when they feel like they can't raise the baby alone.
Without any parents to look out for them, the baby may die of starvation,
dehydration or it may do something stupid, and ends up
dead...
So you're saying that everybody who gets married right now, since marriage is
SUCH A STRONG BOND, is automatically a perfect couple? Have you ever seen
divorce rates? Do you know how many men and women have affairs? Yes, your
religion says sex outside of marriage is a sin, but since when has that rule
ever been followed to the extent that it's made a difference? People have sex.
When a man and a woman have sex, it's, many times, on BIRTH CONTROL. How does
THAT comply with your reproduction theory? And, since we're not living in the
18th century anymore, why would we want to base a marriage on convenience? A
marriage may have ONCE been just to keep the baby healthy, but we ought to know
by now that that is a miserable way to live. People keep prattling on about
"its a sacred institution" and not "tainting marriage" but
marriage, if you keep it defined as it is in the bible, is beyond tainted
(though, in my opinion, for the better), and people need to give it up and admit
that MOST marriages exist because two people loved each other and wanted to make
it official. A man and a woman, in fact. So if ANYONE is to blame about
"tainting marriage" it's the men and women who slowly expanded their
brains and decided marriage is to be something more than a good form of
reproduction. So the old definition has no meaning now. It's dead to most of the
USA. And with the new definition, what could possibly be a good reason to keep
two people from getting married? A man and a man, or a woman and a woman, would
like to make it official. Where is the problem?
And besides all that:
It's not like once gay marriage is accepted everyone will become gay and the
human race will die out. Ugh.
It already is legal in my country, but still, discrimination exists and that's
exactly what I don't understand. What's wrong with being lesbian/gay?It's not
like they're aliens or something, now are they?
I have an aunt who's lesbian,I grew up knowing she liked women, but I did not
realise the fact that she really was lesbian until the age of 13. It didn't
shock me,like, not at all.I grew up with knowing that, and I realised that even
when I know this fact,that doesn't make a real difference,after all,my aunt is
still my aunt,right?
And if I'm correct, the divorce rate of man/woman couples is waaaaay higher than
the divorce rate of gay/lesbian couples, which gives me the impression they try
their hardest for eachother, not giving up on eachother after a few
fights.
And be honest, don't you love to see how two people can live happy with
eachother, without any trouble with people who think it's unnatural?
I,myself,don't know yet if I'm straight,or lesbian.But even if I were lesbian,I
wouldn't really care, because,it's about finding the one you love the most, with
whom you could be the most happiest with. If that would be one of the same sex
for me,then so be it,it's not like I choose to be lesbian.
You can make it hard for yourself by not accepting the fact and force yourself
with the opposite sex and be unhappy,or just accept the fact you're gay/lesbian
and find that one person you love and become happy. But also the acceptation of
your surrounding is important, when you know that most of your friends or family
are completely against it,you'd rather go with someone they'd prefer than with a
person you would go instead.
I think it's part of the increasing intelligence, the higher the intelligence, the
more chance you have these kinds of things happen. I wouldn't be surprised that
if animals become smarter in a few hundred years, they'd have gay/lesbian among
them as well,at least, that's what I think. Right now, they only mate because they
need to produce offspring,we used to be like that too,but now, with our current
intelligence,we do it more for fun,not only for getting a child. (heck,I doubt
an 18 year young couple would have a child on that age already, some do,but it's
mostly not recommended)
So,to make a long story short: yes,it should be legal everywhere, and I hope
that'll happen soon, because even lesbian/gay have the right to live a happy
life.
Marriage is already a joke. The government wants to step in and impose it's
morality of "marriage should be between a man and a woman" as if that
is somehow sacred. If that's the case, why not a limit on how many times you can
be married? Politicians and celebrities have sometimes been married countless
times. Is it because it's between a man and a woman that it is somehow
okay?
Seriously, it's a joke. It's so easy to get married and divorced that it really
isn't as sacred as people claim it is. So why not let gays get married? All it
really is is a label. A label that gays would probably take much more seriously
than many straight couples. If people actually took seriously this word
"marriage" then maybe they would appreciate how hard gays are fighting
just for that right.
And seriously, what kind of asshole do you have to be to say "this group
can be happy, but this group can't"? Gays aren't asking to live in your
home, they are asking to be legally recognized for being in love. Far as I can
see it, gays would probably be better at being married than straight people.
People want to throw around this thought that it is morally wrong and that goes
against God. If you're that type, than your a closeminded, hateful person.

All this bantering around has set me thinking:
What if gay marriages are the ones universally sanctioned , instead of straight marriages?
