Linkin Park is the conglomeration of rap and (nearly) heavy metal with an
occasional solid helping of emo. In my eyes (and, more importantly, ears), they
certainly do not rule.
okay, lemme get this straight. Boy bands are boys that only sings and doesn't
use any musical instrument. Except maybe a piano and flute or something.
Backstreet boys they are boybands while bands are usually a group with lead
singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer like Click 5. And rock bands are are usually
categorized for the song picks in their album. Basically, bands are categorized
again for their song picks in the album
Boy bands are composed of boys, none of whom play an instrument although their
songs almost always have music on the tacks [the musicians are apparently not
part of the band as they are not named as such, and can be ether male or female.
They are also rarely seen at any so-called live performances {read mime
events}]. Groups containing members who actually play their own instruments are
generally referred to as bands whether or not all the members are male. Bands
are categorised as being of certain types [rock, metal, or pop for example] by
what kind of music they usually play, meaning that Judas Priest [one of the
early heavy metal bands could release an album consisting almost entirely of
ballads but they would still be a heavy metal band unless all their future
releases and all their live performances consisted of ballads. Therefore you are
essentially correct in your post, but it is the type of music they usually play,
rather than the songs on an individual album, that determines a bands
categorisation.
I remember in sixth grade my class was handed out papers asking questions about
us- what are our favorite bands? Favorite food? One of the boys wrote down
"Backstreet Boys" under his favorite bands. At one point I guess he
told one of his classmates because I swear the whole male population of that
class found out quickly and turned toward him in disgust and gave him a lot of
crap for liking "girl music." He quickly tried to defend himself
saying "Oh I don't listen to much music, I didn't know who else to list,
this is a band my sister listens to, blah blah.." poor guy.
There's never been a boyband that I've liked. I just don't enjoy the music,
singing in unison, or dancing. I usually like bands that actually play
instruments lol, and I can't think of any groups classified "boybands"
that have.
I don't hate boy bands. I like old Backstreet Boys and a couple of Nsync songs.
It's just that some boy bands are stupid, like they're trying to copy the older
bands and not be themselves.
At the time they were popular it is hard to say- I was a fan because it was
'hip' as you whippershnappers say. but looking back on it, the music sucked and
I have questions concerning their orientation with each other (take that where
you want to).
Then- maybe.
Now- with a blinding passionate hatred
I detest boy bands and I'm a girl...hell even when I was a teenager and boy
bands where hot, I still hated them. Boy bands are manufactured by record
industry executives because teenagers are their target audience and will buy
into their crap if it has been conjured correctly. Why do you think muisc
changes so much? Because their target consumer morphs from year to year. If they
didnt we'd still be listening to crap from the birth of the music industry
itself. The only reason Justin Timberlake's now popular is because he's
(shockingly) actually a person with talent. By the genius of producer Timbaland
he had (again shockingly) managed to seperate himself from the boy band genre to
re-invent himself into an artist from merely a marketing strategy. His new found
success relies now solely on the extent of his own abilities and not hormoned
teenagers, but as always hormoned teenagers will have something to do with
everything.
Boy bands are still in existances. As the favored whatnots (trends, music,
entertainment, hobbies, ideas...you get the picture) within target audiences
have changed, so has the idea that is the 'boy band'. Since the evolution of
trend has progressed, 'boy bands' have become most unrecongnizable from what we
think of when we hear the word. Panic at the Disco...nuff said. Boy band. Its
not the music, its the concept. Sell muisc with the use of current trend. A
metrosexual man (he who is one with fashion) will always have the upper hand in
the industry (especially if he's hot)....a group of them following the current
music trend...now thats a boy band.
There's a reason I aced marketing.
i definitely hate 'em with a passion. i'd shoot 'em all if i could. but there
are some boys out there who do... they need to kill themselves or i'll do it for
them. hahaha
Boy bands need to die!
no way.. i think they are ok... i like the band w-inds actually... they arent that bad
Linkin PARK... RULE.... ... aren t they also boy band?
Umm, they are a band of boys. But not a boyband. Those are two different things.

lol
bashing ftw :P
LP FTW! lol I'm a guy, and I'm totally fine with boybands. Some songs actually are nice, but maybe it all depends on preference..
