page 1 of 10

The time of war is over.

The Grand Beasts which have ravaged and troubled the land have been silenced, and the world that remained began to rebuild. As if to ignore the past, civilization and religion have formed around the points where the Beasts were set in stone, the monuments in their place serving to form a makeshift balance amongst the world and the kingdoms that have risen. Villages flourish, soon becoming towns and vast cities, and the population experiences a boom into the light.

And yet all is not well. For from beyond the stars, the nightmare came...

An unknown existence devoid of life. It fell from the heavens, and consumes all where it appears, leaving only a dark spherical void where no life exists. Unable to track the movements of this lifeless apparition, the kingdoms shift the blame to one another. Each consumed by the fear of invasion and conquest, the religious guilds rally their respected nations to arms for the sake of prosperity and national defense.

The time of war has returned. Nations will rise and fall. Lives will be lost in the name of what they believe to be truth and justice. ....and the nightmare will continue to spread.

==============================

Locations:

Myvern: A vast empire built around sheer might and raw power. From within the volcanic bowls of Mount Cyol, a group worships Magmanis, the beast of the land. Using pyramid like architecture, they are the most vast of the great kingdoms, its knights and gladiators defending their lands with suits of armor and weapons of fortified steel.

Graful: Built on the shores of the western archipelago, this great city is the leader of trade, having mastering sea travel and exploration at an early rate. Having crafted the aqueducts that help flourish even the nations on the opposite side of the map, some however note that the grand sailors and harpooners attribute their success to the blessing of Kelios, the guardian of the sea.

Erom: Few have ever laid eyes upon this location, but it's existence is spoken in hushed whispers. A massive mountain towering over a narrow island, its height piercing the clouds above. At its peak lies a small temple of monks, regarded for their skill in unarmed combat. Through rigorous training, the seers within these halls under the guidance of Rath, the serpentine guardian of the skies, and watch as the events unfurl in the uncivilized world beneath their feet.

Dyssad: Not all the beasts in the world are evil. Within the eastern forests, several have gathered together en mass. Under the divine protection of Lyaviario, spirit of the woods, they have taught themselves to use the surrounding environments to approach and surround their target without notice. Their ultimate quest is to create a haven for all races to escape the poison of the outside world.

Ruins of Aera: A monument devoted to Phobos, he who commands the void known as Space. From within large, stair-esque pyramids built to withstand the elements, the reclusive people here had monopolized the race towards the heavens, using their experiments to create technologies that the world had scarcely known, until...

Centaria: An ancient capital found deep within the riddled southern deserts. The smallest of the known kingdoms, yet one who is spoken in sheer awe. It is said that the Lords of this nation have the power to command the flow of time, a parting gift from Chrux, the hound of ages. Possessing technology that rivals even that of Aera, the sages here seek a solitary path, sealing themselves away from the war that threatens to consume their nation, and ultimately tear it apart.

Zu: A barren wasteland, noted for a large canyon forming a massive ring around an ancient ruin. Far beneath the ruins lies a forbidden place, the Crucible of Chaos, where long ago a tribe of warriors worshiped the ancient deity who quelled the beasts who plagued the land. Now all that remains is a solitary monument depicting the meditative monster, and a lone figure in constant vigil.

((preliminary, for the time being. want to add your own, then let me know...))

=====================================

The timeline is an alternate world, a mix of varying time periods and technologies. Nations devoted to a particular element or terrain are rising to war against one another. There will be those devoted to seeing through the lies towards the truth of the conflict, while others will obsess over the quickest way to dispose their enemy.

You alone shall choose your alignment to the cause around you, and be prepared to face those who might be in opposition.

((Sounds like fun, hope we start soon. :D ))

((I apologize for the time lapse. To be honest, I was waiting to see if more people would join in. Posting the opening, then we can get started...))

Chapter 1: The Night of the Storm

It began the night of the grand meteor shower. The calm of the night sky completely shattered by a shower of heavenly light streaking across the nations of the world. Stars glimmering across the darkness illuminating the land below with a show of flashes and glows of ethereal origin. Those who witnessed this dazzling display were struck in awe, eyes transfixed upon the sparks shooting through the sky. Only less than a handful would realize that this would be the last moment of peace between the great nations of the world...

