(seems strange - Im strange - seems an idiotic choice - its great and how u know
its just a little difference between a genious and a fool- seems thats the most
stupid thing ever said - no its not!)
Ratkin - Sounds more like you love all of Tarantino's films. Not that I don't
or anything; I like most of 'em. The earlier ones are a little more to my
tastes.
Celessa - LOL Yeah, Spaceballs is one of my favorites and I have it on DVD,
VHS, and a .avi version so I can watch it whenever I want. I remember one time
at my friends birthday we were watching it and we rewinded the part with Dark
Helmet's helmet getting smashed in the doorway 14 times.
Kirazu - I could have sworn Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children wasn't released
yet...not even in Japan. Am I wrong?
Ninza - Jurassic Park was great. The book was better, but the movie was still
great. The first time was great because I was sitting next to my first
girlfriend, but the second time was great, too.
BlackConvoy - Man, I really need to buck up on my classics... I'd better go
rent The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly today... I feel embarrassed. *Also...
Thank you so much for not putting, "Aliens 2" I rea~lly f___ing hate
when people say that.
As for the Trilogy of the Ring, for some reason, I just can't bring myself to
like the new ones. The books are just too much to stuff into three movies.
Especially the first one, you don't develop a raport with the characters. When
Boromir dies, its doesn't feel important. Maybe a long-running television
series or mini-movies like HBO format or something would work better. Also, for
some reason, I have really fond memories of the old animated movies. That
minstrel singing and Frodo sitting at the table with his hand holding his pipe
is stuck in my head.... Its wierd. But, all that aside, they are worth seeing
at least once. Especially if you're too lazy to read the books.
Keep 'em coming! Let's hear other people's favorites! So far, it seems an
overwhelming amount enjoy Pulp Fiction! Not surprising... but people also like
Wasabi, The Professional, and Dark City!
Recommend some good movies to watch over the winter break! Voice your opinion
no matter how wierd you may think other people may view it!
Something more recent and not mainstream (at least in the United States) would
be Infernal Affairs I and II (there's a III, but it's not as good). It's a cop
thriller about an undercover cop and a gangster mole in the HK police force
hunting for each other. Absolutely brilliant.
The Royal Tenenbaums? I never went to see it. Is it really that good?
Well, that Infernal Affairs sounds a little familiar. I'd like to see it if
they have it at my local rental store.
::sigh:: The purpose of this thread was, and still is, to get some feedback so
that I could find out about some interesting films to watch over the break.
Moreover, I didn't just type, "What's your fav movie? Mine's
Brother," I actually tried to explain why I was starting a new post and set
a nice little example by having both the title of the movie and why its a favorite. And please excuse me for
not noticing that thread; the last post made was 20 weeks and 4 days ago. But,
yeah, I understand that duplicate posting is annoying...I'm the top mod in my
own business' forums.
Yeah, i see a difference in the threads also. this one is more convo
friendly.
ichi THE killer! miike...i mean, come on. this is the film that got me into both
miike, and tadanobu asano. asano has been in alot of great films, including two
takeshi kitano films, taboo, and the new zatoichi.
as for miike films, i still recomend The Happiness of the Katakuris. not very
similar to 'ichi the killer' but a very good movie. i think i would recomend
seeing this first, if you could only pick up 1.
on a miike note, i watched his 'city of lost souls' last night, much more
similar to ichi. i liked it, very stylized. but it doesnt make the cut for my
fav list.
Hard to think? Is that a movie?? Or are you just posting in an attempt to
boost your member level? At any rate, if you bother to check back, please edit
your post and put in a movie or perhaps a more elaborate comment. Like if you
just put what or why its hard to think?
I'm not going to read through everyones post, so if there are some repeats
sorry.
Underappretiated movies you can get at blockbuster (At least at my
blockbuster)
Boondock Saints: This movie is a halarious action film. how they play out the
action sceanes is really impressive, and it has such great actors as Willim
Defoe. Top Reccomendation.
Amelie: A French film about an eccentric girl played by the lovely Audrey
Tautou. You will fall in love with thisgirl, you will not be able to help
it.
Zatoichi - The Blind Swordsman: One of Beat Takashi's newer works, it's an
excellent tale about how a blind massuese (who is really a swordsman) comes into
a town and stirs things up.
Stark Raving Mad: A movie that most people would easily pass up since it stars
Seann William Scott (Stiffler). But it is a really well done caper flick with
lots of comedy.
Who is Cletis Tout?: Another caper flick that most people would pass over. I
have no idea why this one went straight to video it's really very good with a
cast of known actors
The Big Empty: Final one, this one is hard to explain, it's about a struggling
actor who gets hired to take a briefcase into this little town full of strange
people. It's a good film, although the ending was a little weak (personal
opinion).
Well go out and rent those, see what you think... oh, and if you happen to see
Six-String Samurai I would definatly suggest that.
Hmm... I love Fantasy and action movies
1.The Lord of The Rings (All of three episodes) : Yeah, This the Great!
2.The Matrix (All too) : More things about this epic that made me INSANE.
3.The Last Samurai : Not just like history but this story has many
impressions.
4.Hero (Chinese film, Performed by Jet Li) : This look like Philosophy and nice
mood.
Loucorn, great list. i'm not sure if i have seen the big empty..i'l look into
it, and pick it up if i havnt , but the rest of the list was top notch.
cromsblood, if you didnt pick up boondock saints yet, you really should, if i
could only recomend 1 american movie, i would first make sure you've seen fight
club, then recomend the boondock saints!
not sure why, but i just recalled a movie i'm rather fond of, 'the way of the
gun'. great cast, plenty of quotable lines.
phrozenkrew: You suggested the one movie "Way of the Gun" that I had
thought about suggesting but decided not to because I wanted to go with
non-mainstream titles and "Way Of The Gun" was released in the
theaters. It was a really great movie and I have it on DVD. Definately pick this
movie up if you haven't watched it.
Office Space - A great comedy about the drudgery of a deskjob
Leon: The Professional - A great movie about an assassin and an apprentice. Has
the only acction scenes where the protagonist pwns the opposition in a
believable way, that I've seen so far.
Fight Club - I'm watching this one over and over again just to see if I missed
anything last time around.
Those are my suggestions to anyone who can handle violence and some suggestive
material.
The Matrix: (ALL OF them) They are layered with so much truths etc its not even
funny, you can take alot from them
The Crow: Something about the eerie vibe and overall mood of the film made me
love it
Spiderman 2: What can i say im a comic book fan.
Memento
Fight Club
Snatch
LOTR Trilogy
Fav movie:
(seems strange - Im strange - seems an idiotic choice - its great and how u know its just a little difference between a genious and a fool- seems thats the most stupid thing ever said - no its not!)
Well, its my fav:
.......Jurassic Park..........
Shaun of the dead
Pulp fiction
The Big Money hustlers
-knives-
James bond. is
the best.
My Sassy Girl, wat better than the film that made me into a hardcore Korean movie addict
Ratkin - Sounds more like you love all of Tarantino's films. Not that I don't or anything; I like most of 'em. The earlier ones are a little more to my tastes.

The first three Star Wars movies (Eps 4,5,6). I'm a Star Wars nerd
1. I, Robot
2. Mortal Kombat
3. Back to the Future
4. Star Wars (All)
5. Pearl Harbor
Something more recent and not mainstream (at least in the United States) would be Infernal Affairs I and II (there's a III, but it's not as good). It's a cop thriller about an undercover cop and a gangster mole in the HK police force hunting for each other. Absolutely brilliant.
