I dont understand how you guys can say you wish a particular series never
existed. Whether its a good thing or not every piece of anime that has ever
existed has probably influenced every other piece of anime created. I mean
Evangelion is considered to be a pivotal anime series in the sense that it has
influenced countless anime series after it to explore deeper issues about the
plot and develpoment of characters.
Besides even the not so good series (like DBZ) are usually gateways for people
who are new to anime to be introduced to the medium and find really worthwhile
series and movies to watch.
Apparently the Search function does a phrase search by default (I've gotten used
to Google's default AND search). I should try putting in ANDs next time and see
if it makes a difference...
This question is a bit different from "worst anime" though, since
wishing for an anime to have never existed would also have effects on the
timeline Would anime be as available as it is today without
"marketable" series like DBZ and Pokemon?
I don't think I hate any anime enough to actually wish it never existed.

I can't but agree with Takeya's list. Anime-world would certainly be better
place without those. Except for evangelion, it's not that bad, it's just way too
over rated.

BUT! The same old pokemon that I dislike, was the thing that got me into way
better anime....
So... if there never existed all that crappy anime, perhaps I would be way
different than I am now....
The only two animes I wished that never existed are Evangelion and Transformers:
Car Robots (or Robots in Disguise...whatever)
EDIT: I have to disagree about Gundam though. Gundam was THE anime that changed
it's genre. Without Gundam: Macross, Gasaraki, Dragonar and lots of Real Robots
anime never would've been thought of.

Dragon Ball (Z also)
YuGiOh!
Sailor Moon (sorry ^^;)
Cardcaptors (CCS is wonderful, but the dub was a trainwreck...)
AND every gundam EVER MADE (although the Gundam series has great music....)

It was like the writers chose to have an okay plot for two or three episodes, then ad-lib it for the rest (including a few movies).

Hmm, you may be onto something with Robots in Disguise... it's new enough that Omega-Effecting it probably won't screw up the timeline too badly