By dawn's early light, the great metropolis of Aera was no more. A smoldering ruins laid waist by a cataclysm yet to be known. The great city that once raised up towards to the heavens, now only the most primitive structures remain of its former glory. The remaining nations would then argue and debate over the potential cause of this disaster, oblivious to the large spherical depressions forming what seemed to be a trail leading towards the ocean.

In fear of the cataclysm repeating itself, the militaristic nation of Myvern is the first to raise the flag of the accuser, declaring this as an attack on the sanctity of the world. Rearing their troops for battle, Myvern prepares for the potential conflict, ready to do whatever it takes to silence the danger... ...In spite of the concern from the remaining lands, who seem to see Myvern's potential eagerness for war and conflict.

Zinfandel: Where is everyone are they all lazy once again?

*Crucible of Chaos*

Down beneath the depths of the world lies a maze of steel and industry long since abandoned. Deep crevasses built in a time where the science of industry and the magic of nature coexisted in peace and tranquility. From within these mazes of pipes and tubes lies a small shrine, within lies a statue depicting a gargantuan horned beast surrounded by four swords embedded into the stone ground. Before the statue, a cloaked individual rests in meditative thought.

The stranger sits, mimicking the pose of the ancient deity, as thoughts begin to gather. Within the field of the mind, the blades begin to spin, slowly at first but quickly gathering speed. Each blade begins to crackle and spill forth the base elements: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air... the elements scattering across the prism of the mind as the deity twitches with life, hands still held in meditative pose. Suddenly, with a quick thrust, the deity throws its palm forward, commanding the blades to a halt. With one handle in its grasp, it draws the sword from its place in the mantle.

Dark embers spill from the edge of the blade, dripping forth on the ground as it points its weapon forward towards the horizon. In the distance, a reptilian beast stands hunched, the silhouette of its body entombed within rock and stone.

Back in reality, the figure raises her head towards the statue, her vision at its end.

?: "...The nation to the west. ...There is where the flames shall flow..."

In what seems to be a sudden flash, the figure stands up and takes flight from the Crucible, heading to the outside world miles above.

=====================================

*Erom, Inner chamber of Rath Shrine*

The seers gather together before a reflection pool, allowing them to peer into the world below.

Seer: "The visions..."
Visionaire: "...The balance is shifting. The beasts are awakening..."

Zinfandel: What about me Seer?

From beneath the waves, it moves... ...silently but surely. The waters do little to impede its cruise, the mammoth amalgamation sailing like a bullet. All around, the roars of beasts fill the air, driving its senses to the brink of mania, a madness that breaks the silence of its mind. Gazing through some sort of lens-like filter, it gazes towards the blank horizon of the ocean, pursuing the closest roar to its location.

=========================
*Erom*

The seer turns towards the woman inquiring his attention.

Seer: "Zinfandel, as you can see in the reflection pool the world is on the verge of turmoil. Myvern has declared a cold war upon the remaining nations. The beasts of Aera and Centara have gone silent, and those who remain have begun to stir and wake in their absence. The balance has shifted and if it isn't restored soon, who knows what could happen..."

Zinfandel: I see but did you see me living here with all of you guys, Seer? Can you tell me why I'm here?

Ruins of Aera
------

Slowly but surely a figure emerges from the devistation. Unsure of itself, it attempts to reaugment its mollecular structure to its original form. After a few attempts the mass is satisfied with its readjustments and climbs onto a small outcropping. The entity is discouraged with what it finds; the city in ruins and its people decimated. After a few moments of calculating and collecting its thoughts, the being sets off by following the massive spherical depressions to the other side of the ruin city.

Zinfandel: Well Seer do you have the answer?

Seer: "To be honest, that is why we are all here, to find out why and what exactly brought us to this place. We are a unique sect of watchers who dare not set foot outside the walls of this sacred shrine. Alas, we have suspected something different about you, child. We found you outside our shrine one day, and took you in as one of our own..."

*stops to think*

Seer: "Perhaps you are the one we need. The balance needs to be maintained out there, and we dare not defy 'its' will. I ask of you, young one, will you heed our call?"

Zinfandel: I accept to heed your call.

((Hey Gear! I'm back, and I was wondering if I could join your RP? Is it to late to join?))

Zinfandel: Did you hear me Seer?

((Welcome back, Ele. Long time no see. Formalities aside, casting is still open. Feel free to join whenever))

Seer: "Thank you, young one. You are about to undertake a monumental task. Be weary, for there are foes all around. Track the devastation and stop it before it can spread further and fan the flames of war..."

