God I always thought was male. Heavenly Father and King of Kings. All these imply the male gender.

I say neither female nor male. From what I've read in this forum some people feels that God will take whatever form you hope for lol.

God is genderless.
The only reason He is referred to as male *in my opinion which counts for not* is because at the time when He was becoming known and through the times the bible was being written, women were thought of as nothing more then baby making machines, only good for producing sons.
People wouldn't worship a female God.
So He talked to them and showed them His power in a form they would listen to.

I kinda think God probably exceeds those bounds but it is neat and sometimes very amusing to watch people try to attach one gender or another to Him (like I just did).

I think it would be really funny if I made it to heaven only to find God in the form of a talking platypus cause he was having fun with the disclaimers from "Dogma".

God is in actuality probably genderless, as are the angels and other spiritual beings that reside in Heaven (as implied in the Bible). As God isn't human, He (yes, I used He for lack of a better reference or pronoun) can't be judged through humanistic attributes such as race and gender.

I'm thinking He simply referred to Himself as a He throughout the Bible to simplify matters, as well as symbolically represent Himself as the King of Heaven and the Holy Father. We think of the father as being the central support beam of the family,as well as the one in charge of discipline and supporting the family (traditionally speaking). Of course, that ties into the belief some people hold that the Bible was written by its authors in such a way so as to relegate females into a lower societal position, but that's an entirely different argument.

At any rate, I believe God is genderless in the sense that we're able to understand it.

And what the heck does "Neuter" mean? Do you mean neutered, or neutral, or something else?

Ehh, I'd say god is an it, no gender. :P Then if everyone is looking at the bible's point of view, then many would say its a he.

Also, not being human doesn't mean they don't have genders, obvious examples, animals, even some plants, such as avocados have gender because they don't asexually reproduce.

Lol, doesn't that depend on which God? But assuming you're talking about the classic Judeo-Christian figure, I'm going with male. Sure, people's perceptions have changed these days, but at the time the Bible was being read as something that pretty much absolutely everyone ascribed to, then I have no doubt he was thought of, and meant to be thought of, as male.

Whenever people refer to God, they say stuff like "He," "Him," and "His," always with a capitalized (upper-case) "h" to show respect. The traditional view, which I follow, sees God as male. Now how people believe that God is female or asexual is beyond me, because I don't see how someone could say "Heavenly Father" in reference to an asexual being or a female.

Now if someone in this forum happens to be polytheistic, then I'll understand if one of their gods is in fact a goddess and therefore female. The Judeo-Christian God is male.

Well, the reason why God was referred to as a "HE" in the Bible was because of the thought that men were superior to women. So as to follow comon belief, they followed through with "he". As a supernatural being he transcends the concept of gender and therefore maybe both or none.

And one more thing, though the angels were spirits, the Seraphims had gender based characteristics as described in the Apocrypha books.

well can't remember much cause i'm not even catholic or christian or w/e... but from what i remember from classics..... uhhhhhhhhh... its a he cause of how adam was created in the likeness of himself ( the way he looks ) that doesn't mean it is a he... it just means it looks like a he... unsure if i should even be saying it cause hes omnipotent... don't know how to signify that lol

well, God is formless, but manifest in every of our heart, existing in those who believe. otherwise, why is it this phrase "thy kingdom come!" existing? when people believe God, there forms the 'kingdom'

but personally, i would prefer goddess, the heart of the land we live- Mother Nature

?Why not? God has a bang up sense of humor. I mean take the fact that we are all stuck here together on this rock called Earth in the middle of an "inifinte universe". Talk about being up a creek and having to make your own paddle.
People always get so serious when jokes about religion come up. Its a joke people. Get over your own self-importance and laugh d#$%-it. If people were able to do that more the world situation would be a d#$% sight better than it is today.

Thats the problem people associate their own traits with God, like being able to laugh at yourself. It works the other way around. God created us we did not create God. Therefore everything we have, he has, including a sense of humor and the ability to laugh at himself.

BTW I am male and I have what I consider to be an excellent sense of humor and I have the ability to laugh at myself. If anyone else has a problem with that well thats their problem and not mine
