Oh My Goddess TV, Genshiken, Hinotori, and
Phantom Acquired by Media Blasters (2005-02-20 10:57:59)
At their Katsucon panel today, Media Blasters announced that they hold the
rights to the Oh! My Goddess TV series, Genshiken, Hinotori, and a 3-part OVA
called Phantom. John Sirabella said that he believed that they also has the
rights for Kujibiki Unbalance (the show watched by the Genshiken characters),
but has to double check. A full panel report will follow later, which will also
include their live action acquisitions.
I'm rather disappointed in this, because I was really really expecting for
Geneon to license Ah! My Goddess TV.
This could also mean that my favorite seiyuu from the OVA, the Mini Goddesses,
and the Movie won't be appearing in the TV series.
I actually had big hopes that Bridget Hoffman will be voicing Belldandy again,
and also Wendee Lee and Sherry Lynn voicing Urd and Skuld,
respectively.
Also note this... Media Blasters is the company responsible for holding licenses
for many hentai anime titles, and most of their affiliated recording studios
aren't good as those from Bandai Ent. and Geneon. Therefore if the English
dubbing is only so-so, there's still the Goddess Family Club!!!
Well since AnimEigo did the OVA's not Genion we just might get the orriginal
Bell voice (Juliet Cesario) in the dub, but I doubt it. I've already seen the first six eps and have top
say that they have not only followed the orriginal manga but even got beyond it
in some cases! But they better not screw it up!
BTW Juliet Cwsario does work for the following: Bandai, AnimEigo, Media
Basters/ Anime Works and ADV Films. The possibilities that she might be back to
do Beldandy is looking better and better!
nooooo! WTH No!! i cant believe this!! I just finish watching Ep7 and now It's
License no!!! This is unforgivalbe!!! I hate this!!! DAMN IT!! '05 is a worst
year ever urge!!!

LOL. First you said that 2005 is the best year ever and now it's
the worst.
Yeah, it is somewhat disappointing for those who are so into A!MG TV, and would
like to watch all of it on fansub. But I'm sure there'll be fansubbers out there
who will continue fansubbing A!MG TV.

WHOA...that was fast..

Yea it is fast and i just finished watching ep.7 and i hope American Companies
regret licensing anime that is still airing in Japan rite now.
Wow, this is fast and unexpected. This kinda sucks, first Naruto and now Ah! My
Goddess... Hopefully AonE will continue subbing it like they do w/ Naruto....

Sorry about that MadMover, I forgot to comment on your post. So here it is.
Hm... yes, I do really hope that Juliet will come back to voice Belldandy again.
I think she does a better job than Bridget, because she has the more out of this
world, young happy voice, whereas Bridget (in the movie) had the mature, more
down to earth voice.
If she can come back then I will be very very surprised and certainly very happy
if she does!
I didn't really know that Juliet Cesario also worked with those
companies.

LOL, that's silly of you to say that. America companies regret licensing,
that'll be hilarious. xp

I think that'd be unlikely, personally.
Naruto is a large series, it'll take time until the US version "catches
up"; I see AonE subbing Naruto as Anime-Craze subbed InuYasha. Ah!
Megamisama is supposed to have just 26 eps. in its first season, it's likely the
main subs will drop it. But, then again, Anime-Yuki could go on by itself... I
guess it's better to just wait and see.
Quote by candy-chanyou can still find
subs when the anime is liscenced, I dont see why
everyone is horrified by this news...
It makes it a bit more
annoying to find the subs, I think.

Not mention it's pretty illegal to d/l anime after it's licensed

Not when you
live in Brazil (or Philippines, or Netherlands, or... well, you got it), and the
license is on US, I think.

In fact I know where to search. It's really just some persistency and the will
to delve deep into search engines.
Well, that's not exactly what I did, but it's relatively simple to find licensed
anime on download. And I know a place of exactly where they will put up Ah! My
Goddess TV from the DVDs (when they are released).
But hey, I'm pretty sure that A-Yuki will continue to subtitle A!MG TV, because
they've no note saying that they've ceased it or that it's anywhere in their
news or forums.
I think they will resume, because they want to be different to the other groups
stopping, they want to be different and be spotlighted and noticed by many anime
fans that A-One & A-Yuki are the ones who are willing to continue even
though they are going against the law.

Thats not what I meant though. Obviously it's not gonna stop the majority of the
ppl here (including me). There are many ways to get to licensed anime, but that
doesn't make it legal (unless you live outside of the US)
I guess it's good that it got picked up so quick, especially since the series is
supose to be a long running one... At least that's what I had heard. Well I
hope they are able to put 5+ episodes per disk, espeically if the series ends up
being 200 some odd episodes.
Quote by SherlockWell, it also has it's
good parts that it got licensed...the dvds are gonna come out sooner
^^
LOL, that's a good gone Sherlock. It doesn't take a Sherlock to figure that one
out.
People people, don't worry. Like I said many times before, they will continue
the fansub. And also, don't feel bad about the dub, because all of the Ah! My
Goddess titles have been dubbed very well!

Indeed.
Was that meant to be sarcastic?
Quote: Yes, we will still be
subbing the series with AnimeONE
There you see. ^_^ Just like I said. But if you think about it it's kinda of
insulting to the anime itself and the creators. I mean they hold a license to
the actual anime, and yet you still go against the rules and take it and
distribute it to everyone. Not entirely what a loyal anime fan would
do.

GO Kikuko, Yumi and Aya!!!
Guess I can stop waiting for those fan-subs now
Well I hopw they do a better effort with the dubs in this series, some of their work really s*cks....
Awwwww... Does this mean I can'y download any more episodes?

MadMover did you read the Fan's View report from 2001 about Scott Simpson and Juliet Cesario's comments about the Ah! My Goddess shift from AnimEigo to Pioneer?

Sheesh... every good anime im watching this year gets licenced. =/
Maybe Bleach will get licenced soon.....
If anyone of you guys know any subbing group who would continue to sub AMG TV please pm me.
Thank you very much
