There's one very important thing about all RPG games (for me, the most important
thing), what is? It's battle system for sure!. If you finish a game about 40
hours long, I bet you spent more than half of that time doing battles. For me,
the best way is Active Time Battle. I don't mind if the characters can move or
not, but I love those time bars filling up jeje ^^
Every system has values and defects, but my favourite is ATB. I consider myself
not very impartial, cause I love ffvii, but I can't answer different.
^^'
For other system, I appreciate the battle system of Star Ocean for its immediacy
and also the system of some Action RPG, for example Diablo. Crushing legions of
enemies in few seconds isn't too complicate, but it's funny.
I'm a big fan of the battle system in the Tales of series (Tales of Phantasia,
Tales of Destiny 2 etc...). The battle system in ToD2 was the best though, no
confusing psuedo-3d, and in manual mode you had complete control of your
character, whichever you chose to play as.
Quote by -Asakura-my favorite battle
system is in star ocean 2. it is so much more fun and involved then just a turn
based or atb system i think.
D.I.T.T.O.
It just seems more...realistic. Save for the animations during spellcasting,
everyone can attack and chase the enemy around the battlefield at the same time.
Plus it requires more, um, strategizing. When your spells hit and stu the enemy,
your fighters can move in and knock off extra HP. (which is logical 'cause
enemies won't usually wait for their turns. it's not like they're playing card
games with you)
i really liked the BS in star ocean 3 only problem is my hand starts to
hurt....so ill stick to Final Fantasy's hahahah .......my bro fell asleep
fighting a boss =D
My favorite types of battle systems are prolly from StarOcean2&3, and the
one in KingdomHearts, i thought both worked very well and as far as i go, easy
to use.

yeah, so3 is the best!!
Tactical is pretty cool too. Especially Phantom Brave's style. You get more freedom.
i prefer atb system because it was the first i experienced and the one i enjoy the most
Grandia hands down. Real time meets turn based and it's love at first sight.
i liked the battle system in valkyrie profile
1 button for each character - adjust the timing to perfrom combos and special moves