===============================

*Grai Forest, not too far from the hidden city of Dyssad*

With a stir, a young girl awakens under a cove beneath a mammoth tree, gnarled roots extending in and out of the soil around. Holding the side of her aching head with one hand, she tries to grasp her surroundings, everything in such a daze that she staggers as she crawls out from under the tree. Sweat pours from her skin, dripping down strawberry blond hair as she nervously crawls into the open, the stench of blood and gunpowder reaching her nose.

While crawling, she stumbles across something gooey and scaly, causing her to recoil slightly. Before her lies the still body of a large adult being, a fusion between human and insect. Ooze pours slightly from one arm as it lies motionless upon the soil. Rising to her feet, she starts to step back, turning to run before stumbling over another lump in the dirt, this one the riddled body of a large, wolf-like beast. Nearly screaming, she staggers back again, falling on her backside in nervousness.

Memories come pouring back into her mind, memories of a short while ago. Running through the woods... ...the den of wolves... ....the flight from death... ...and the large object knocking her into the cove.

The slow, gradual movement of the insectoid causes her calm to return, approaching the injured creature slowly yet curiously. It breaths in soft gasps, like a fish out of water. As the ooze continues to pour from its open wounds, the gravity of the situation hits her like a ton of bricks. Her hands funneling her lips, she utters a shrill whistle into the air, commanding the animals of the forest to come to her.

Girl: "Do not worry, my curious friend. I shall get you help..."

Zinfandel: What you mean Seer?

*Erom*

Seer: "Come hither, young one..."

With a slow hand, the seer guides Zinfandel towards the edge of the reflection pool. From below, the waters slowly ripple as the seer narrates the images appearing beneath the waves.

Seer: "...The world is in turmoil. Because of this anomaly that is spreading across the land, the nations are preparing for war. In particular, the kingdom of Myvern is the most dead set towards battle, as if blinded by some unknown means. Your task is to find the cause of this disturbance, and quell it before war takes over all of the land..."

He pauses for a moment, reaching for his forehead in slight pain as a new set of images enters his mind. Images of several figures pointed at random points on the map.

Seer: "...But do no fret yet, young one. A new vision has entered my sight. Visions of others on the same quest. Should you choose, you may seek out these individuals and attempt to enlist their aid. Know that you will not be alone."

All right then Seer I will seek out these individuals ask them for their aid, but just to let you know I have postcognition I can see into the past with my own hands hence the gloves.

*Erom*

Seer: "Use whatever skills you deem necessary for this task. May the Great Lord Rath shield you and protect you."

A blur... ...a dark blur fills the mind.

From within the creature's mind, it sees its brethren, all working harmoniously towards their cause. Creatures of an insectoid appearance each working on various terminals of a technologically advanced environment. The area around is utter silence as the creature watches its comrades in their duties.

...a transitive blur changes the view from a large chamber to a narrow corridor, lights blaring in red sirens as its brethren engaged in furious combat. It watches as they fight in panic, opening fire towards a black mass on the distance. Vision beginning to blur, the creature watches as one is swallowed by the mass, a single elongated pincer extending outward in desperation before being consumed by the form.

==============================

*Dyssad*

In a state of shock, the insectoid awakens. A wave of pain rushing through its senses as it attempts to sit up, forcing the cobalt creature back against the wall. Its vision blurring, it can barely make out the makeshift bandages around the scales of its carapace. Sitting up with a soft sweat oozing from its hide, it gazes around to take in its surroundings, seeing only a young girl sitting by his side.

The girl opens her mouth to speak, talking in a language alien to the creature. Unable to understand, it studies her with bright, yellow eyes, watching her movements carefully. A sudden point in a particular direction sends its gaze towards a large column of black smoke rising into the sky.

In a state of panic, it leaps from the bed, leaving the girl behind as it races in the direction of the rising plume.

Ruins of Aera
------

Why the great Phobos , Lord of the Void would allow such a calamity to befall his children... the creature could not fathom. Having finished its scans and storage of the data from the devastation, GodStruct heads towards the ocean... hoping it can descover more answers than questions as it makes its journey.

Zinfandel: I need to gather the individuals so I won't be alone.

Zinfandel set off to start her journey unaware that things are hunting her as well.
