I have a lot of books (20+) of fairytales that look like this, with all kinds of stories but mostly Oriental, Middle-Eastern and European themed. I would spend days reading them, they were absolutely fascinating. This would've been about between kindergarten and primary school.

Then, of course, I got into the Harry Potter craze. I remember being in 4th grade when the 4th one came out, and one of my classmates constantly bragged about his parents getting him the hardcover version (which was more expensive than the paperback). He'd leave the book on his desk all day and wouldn't let anyone even touch it :( Joke's on him, I got a hardback version in the end, too (after a looot of pleading).

If you can't handle me at my best, then you don't deserve me at my worst!

Harry Potter series and probably some Enid Blyton books as well :)
