Hey guys which one you liked better and why? Please do tell!!!
To be honest I loved Doom 3 better. IMHO the game was completely finished
product - great story line, increadible suspense, almost no bugs - installs
& plays like a charm. I won't even comment on graphis for both games are
visually stunning!
HL2 unlike HL1 was too short, to shallow a plot... it started from nothing and
ended just the same.
I don't like First person shooters. But Doom3 is just like Half Life one (come
on people, guy enters lab... guy realises some experiment went wrong... monster
from other dimension take over the lab, then you gotta get your ass out of
there, trying to save a few guys who will eventually die even with your help.)
Besides Doom 3 sucks because I can't play it in my Athlon XP 2700, 512 Ram,
128Mb GPU (Geforce fx5500) If I take ONE think of the graphic quality, the game
just sucks, and that's a fact. If not, the game doesn't play "fluidly"
and plays choppy, so, to me that's unenjoyable. I agree that the game scared the
ass of me... and not having a system that can run it at a good speed doesn't
help a guy to like a game. Now the game is beatiful, the
Didn't play Half Life 2. But if it is as you say, it also sucks.
I think both have a great engine to make a Resident Evil Mod, that's
it.
Okay, this was kind of rude... don't get mad at me, it's just an opinion.
I personally prefer HL2 because well while Doom 3 was somewhat fun and gfx wise
is a lot better I believe that D3 was more of a tech demo for me than anything
else...sure it was scary and all...but most of the time the scares were caused
more by the sound themselves and a lot of the time you really expect the
monsters to leap at you out of nowhere...that and it just became walking and
gunning for me most of the time without much innovation (though I have to say
they did well what they attempted to do in setting a scary atmosphere and a
great remake of doom since it also somewhat plays like it e.e)
...with HL2 though it's much more cinematic and while as I said the gfx weren't
as good there just so much more variety with things you can do especially when
you consider how you can use the buggy and other things to keep the gameplay
fresh...that and you can't admit you didn't like the gravity gun e.e
Well first of all Doom 3 has really good graphics so does Half life 2 (I dont
think my comp can handle it though X_X)
If you want to see a scary game play Doom 3
If you want to shoot and play first person play Half life 2
HL 2 could have been better of course but I think doom3 doesnt stand a chance
against it. The graphics were top-notch but that's about it, and hl is not ugly
either ^^.
The scary side comes from over scripting which becomes boring after few play
hours. You hear a sound...you fire with your shotgun behind you...done. There
were some interesting parts, especially the beginning but most time no real
challenge or innovation. At least you see a bit more AI in HL 2 and the physics
allow some fun in the gameplay, so not all the fights are the same. So if you
want to play the game more than once, I recommand half-life ( length is average
for both, though you can finish them quite fast).
Doom3 hasn't a scenario in my opinion so I won't compare that .
The cinematic storyline with the use of almost realistic facial expressions is a
great point for hl2.
But then I have to agree, the two games are of great quality but Doom3 seems a
lot more "finished" , while installing itself is a pain in hl2 ( for
non-steam users ). In the end it's a matter of tastes...
HL2. It actually has enemies that can think as opposed to just rushing at you.
Also, the physics engine is awesome. Doom 3 has better graphics, but HL uses a
more efficient engine and is less of a drain on video memory.
However, the plot of HL2 is a bit shoddy tbh. Wtf was up with the ending?? They
may as well just put in big letters at the end: Go Buy HL3.
No offense taken Hyas, everyone has the right of their own opinion. I agree with
HailStoRm about the end, it came too suddenly, and very little got explained.
Half of the game i spent chasing this then chasing that. True HL2 had many new
and innovative features which i liked very much /yes CTEon i liked the gravity
gun..."Go dog fetch something bigger..." hahah it as gonna throw the
whole thing at me!@_@
Andin the end it's really up to taste. Doom3 was an excellent sequel to a
classic old game, while HL2 took more time to come out than it should and you
can't all deny the fact that we were really starting ot get upset with all the
delays /of course this doesn't make the game worse but having waiitng for
something for a long time you have much higher expectations./
I liked both games, too bad HL2's in the poll lead right now but it's the
people's vote
Well you have to actually finish the game you know to be able to judge, at least
i think so. I can never judge a movie a game or a book before i finsih them
otherwise i might as well have missed the best part.
They are both great games, but my choice is Half Life 2. Doom started out as a
very fun game, it had its frights and times when it actually startled you. But
then it got repititive. Same techy looking environments, until you reached Hell,
then it's finally a change of scenery. Half Life 2 on the other hand is mind
blowing, in terms of graphics, gameplay and the stunning and large environments.
Doom 3 was an awesome game... before Half Life 2 was released.
I'd go with Half-Life 2 in a heartbeat. There's a lot more variety to HL2's
gameplay and the story is pretty compelling. Perhaps the only thing that gets me
annoyed about the game are the excessive loading times.
Half -Life 2 just didn't show anything but good graphics. That is all I will
remember it for...
As for Doom 3 I will remember it for the athmosphere, the graphics and the
really good design of levels and fun. Ahh and last BUT not least – THA
fear!!!!

yeah!!!!!i like doom 3 but my choice was HL2.....it's the game you do't wanna miss!!!!i mean is a masterpiece!!!!!!it rocks all thr way.........

I'll choose Doom 3 I'm awaiting the Xbox release since my PC can't handle the specs.

i haven't played very much Doom 3, but what i did play sucked compared to HL2
therefore, i choose HL2

i dont like DOOM.because i'm very tired when i plsy DOOM,so i like half life
