hey MT-ers.. im so so so curious.. how long can u actually hold ur breath? hehe.. my personal record is 2minutes 50 seconds.. my friends are around there too.. coz they say when we hold breath for more than 3 minutes, the brain will not have enuf oxygen and will be partially damaged.. that is the reason i stopped after 2.50minutes.. hehe..

I think you've got too much 'freetime' XD .
Can't hold my breath for that long to be honest.

i think about 1 minute.......
hey if you keep practising, you will be able to set a record in the guiness Book of records.... ;)

haha.. like i told u.. im afraid to hold my breath for more than 3 minutes.. =P

although it's possible what's the point?? i can do 30 secs top, myself

>.< ............ around a minutes >.<
Lol this def one of the fun thread :P

1 and half minutes at top!! cannot hold any longer, haha, actually sometime it depends on our moods :nya:

1 and half too

cya

not very long T_T 15-30sec -- i can't do w/o O2!!

haha... but so many ppl can do around 30 minutes underwater.. they say they actually can breathe underwater.. ((wonder how to do that)).. hehe..

That would be weird, bet they developed gils.

I think my max record would have to be maybe 1 minute and 50 secounds. I think I might have been able to go down longer but I don't really keep track when I am under water or something like that. But I stayed under once long enough to scare the crap out of my mom so that means it could be longer than what I thought. Ahh whatever I'll stop rambling.

my personal best is 3 mins 33 secs.... previus rec before that was 2min 35....^_^ and first time ever doing it was 1 min 30 secs...

but thats all on land. in the water, i tried to hold my breath once and it was only 40 secs. At least its enough to go 1 and a half lengths of a olympic sized pool underwater.

and they say its 4 mins that you have permanent brain damage....=P (but then i wonder how deep sea divers do it for 8 minutes o_O)

I think about 1 min and a little more. That's the best I can do.

woahh.. *scrutinize Valcrion and see if he is normal* hehe.. i really dun dare to hold more than 3 mins although i could.. then u're the bez here, Valcrion..! hehe.. yeah, i cant hold my breath too long too underwater.. especially if it goes deeper.. =P btw, that's wad i have been told.. they could breathe underwater somehow, and can still supply oxygen to their brain.. cool huh.. next time i see that kind of person, i will check whether they developed gills or not, Kashoku... hehe..

The world record is held by Tom Sietas of Germany who stayed under for 8 minutes, 47 seconds!

I get a mere fraction of that. but was much better when I swam.

shouldnt he be brain dead? lol....

im not going to do over 3 mins again.... i felt dizzy after that. but 2.5 mins is a "comfortable" amount of time for me.

He was a freediver which are well known for holding their breaths for long periods of time. In addition, they typically lower their heatrates to around 10-15 beats per minute, which greatly reduces the amount of oxigen taken from the lungs.

thanks! that explains why they can hold their breaths for so insanely long. o_O

hmm.. now i wanna noe how to lower my heart rates.. coz that is the only way to increase my time of holding breath.. hehe.. btw sh1nj1tsu, r u a swimmer or diver?

3 minutes?? haha..............

In a life or death situation, I think we can hold our breath for over four minutes. Granted it being a life or death situation so hopefully nobody on here ever gets to test that one out...

I never really timed myself because it varies, some days I can go much longer than on other days. I can do it for pretty long though- benefit of being a flute player.

I tried once at school and it was 3 minutes and something..... :) :D :) ;)

Just timed: 3:26
Required time for a Nato Navy Sniper: 4:30
When i was in the army 2 years ago they used to make us stay
under the water in a pool and if we came out to breath in less than 4
minutes they would shoot at us with caustuc bullets (feels like a punch <_<)

around a min i guess
