I like music because of the sound - for the most part. Next would be the lyrics.
Those two are what I look for. The sound and lyrics would also have to sound
well together, of course.
Yes, especially considering that I barely know the names of most of the people
who's music I like (not saying that's a good thing), much less what they look
like or their personal histories. If I hear a song I like, then I like it, and
that's about all there is to it.
I love Muse because they are insanely talented. You will find no other band more
original. Matthew Bellamy has a fabulous voice, is a skillful lyricist and knows
how to work a piano.
pretty much. i listen to the instruments before i listen to the lyrics. if
anything, i'm more interested in the guitar, bass, and drums than the whole
song.
I could care less about the lyrics, as I listen to instrumentals more often than
anything else (I play trumpet in concert bands, leaving me rather biased). All
that matters to me is the sound. The sounds and rhythms have to blend in a way
that I find pleasing for me to continue listening to something. For example,
everyone and their mother listens to rap (or so it seems), but rap is a genre
that I absolutely cannot stand. To my ears, it doesn't sound good. The same can
be said for metal, most pop artists, and a good majority of modern rock bands.
That doesn't mean I only listen to music from the Classical, Baroque, and
Renaissance eras, because I don't.
I think looks are the icing on the cake. It's not important to me that a singer
or the members of a band look good, so long as the music they make is pleasing
to the ear. For God's sakes, look at the Rolling Stones! They're the ugliest
bunch of old farts out there, but people like them just because their music is
good.
Quote by XavierGrIf you want to listen
to music, then you should close your eyes and listen to it. No other sense
(other than hearing) should modify your opinion about what you listen
to.
If you choose the music you listen to with your eyes, ehm then yes, music lost
its meaning. Then it is becomes something else, call it acting, show performance
etc.
Unfortunately that's why today's music is completely crap (at least in
majority). Many people watch instead of listening. (also the commercialization
from big labels made it even worse)
In my case I stretch it even more. I completely differentiate music from poetry
(lyrics) so I tend to listen mostly instrumental/orchestral music. I don't like
poetry so much, so I stick to my most beloved art.
Quote by ASH-HikariFor me, I like a
song because of the music, the lyrics, and the meaning. The people who sing it
have never affected which songs I like or don't like. I think if you like a song
because the of the band's looks or their history, then it's not really the music
you like/dislike, it's the band.
I have to agree with Ash-hikari in here..
I listen to the song also because of it's meaning and what's it's telling
you..if you listen to the song you like the most carefully..you can catch a
meaning that is somehow written for you..
that is why I listen to songs..and not because of the sound..it's because of
there meanings..
most of my favourite songs got nice background music~ usually, i listened to the instrumental version after that.
yeah i like the music because of it sounds

i think so. the sound of music is kind of different with other sounds

Sometimes I just listen to a song because I like the sound. But most of the time its because of the lyrics 'n stuff. lol

I love all kinds of music . I don't know why, but the way the band members look nor the copied version seems to have an effect on my liking.
