As many of you know, or atleast I hope you know, they are currently working on
the Live Action Evangelion movie. I was curious, for those that keep up with the
news or just simply love evangelion as much as the next person, how good of a
job do you think us evil Americans will do? I'm just hoping that Anno will have
some say in what goes on...
Hmm looks like there are many Neon Genesis fans on here or they just don't to
reply. But I heard a bit of this from one of the Newtype magazines. Also saw
some of the art of the movie. Though we all know it would look werid for someone
with light hair so they changed Rei's hair black. Also on the art pic they have
names on it but they are diff from the anime like for Rei it's Ray that makes
sense but for Askua is was something completely different can't remember it
right now. But what was the year they think they will relese it again and I hope
it would turn into something horrible.
Speaking of what TMC said, I heard somewhere that they were going to change some
of the characters' names to something else due to the fact the movie casters are
getting American actors (at least I think so). It'd be strange to be calling
someone like Haley Joel Osment, Shinji if he were chosen.
I do not foresee good things for this movie. They can't possibly leave the
storyline unedited. (killing angels? Yeah that'll be a box office hit) Plus
with the name changes, like Asuka become Kate Rose (ugh), I am severely doubting
that even the series' message and basic theme will survive the transition to
live action. If nothing else I think that this definately should have been
handled by a Japanese company.
well I guess as a fan you really would feel slightly ticked over the name
changes but I guess the overall impact wouldn't be much so let's talk more about
the idea more than anything then...to be honest I really don't wanna see this
movie...the premise and everything worked really well in the anime and while
it's great to see the series jump to new grounds I just don't see how many of
the things can be achieved in real life...I mean...with today's tech it's
possible but...the transition to real life action...that and giving the movie to
the americans to handle...I just hope thye know what they're doing and be
faithful to the fans
name changes just aint all the redesigned the evas themselves which aint too bad
but they gave them tounges and toes. dont get me wrong the new designs look
sweet just the whole tongue and toes. unfortnatly i hope it will be good but i
just knwo it will let me down, i have wacthed to many times"sigh".

anime =O. Asu and Rei.. I'm sure that they will be play by sux00red actress...

rings, so how bad could it be? ....nevermind. not gonna watch it unless
there's some official japanese staff on it.

actually going to be in the movie, lol. The people at WETA simply changed the
names on the art because apparently using their real names was too complicated
or something. The names of the characters will be decided by the Director/Script
Writer, neither have been chosen yet.
2. There are official Japanese staff working with this. Gainax will be there
approving what the americans do.
3. Yes, WETA Workshop is doing the graphics for NGE: Live Action, the people
that did the graphics for Lord of the Rings. Apparently many people over at WETA
are big Evangelion fans, so I'm pretty sure the film is in good hands. They are
very creative people.

I think a live action version is a good idea, but not produced by Americans FOR Americans.... I don't like the change in appearance, names, etc.
