How good are you guys at recognizing voice actors from an anime? Is it easy to
pick apart Japanese seiyuu who speak a completely different language from you,
or have you developed an ear for instantly knowing who is voicing a particular
character?
I would like to say that Yukari Tamura has a pretty obvious voicing for me...
everytime she plays a cute character, she gives herself away in a heartbeat.
The same goes for Yuki Matsuoka, who when everytime she speaks, she sounds like
Osaka from Azumanga Daioh.
yeah i can always pick out voices, but i don't always know the seiyuu's name,
usually i compare to another character. i also do this for english dubs, yes i
watch both english and japanese.
I'm very good at vocal recognition. Even if I don't know the seiyuu's name, I
can always recognize their voice and know what other characters they have voiced
in other shows. So basically, I'll watch a show (in Japanese), hear a voice and
think "hey, that sounds just like X from show Y", and sure enough,
it's the same seiyuu. And it's not just the BIG name seiyuu who seem to be in
every show that I recognize, I just have a good ear and recognize a voice I've
heard before, no matter the language or how obscure they may be.
I think I recognize quite a lot of seiyuus I've heard before. Not necessarily if
they have a lot of roles, but especially when their voice is somehow
distinctive. That's why I can always tell when it's Akira Ishida speaking, Romi
Paku or Mamiko Noto (I absolutely hate the characters she's done and her faint
voice, but I can't help noticing it anytime )
Quote by Joancagallihaha i can always
recognise Akira Ishida, Soichiro Hoshi, Jun Fukuyama, Rie Kugimiya and recently
Mamoru Miyano
I can also recognise Jun Fukuyama and Mamoru
Miyano, lol. And I think it's Code Geass+xxxHOLiC and Death Note's fault
I usually can't say the name, since I have really bad memory for those, but I
can recognize the guy or girl for the most notable characters they voiced
(usually).
I usually will recognize seiyuus with more distinctive voices. Eg. Miki
Shin'ichirou, Fukuyama Jun, Hoshi Souichiro, Seki Tomokazu, Paku Romi, Miyata
Kouki, Ishida Akira, Minagawa Junko, Suwabe Jun'ichi
(wow.. most are guys)
The one that surprised me the most.. was Hoshi's role as one of the main
characters in Scryed. Couldn't recognize him at all since he's mainly shouting
all the while.. ._.;
