I have the same problem :(

i've been checking on some of these... reached no conclusion... but the problem resides in the initial uploading - the original image ~somehow~ gets a random number of extra, altered, or lost chunks in file - so it has jpeg errors, so then all the 3 downsized versions are made entirely black

update: a connection-related problem is likely ruled out, because two consecutive uploads (just made, not by me) of the same image produced the same error (the files are bit-identical!) (it's about scans 341096 and 341097)

Same problem with my wallpaper : Chaotic World by HydeExile

It can be downloaded just fine but as the user above said all the 3 downsized versions are made entirely black.

that was a hard one :D - it isn't exactly "just fine": the 8x8 pixel block in the bottom-left corner is messed up - so here's your jpeg error !
however, i can't figure out what's causing these errors - so many in the last few days - i saw such "black" thumbnails before, every now and then, but i always thought they were user mishaps, and they were only 2-3 at a time. but this time they're more like 10-20, and from different users

is someone gonna fix this soon?I really want to upload my wall, but I always get black thumbnail and some errors on the wall itself....
Sorry if I'm being annoying...

is it still got the same problem?
Now i am waiting for good news before upload scan again...... X-O

update: i've compared (at byte-level) scans 341160 (quarantined now) and 341181, both uploaded by the same user (nosyws) - they are the same scan: 341160 got transferred with errors, while 341181 got transferred correctly and is now perfectly viewable
(well, some newer submissions got again messed up, so it ain't over yet)
so, i've compared the two files, one perfect and the other with errors, and found that the only differences between them are 24 bits that got reset (switched from 1 to 0), in 19 bytes distributed with no apparent pattern throughout the file (filesize: 1384438 bytes); the bits that got reset are located in byte positions: 2 (2 of them), 3 (16 of them), or 4 (6 of them) [position=0:7]
my best guess right now is that ~sometimes~ (not always, and depending on something yet unknown to me), ~some~ bits in the file are reset by an error, that is likely residing in some software/hardware used in MT to receive/check/store uploaded files, where ~sometimes~ error checking fails (...because i believe TCP still is error-free)
moreover, as i've seen the same file getting exactly the same errors two times (341096 and 341097, see post above), it must be a software glitch

I'm having the same problem here.
We'll just have to wait for it to be fixed... Just wait patiently, usually bugs on MT don't last for long.
I'll just try again tomorrow.
I see that works are still submitted... it's quite strange.

Apparently I'm also infected by this bug. -_-
This has been going on for almost a week and yet to have no reply from a mod.
Guess I have to wait a little longer.

Yeah, for some reason MT is corrupting some jpg files, though for some others it's working fine =\ ... hopefully sheq will fix it soon. In the mean time, if a black thumbnail comes up, upload it somewhere else like imageshack and put a link to it in the description, then I can try to update the file for you (since it seems to work for me =S)

I had same problem can Admin remove all images of mine that are black? I would do this if I knew how.

As per Maplerose's suggestion I tried imageshack and found my image also corrupted.
I tried uploading several files all had the same problem.
I turned off the firewall and then it worked, also was able to upload here.
I am running Vista ultimate (no service packs) Firefox 2.0.0.14 and using windows firewall.
Maybe this will help some others out.

cndarkside, please tell us what firewall do you use - is it the nvidia network manager ?
this one is the worst i could find; i wonder if all those uploading "blacks" have it installed - and if so, then it may be their firewall's fault, not MT's

I am using windows firewall behind an NAT enabled router.
